im sure i read that the devs said they are doing this project because it is the only way to get money so they can start on a new ip.
but, couldnt they have spent this whole time working on a new ip?
to be brutally honest, who is going to play this when things like legions and quake live will be out.

i was just thinking of this earlier too! freaky.
my main concern is blizzard's un-matched support of their games. i've never really looked at many activision games of late so i can't comment on their support.
hopefully it'll go the other way and maybe activision support will improve due to blizzard?

I think about 2.9 Million of those copies are sitting exactly in the same place I put mine after 20 minutes of game play....on the shelf to collecting dust. wrong. many of us have played it through several times, and still enjoy it today.
and that's not me defending id. as much as i do love them, i fucking hate hollenshead. he makes sure he puts a bullet in the head of any potential the games they are working on have with his rhetoric.
i used to hate mark rein the most but he seems to have toned it down a notch and this guy has taken over.

A) All their games are still appearing on the PC. That's still a long ways from "ditching" the PC. Sure Gears was a port well after the fact, but that was due to licensing issues with Microsoft, and quite frankly if MS paid Valve or Blizzard or any of the other "PC friendly" devs the same kind of money to go console exclusive I really do believe they'd do the same thing that Epic has (well, maybe not Blizzard as it might jeopardize/impact the cash cow that is WoW). you clearly know next to nothing about valve to even say that.

it did come out, it did get panned.
it was released in beta state. and not only that, it suffered (still does suffer) from severe consolitis. (the HUD itself is an insult to gaming it is that ugly/useless).
they have spent the time since launch patching (read: finishing) the game.
i wish THQ, fuck ANY publisher, would stop releasing games that are not finished. even if it is Kaos fault for not being ready by the deadline - they are killing any profits they might have had.

i have to agree that ra3 looks rather cartoony. some of the units are a bit ridiculous.
it went from being an alternate reality war game to just, saturday morning cartoon craziness.

What's long overdue is some kind of standard industry-wide approach for supporting legacy code in general, not just recent releases.
Personally at this point in my career I'd -prefer- to work on existing Stable code instead of beating my brains out in yet another round of desperate crunchtime madness trying to get new code working at all.
Hire me! somebody hire this man!

for the record i thought c&c3 was quite good. but as dev said, that is solely from a single player point of view.
the general consensus seems to be multiplayer was shot in the head before it got out the door and was never resuscitated.

i never understood why its such a big deal for them to patch their recently released games.
blizzard still patches their games from 10 years ago.

well i live in aus and i wouldnt be surprised if it did end up getting banned for that.
personally i think it might be a good thing. it would force people to import the game. not only avoiding the overpriced games here but getting the game as it was intended.

I also have to say "World of Starcraft". The videos from Starcraft II give a distinct impression that they are developing the world for this very purpose. It will be the launching pad, just like Warcraft III was for World of Warcraft. you mean reading up on as much warhammer 40k they can seeing as blizzard just do not do ideas of their own.
