If saying things made them true then you'd be the prince of the universe You can try to paint a doom and gloom picture about piracy all you want but the PC platform is starting to thrive again largely on the back of digital distribution services. Piracy is a problem on all platforms but it doesn't mean PC exclusives can't be successful, both independent and traditional publisher funded.

First off everyone, this guy worked on Titan Quest. Need I say more when it comes to how they treat PC users and their unruly tactics towards PC DRM. I lost all respect for this guy once he uttered the words I worked on Titan Quest. Blehh!!!

Nice! A Steal!

Not exactly a steal, I was kind of hoping it would come under the 6 dollar mark too. But I did enjoy this game the most. Loved the underworld area. Good fun down there. Plus the undead too. I really was disappointed when they moved away from the fantasy side of this game. That is what kept this game interesting and fun to me. Iím a huge DnD fan so, put me in a dungeon and Iím a happy puppy.

I believe that this was the first game to introduce rope arrows too. No one uses those in game which is disappointing, Might and Magic Dark Messiah was about the only other game to use them.

WOW, this looks pretty damn cool! How are they able to make a C&C game when the IP is owned by EA & still active?

It takes as inspiration Westwood's original vision of C&C Renegade, that is, a RTS/FPS/TPS hybrid in multiplayer. It's not a copy of the C&C series, rather an inspiration, hence they're free from trouble from EA.

In other words, this game has the potential of being a multiplayer massive hit.

Donít worry, EA is at this very moment contemplating buying these guys up as they did Dice. It wonít be long until this group of guys is brought in and corrupted by the Evil Empire EA.

Personally I get tired of this debate on who is entitled to their share of someone selling a game used or buying a used game. Imagine if you took your car to a dealer and wanted to trade it in for a new car. And if the manufacturer of the original car you are trading in decided that they are owed a share of that sell.

Absolutely ridiculous those publishers feel they are entitled to a cut of this. If publishers want a cut of used game sales, then start an outlet store where people can sell and trade games in for newer one. Then the argument will be settled.

The part of this that really bothers me is that publisher feel that they own a game that we bought. they dont own shit.

My question to all of this would be why did it take a review site to complain and threaten to never again review one of their games to get their point across and get a reaction out of Ubishit. Why are our concerns and thoughts an afterthought and not taken seriously. That is what bothers me about this.

Itís like we are an afterthought and our comments and concerns are not taken seriously.

News Comments > The Old Republic Cancellation Issues; Trailer
25. Re: The Old Republic Cancellation Issues; Trailer Jan 19, 2012, 16:48 Darks

Doombringer wrote on Jan 19, 2012, 16:10:
For one, canceling because of the Slicing or Biochem nerfs is ridiculous. That is the MMO equivalent of a child's rant, like stamping your feet or holding your breath. These professions were fundamentally Too Good and could not exist fairly alongside the other professions. Anyone who got upset about these nerfs would have probably also cancelled WoW when Stormherald's stuns were nerfed... again, because those stuns were simply Too Good. Look beyond the end of your own nose -- things might be great for you as a Biochem expert, but the guy who didn't get Biochem is feeling he made the wrong decision. Balance is key. And often, balancing and rebalancing happens many times throughout an MMO's lifetime.

But the Bioware goof with the cancellation option being unavailable or generally difficult to use? A major gaffe. They definitely have egg on their face for that.

Then again, I remember the Customer Service nightmare that was WoW in those initial months. And the subsequent nightmare, a few years later, with the Blizzard Store and BlizzCon tickets. Sometimes, these companies cannot perfect their backend systems... something breaks somewhere... nor can they always fully prepare for demand.

Excuse me Doombringer, but you clearly are out of touch with Slicing as a whole. Have you used it? Did you try leveling it? Have you sent your companions out on countless missions to only take loss after loss in credits each and every time? I doubt it!!

Try sending your companions on missions that cost you 2k plus each time and they only come back with around 1800 credits. A total loss. And Iím not talking about the many missions they come back on that are failed. Total loss of credits. Iím not the only one who is pissed about this. Try looking up the forums and reading what others are saying about it, there is over 140 pages worth of complaints about this.

Slicing as a whole was to make money; it does not net us anything but credits to help support the other skills. slicers where the ones buying mods, armor, weapons and whatever else was needed. After slicing took the major nerfing that it did, the AH went completely tits up. No one was buying anything. I know someone who works at Bioware. I had many discussions with them about this and other things he admitted to me that they over stepped their bounds and didnít think this through clearly. And that they needed to make better attempts at talking to the user base first before taking such drastic actions.

As we can see that still isnít happening with the way changes are being made for the wrong.

My quitting was not solely based off Slicing; I had many other issues like loosing mods from armor when changing a zone and this happened several times. Or the many other bugs in the game that to me after being on the beta are bugs that were there months before release. At that point I felt I was paying for a beta. And decided to quit.

Hmm, not posting on the forums reeks of damage control revved to the max. And people not having the sub cancellation button available? Oh dear.

Bioware is in panic mode, and now they shut down the forums to try and keep things in control but all that is doing is making things worst. I cancelled mine after the Slicing nerf.

I got so pissed off about it that I said screw this and canceled mine. Glad I did, because things are spiraling out of control and EA is now looking like shit. But turning off the forums and trying to prevent people from subscription cancelations is just wrong.

Yeah, this is definitely another weird factor in the game. For example, it would cost me ~28k credits to upgrade my Corrosive Dart skill but the difference in damage is simply far to low to justify the cost even though I have more than enough credits to cover it. Factor in all skills and you're looking at 300k credits + easy

You know that sad part about this? I know someone directly involved and at the top of Bioware and I brought up many of these points to them and I pretty much got the, we know but we are not going to do a damn thing about it. To say I was pissed off is an understatement.

There's a huge storm on the forums about this and it seems as though the moderators/community managers/designers are getting torn to shreds based on the feedback they have provided to the community with page after page of users saying they've cancelled their subs.

This is really a pivotal moment for SWTOR as a whole, regardless of whether it's PvP or PvE related because it's the principle that they are barely taking responsibility for this disaster, allowing those who participated in the spawn camping to keep rank/valor, and the time it actually took to even address the issue on top of the time it took to actually bring down Ilum.

The fact of the matter is is that their 'best people in the business' really fucked up with Ilum on so many levels. There shouldn't even be an instant kill mechanic in the first place, just put in more turrets that actually hit hard which do AOE damage along with boss-level guards and the problem solves itself. Don't blame the terrible PvP design flaws solely on your shitty Hero engine...

I like the game from a PvE stand point, I really do, but this has really left a sour taste in my mouth and for this to happen within the first month while trying to build a user base is simply jaw dropping by any standards.

I would have to agree with you that it is a pivotal moment if this MMO survives. Itís not just the PVP screw ups that are hurting this game. There are many other aspects like the Hugh nerfing Slicing took to the issues people are having with the overly high prices to train.

At level 45 it cost you over 45K to train one skill. Thatís absurd! Credits are a big issue with many people not having enough of. Also along with many other issues like EA or Bioware not talking to the community before taking such drastic measures at changing balancing or just ignoring users completely. They are losing subs but Iím not sure how many. If EAs not carful this may become the biggest flopped MMO in history.

I donít get why this game has a Three limit install when it uses Steam. That is absurd!!

Another reason why I do not ever buy their games. I have a long story about how my Sons CD key stopped working and the BS I went through to get it fixed. To put it short. They kept insisting his CD key was good but it wasnít. I told them something on his account was locked down and the key wasnít showing activated. After a month of fighting with UBishit support, they finally removed the old key and gave me a new one. Works great now. And I got to keep the old key. Guess what? That key works perfectly fine on the new account I made. But Ubishit insisted that there was nothing wrong on his account. Pathetic!!

Blue byte contacted them and fixed their issues. But what about those of us that have issues? Why donít we get the same respect and help?

It all comes back to UBishit support and how badly it is.

You mean to tell me after a decade, they only managed to finish one race's campaign? Really? C'mon it's a cash grab, you know it, I know it, Blizzard knows it. Let's be realistic here.

I'd love for Activision to give Blizzard a standard 18-24 month dev cycle that the rest of the industy uses rather than 5-10 years they take each title just to laugh at the results.

Blizzard in my eyes is the most overrated developer in the entire industry, Any other team does not need a decade to put out a standard action rpg click fest, or a standard RTS based on genre tropes.

It's astounding to me that people still defend them for being inept.

You're getting way to caught up on what they called the game, and not what is in the game. The content is superior both in quality and quantity to the original. They announced a trilogy. Each game is standalone, separated by two full years of development. This same model is used by countless developers: Bioshock, Mass Effect, Batman Arkham X, Modern Warfare, etc. How is this any different from those games? It's not. If Heart of the Swarm comes out with no SP game, and only 2 extra units per side for $60 I'll eat my words, but that seems extremely unlikely.

As for it taking 10 years to get SCII out the door, Blizzard is a smaller company that focuses on one or two projects at a time. Their products are uniformly high quality, and tend to be played for years after release. I guess if you don't like SCII, you could play that other RTS that came out 1.5 years ago that is still played by thousands of people. Oh, no you can't because there isn't one.

As for it being a "standard RTS", you can't just pump these out like apple pies: it takes a lot of time and effort to get the gameplay and balance of an RTS correct. The possibilities in chess are greater than all the molecules in the known universe. Given that an RTS orders of magnitude more complex than chess, it stands to reason that takes some time to get right. Look at two recent RTS games that didn't take that time: Stronghold 3 and SotS 2, both of which are total messes.

As for Blizzard being inept, SCII scores 93% on Metacritic, 92% on Game Rankings, and has sold over 5 million copies, most of those at full price. By any objective measure, that reeks of competence and success.

I meant inept in the sense of dev cycles. Name one thing that SC2 does game play wise, that any C&C game hasn't done with the exception of C&C 4 that didn't have base building. To be honest I'd rather play C&C Generals than Warcraft3 or Starcraft 2 just on personal preference. SC isn't fun MP, every game is a 5 minute base rush online and the cpu ai cheats solo. Meh sorry not impressed.

I could care less how many copies they sell based solely on the Blizzard brand name, the fact of the matter is their titles graphically look worse 99 out of 100 times compared to others in their respected genres due to their long cycles, never innovate, and imo at the least are over rated because to me they are no better or play really any different than other titles put out by other developers in less time.

With one exception, I though Diablo 1 was one of the greatest games of it's time and really that was made by Condor who Blizzard bought after they pitched the title to them in the first place.

My biggest gripe about Blizzard would be that they get so caught up in the, I donít want to change anything; we just want to make it look better and play better. They still canít think outside the box. They refuse to update their games to a more modern look and feel. And what I mean by that is, why is it that we still canít use the keyboard to move your char around with why is it that we still have lack of control over the camera and lack of rotating the camera?

The best answer I can come up with is that Blizzard is afraid to change anything for fear that it would upset many of their fan bases. I personally canít stand the camera being locked down. To me, I need a camera more like Dungeon Siege or Sacred 2.

Same goes for their cookie cutter Suck Craft 2. All they did with that game was give it a shiny new coat of paint. The game is still pretty much the same. All you guys got was a new story to go along with that new coat of paint.

Blizzard needs to take more chances with their games, and they really do need to stop taking 5 years to develop a game. They got an endless supply of money coming in, thereís no excuse for not having a good sized team that can get the job done quicker.
