| Well, if you take Chris Sprouse at his word, it seems a bit odd. Quitting because an Internet ruckus was taking away from the work? Really? Perhaps he wasn't aware previously of Card's controversial musings (I first heard about them only a couple of months ago) and decided he didn't want to work with him. *shrug* Whatever the "true" reason for his departure there doesn't appear to be any constitutional issues involved. |

People seem to think Facebook and your real life social circles are mutually exclusive and I find them to be highly complementary. I guess I just don't see FB as social. To me social is face to face communication with phone calls as a secondary method. I mean I communicate with coworkers via email everyday, and yet we still have miscommunications sometimes. So, imagine how hard it is to communicate more complicated emotional topics via texting, wall posts, and emails when you only do it occasionally. Maybe I'm an idiot or emotionally stunted, but I just don't get it. |

First a disclaimer -- I do lean towards the loner side of the spectrum, I'm not anti-social, just less social than most. Anyway, this idea you put forward is the thing I least understand. If you hadn't seen or heard from someone in decades, doesn't that indicate you had no interest in contacting them? |

Mouse advise to everyone: If you find one you love, buy 5 or 6 so you won't get caught without when the manufacturer makes some change you hate or simply stops making them. Soooo glad I did that. |

I don't know how else you can measure entertainment other than time and cost, outside that it's all subjective. If going to a movie cost me $7 (current matinee price here) and it's a two hour movie, that entertainment cost me $3.5 an hour. Compared to say, playing paintball which costs $5 an hour. The movie is less costly. Seems straight forward and simple to me.
*shrug* Whatever. |

| From what I've read, you aren't necessarily safe even in high security areas. And yeah, there appears to be a "you can never catch up" issue. At least in something like WoW -- you can start from scratch and in a couple of months be as geared as anyone else is for the most part... |

| I've been intrigued by this game for years, but I've always been put off by the "griefing" issue and the seeming complexity of the game. Complexity isn't of itself bad, but jumping into a complex game that's been around for years as a total noob, doesn't have much appeal. |

zombiefan wrote on Feb 28, 2013, 10:42: $1100+ for a video game. Insanity. Insane? Yes and no.
You are correct that my out of pocket costs where over $1,000 in the six years I was playing the game. But if you look at it on a per hour basis, it was extremely cheap. Even at the most conservative estimates, I played the game 500+ hours a year. There were months at time where I played 30+ hours a week.
Going to just 2-3 movies a month would have cost me more. Or even easier, one good dinner out each month would have cost me more. Neither of those would occupy my time for even a faction of what WoW did. Compared to those costs, the game cost was pocket change and not even a consideration.
Oh, and for the record -- all during that time I was a successful full-time employee of a major corporation. (And no, I couldn't play at work)
