This is what happens when you try to make a stupid RTS game free to play with a market that is only pvp. I saw this game at E3 and felt like chocking out the devs. These are the same talented people who originally gave us CnC and this is how they have fallen. And to be honest, when I watched them playing the game and tried a little of it myself. I thought that the game was garbage.

Jeez. Better than the best selling movie. Plus the movie probably cost much more to produce.

Yea, well Avatar didnít cost you an arm and leg to walk into the theater either. You canít compare apples to oranges here guys.

8. Re: Far Cry 3 Uplay Workaround Nov 30, 2012, 12:44 Darks

Ubi wonders why we all hate this shitty Uplay client. I bought the new GTX 660 ti card; it came with two games, Borderlands 2 and Assassins Creed 3. Go to GeForces site; put in codes it than creates new codes. BL2 no problem. It generates a new Steam key awesome, smooth and done. The way it should be!!

But, the Ubi key generates a new code, and then you have to go to their site. Put the game in a cart and then use the code to get your game. Well guess what, their servers keep saying Server Error. I canít even redeem my key.

So I sent in a complaint to their support, after three days, I still have not heard from anyone. Just awesome server Ubi... This is why I do not buy their games.

Pirating this game!!!

Less awesome button, more gameplay. Also less poorly written Whedon wannabe stuff and teenage level sexual encounters. The first Dragon Age suffered quite a bit from it too but they really went nuts with Merill in DA2.

It's funny, now that I think about it Dragon Age 3 is one of the few games where I just want less of everything in the previous game. Combat waves, silly dialogue wheel, etc.

How about less Origin and more Steam. Origins platform is atrocious for their games.

It not just about the AI cheating in this game. my issues come from the lack of functionality in the game. Example being the lack of a proper belt to carry items. One open slot to carry a grenade, health or a scope that should be part of an upgrade to the weapon, frustrating canít even begin to explain this.

Plus the lack of the AI attacking your base, the lack of building more than one base to assault aliens when attacks occur. Always being pounded by three attacks at the same time and having to make a choice each and every time an attack occurs. That to me was one of the more frustrating parts in the game. Who do I help and who do I piss off and lose support from. Lame!!

These are just some of the issues I have, I wonít even get into the combat and move and shoot limitations and how stupid that gets at times and lack off healing.

Yeah, I miss the base invasions too. That was one of my favorite parts of the original: starting out in random locations, scrambling to form a coherent defense, protecting your scientists.

The lack of equipment carrying is a bit limiting. Definitely "gamey", like the three simultaneous abductions you have to choose from. On the other hand, you're able to throw grenades with perfect accuracy, so that kind of makes up for the lack of them, and also spamming grenades as a strategy.

Not sure what you mean by "lack of healing" though. A properly upgraded Support class unit and medkit work pretty well.

The Healing spray you get in the game is limited, and it does not help your Marines once back in base to be healed. It still takes days if not weeks to get a Marine back. So the Marine that was i nthe field fighting injured now goes back to the base and is not able to fight again becasue hes to hurt. Okay, how was able to keep on fighting i nthe field than? Ughh!

Iím not saying that I hated this game; I like some aspects of it. But it had many short falls that kept me from really liking this game. Some Iíve already pointed out.

One thing that really bothered me is how your chars would miss their targets all the time. I get that itís a leveling up thing and earning it makes you better. But these guys are supposed to be the Elite of the Elite that would have been handpicked from every corner of the Earths Elite Forces.

So these guys should be ready locked and cocked. No excuses for a sniper to miss as much as they do. Plus loading your weapon takes all your move points? Utter crap, canít move and shoot unless your higher levels. Thereís a bunch of things, I canít recall every little thing, but if this game had more of Jagged Alliances mechanics the game would have been so much better. Oh yea, crappy camera to, moving in 90 degree arcs. WTF!! Whatever happed to the full on move it like you want it cameras?

To me, the game felt unfinished and not a lot of thought went into the mechanics of this game. The devs should have taken a few more months to get the fine tuning down.

It's just too bad that the challenge comes from the AI cheating and purely random shit happening to you that you can't do anything about. It's not a difficulty where the AI simply plays smarter than you do; it just cheats instead.

No diss on the game, which is fantastic, but it would have been nice if Classic could have been made difficult through smart AI, rather than giving them shitty bonuses and having totally random bullshit happen in the strategy map.

The Warspace mod does alleviate these issues somewhat, fortunately, but it's a bitch to get mods running in this game.

Creston

Much easier solution is to open up the:

"DefaultGameCore.ini" file in XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XComGame\Config folder, then (make sure wordwrap is OFF)

Scroll down to "BalanceMods_Hard=" and to the right of that you can see "ICritHit=10" and "iAim=10" just zero those out such as "iCritHit=0" for everything in the "BalanceMods_Hard=" section and your good to go on Classic Difficulty with full AI and No cheating.

"Hard" = Classic Mode and "Classic" = Hard Mode in that .ini file by the way.

Save a backup and there ya go!

Only need two lessons for COH, don't associate with NCSoft, they shut games down for the stupidest things. You also have a limited audience with a superhero game.

As to Neverwinter, complete waste of time, number one it is being done by Cryptic, it's idea of UGC is pathetic and you have to pay for it beyond the first few iterations. Secondly it is PW and anyone who has played a PW game knows what I am talking about.

If you are holding out for Neverwinter you are going to be majorly disappointed.

Oh what little faith you have. Seriously have you even seen Neverwinter or played it? I did at E3 and it is a really well done game. The Beta is going to be starting up next month and Iím on it. But you my friend are complete off base in your assumption and opinion about this game.

I know cryptics track record in the past has not been great, but all the reviews of this game have been very positive. I for one canít wait for this game to be out.

You can buy this on GOG, install the widescreen patch, and be playing this game problem-free within 5 minutes of reading this. So I'm not sure how neccessary this overhaul was. But I'm a sucker for old school epic RPGs, so will probably buy it anyways.

This is more than just a widescreen patch. They had done a lot of other changes to the game to make the UI fit correctly and a lot of other enhancements. so your logic is flawed. But Iím with nin, Steam or nada.

Also, after watching the video, yea this defiantly is looking old. The zoom factor is set to far out. Everything looks too small. Great game back in its day, but not up to modern standards. I think I would rather play Temple of Elemental Evil. At least it looks better, or Neverwinter nights.

Well that looked pretty good, but Iíve never really like the last man standing crap. Thereís no end objective to it. If there was an end goal then it would be good. Playing to the last man only goes so far until it gets boring. The real meat of this game is going to be the Coop Campaign.

Wrong. It's the blind optimism and wishful thinking toward this game that's totally unwarranted here. And in couple of years you're going to see that.

After growing up on Wing Commander series, Strike Commander, Privateer, and Freelancer, Chris Roberts has earned my blind optimism and wishful thinking.

I've been waiting over 10 years for a game like this. If anyone can do it, it's him. Even if it's 1/2 of what he promised it's still better than nothing.

Absolutely agree with you on this. I know CR personally, and I have talked to him over the past few months about the game. I know for a fact that he is not some gold digging person who is looking for a quick buck to try and rip off people. He nearly created the Space Sims genre and this game is a lifelong dream for him and he will deliver. Itís easy to knock someone when you have little insight into their lives, but CR will make this game and deliver it as promised.

Right about now, Microsoft, EA, UBISoft and THQ and the rest of the publishers are scratching their heads wondering how the fuck did we miss out on this opportunity.

The Truth is, Chris did try to get them to fund and publish the game, and no one was interested, they all thought Space Sims, BlaH that shit will never work. How wrong they all were.

Glad I helped to fund this.

There was no sprint til 10, I think, when the game launched. Now you're whining about it not getting it at level 1 if you're playing for free. It's still a fun game and you get a lot of content for NO money. I unlocked mounts on one of my alts with legacy perks. My son, who is new to the game, doesn't have that option. I don't mount up when we play together. Big deal...

The point is, there are lots of options out there for non-subscription MMOs, and EA is discouraging people from playing their own game.

Speaking of which, there's a huge world event starting right now in Guild Wars 2, with a huge new area, new dungeons, new items, skills and even useless but fun ornamental trinkets. It's all being given away, right now, this moment, for nothing, to people who own the game, with no subscription fee.

So, restricted not-F2P SWTOR, or free new stuff in GW2?

See you all later. Got dragons to kill!

Sprint was changed several months ago and was given to ALL players at level 1. The reason was because so many people bitched about it that BW final relented and gave everyone what they wanted. Now they go and take it back like a fucking tease they are. This game hasnít got a chance of surviving with all the forced restriction in place now. Iíll give this game a year until itís gone completely. And good riddance too.

While it's mainly the same as far as game-play (no surprise) there are a few nice differences and I've gotta say it's been a very fun experience so far. I've played mainly MP but the other modes (SP and zombie) is pretty good so far too.

Haters gonna hate but I'm having a good time with it so I don't care. It does look a little nicer since the PC version uses DX11, but unfortunately it's not as nice looking at it could be. But that again is no surprise at all. BF3 looks, and sounds, a ton better but I just can't get all that into it for some reason.

So it's TF2 and BO2 for me.

There are times when I really like the game, but there are time when I really hate what they are doing to the story.

The flash backs are driving me crazy. I really thought this game was going to be more concentrated on the future story and what going on.

Woods is pissing me off.

The other aspect is Trearch still doesnít get it on the zombie thing, getting two shotted by a zombie is utter crap, and the aiming to hit their heads is shit. You sometimes spend a full clip just trying to kill the damn things.

Thereís no sense in that kind of crap, especially when you have waves coming in and it gets progressively harder as you go.
