I think you guys are looking at this all wrong, I know we all have seen the videos but video sometimes does not translate well when it comes to seeing it on the PC on your own monitor pushing it as high as you can go with the settings. I don’t think this game looks crappy in anyway. Nor do the textures look bad as some believe. I’m a firm believer in, I need to play it before I make any assumptions on how bad it looks and plays. I seriously doubt ID spent the last 6 years making this game to have it underachieve.

Personally I’m looking forward to the game and think it’s looking pretty damn good.

You all need to read what I said, Friends and Family dumb shits. There’s a big difference between the two types of Betas that going on. So Again, I am correct in what I said.

Dammit. That shitty weapon-switching technique is obviously also in the PC version. WTF, id? You practically INVENTED using 1-9 for weapons, why did you come up with this horseshit? Oh, right, because the Xbox doesn't have 1-9 keys, and you couldn't be arsed to make a PC UI.

And the whole "shoot guys in the fucking head with an assault rifle and they're still not dead" is not a great gameplay mechanic.

AND regenerating health. Woohoo!

I'll wait for it to go on sale.

Creston

Stop over reacting Creston, Dude, I’ll bet you right now that the 1-9 weapon changing does exist in the PC version. They are showing off the stupid console. Why do some people always go over the deep end on a game trailer when they haven’t even played the damn game to begin with? That’s like someone telling you they hated the Salad but never even tasted it. Give me a break already!!

Until we see a beta you can pretty much count out anything being released anytime soon. A friend of mine is working on this game and they havent even started the friends and family internal beta yet.

Now you’re trying to mix apple with oranges, back then that was the standard of RPG gaming. Again, I didn’t hate this game; I just didn’t care for the mouse combat the way its setup. it always felt awkward and as Verno said, you really didn’t feel that you had any control over it. These guys did an amazing job with the original aurora engine, so I am curious how this new game will be but I’m dreading that the combat will be the same. I will be waiting on this for one to come down in price before I try it.
I didn't mean to accuse you of being a hypocrite. I hate and continue to hate the Diablo style click fest with potion and mana hotkeys. It's extremely boring. The loot drops is much of the reason why people played this game. It's very much like playing a slot machine. Boring but the excitement is whether you win anything after pulling the arm or clicking the button.

It’s all good; I understand what you’re saying. I would have liked for this game to be more like Neverwinter nights style of combat, he auto attacks, but you have options to make him do special attacks. Or Dragon Age 2 sytle of combat, that was some brutal combat.

Did you hate the click click click of the Diablo series?

Same for me, I tried to enjoy this game, but the thing that really kept me from liking it was the combat, I just couldnt stand having to mouse fuck everythng to get the combat to work. I would rather they made icons to click or have some type of auto attacks that you could alter.

More bans so they force users to buy more copies to over inflate their sales and ego of the company.

Can’t say that I’m a bit surprised at any of this, this is what Consoles have done to the pc and those of you that keep supporting Consoles and DLC will keep getting this crap shoved down your throats.

I will never understand why anyone that is promoting their game will use a crappy console to do so, when the pc is far more superior for showing off the games true beauty. Its mind boggling to say the least. The game defiantly looks good; Coop is a big plus for this game too.

"The software side is the root of this, as they say sales of video and computer games fell 16% to $735.4 million, compared with $875.7 million a year earlier. "

As I said before, we are witnessing what may be the beginnings of the second gaming industry crash and all signs keep pointing into it.

The reason for this is that there are other alternative forms of entertainment, apps, which I really don't consider part of what gamers define as games. Apps, being cheap, on portable hardware and showing to be more and more competent at entertaining people is quickly becoming the greatest peril the industry faces. So either the industry changes business models or publishers will more than likely drop like flies.

So software sales dropped 16%, not 4%. And add the horrid sales of the 3DS and anyone with half a mind can see trouble in the horizon for the industry.

You guys crack me up, they are going off sales, but what new games have really come out last month? Not a whole lot. So yes, of course sales are going to be down. This scale or monitoring always kills me when people start panicking over sales that are supposedly lost when in reality there hasn’t been a whole lot out to gage sales from in the first place.

I am all for this form of "DRM". If you pirate a game, and the developer puts in a show-stopping bug only present in pirated copies; then oh freaking well ***hole.

Some legitimate customers may be affected, sure. In that case, post in the forums, with a copy of your receipt. That way you get actual technical help.

Also, post a disclaimer in the forums or on the website, saying what the specific show-stopping bug is and what it's purpose is. Communicate this out to reviewers.

@Shineyguy

You are an idiot, why should I or anyone else have to jump through hoops to prove I purchased a game when the developers caused this to begin with. If a person buys a game and the devs are stupid enough to put in a show stopping bug that not only affects the pirates but has and can affect legitimate customers, then myself or anyone should never have to prove we bought their game.

The fact is, the developer has to support the game. I don’t recall on the box cover at any time when I’ve bought a game where it says that contacting tech support requires me to present my receipt. Nor does it say on the box that the developer put in a bug that purposely breaks the game from working properly. Because if it does, I can see a big class action law suit coming out of all of this. And I would not have bought the game to begin with. No one deserves to be hassled like that, nor should anyone have to put up with that crap.

Also as someone else stated, people use cracks to get around having to use their disk all the time. Using a crack exe file does not make a person a pirate.

Worked on a game; we put in several subtly broken feature that we knew pirates would miss when they generated cracked copies of the game. The game still ran, but you'd hit a non-progression bug after some regular gameplay.

On release day, ~20-30% of our tech forum issues were about the broken features that would only show up in cracked versions. Not only did these people not buy our game, they felt justified in asking the developers, directly, to spend time helping them fix their pirated software.

This reminds me of the FADE system Bohemia Interactive uses in their games (Operation Flashpoint, Arma, ...) where if they detect a pirated copy then the game over time will start to run really slow and wash out becoming unplayable.

I think the algorithm for detecting a pirated version activated a few times with legit copies, which is to be expected I guess. But, the few times this happens is pretty much negligible I'd think.

It would be nice if it were possible to construct a perfect algorithm for detecting pirates and when you do, format their drives. Muahaha! But that's not really possible and so non-pirates would be getting wiped out which would bring all kinds of hellfire on the devs then. Too bad b/c I'd love nothing more than to format an actual pirate's computer. Over and over again.
The problem with systems like FADE it is hard to tell if the game has a false positive or the game is glitching out. I have heard many situations like this and it only bites the developer in the ass.

Game gets pirated before launch, game glitches because its pirated, word gets out that the game is a pile of crap (despite being a pirated copy/leaked copy/beta/alpha), game gets bad press, no one buys game when it legitimately comes out.

Have to agree with every word you said here. Word of mouth carries a lot of weight. Look what happened to Iron Lore a few years back. That purposely implemented bug killed them as a developer. I think its dirty tactics personally that a developer would sabotage a game.
It does them no justice at all and only leads back to getting bad press in the long run and makes them look foolish. I have purposely avoided supporting companies that do this kind of dirty tactics. Will continue to do so too.

Maybe you should do some homework and stop whinning about the game so much, the devs already announced that you can infact turn your head while driving and while riding in the humvees.

I wouldn’t give this game the time of day for a lousy four days of access. Seems to me they are being really anal about the grace period to allow anyone any time to get a good feel for the game. To me it’s like hurry up and play it for a few days then shut you off before you get a feel for what this game is really like. At least wow gives you 15 days.
