Was this on console first? Was it really that bad?

It has a few defenders like anything else on the internet but yes it was that bad. This started out as a Kinect game but when it became clear that doing anything with Kinect is fucking awful they decided to keep going instead of just wisely scrapping the whole project. The good part is the graphics, its a very pretty game. The bad part is pretty much everything else. The combat seems visceral to start but becomes repetitive and shallow quickly. The story is not even worth mentioning.

I suspect people will feel more favorable about it if they go into it with very low expectations and pay less than $15. I only put a few hours into it at a friends place but that was enough to say "ok lets not play this ever again and wheres Forza?".

Man you just described Shadow of Mordor. The story part is better though, but the combat is very repetetive even though the missions are quite varied. I had to force myself to play it yesterday and in the end it did grow on me a little bit, so its not a total loss. I just wish it took a little bit more skill to pull of those nice fatalites and whatnot, instead of just LMB button mashing (and the ocasional RMB) and pressing "F" when your sword lights up...

About Mordors combat, it wouldn't be so bad if they fricking didn't re-spawn the hell out of everything in the game. Seriously, cleared out an area by a camp fire walked away came back and the same bastards were re-spawned. this is what is making the game a boring slug-fest of repetition.

I cant speak for RYSE, it looks OK at best. so im waiting until Christmas Sales, maybe it will be 5 bucks by then.

I got about 45% through the first one. I do love dungeon crawlers, but I've always disdained copious puzzles. I like fighting, getting loot, figuring out battles, not pulling 10 chains in various sequences to get a door to open, or stepping on 15 teleporters for an hour. I know, I know, Eye of the Beholder, et. al. had them, and I hated them back then too.

That goes for me as well. Never finished it for the same reason.

I fit into this category too. I really despised the puzzles on some of the levels. this was a good game, but the timing on the puzzles were way to quick to try and complete. Way to much move left, now right. now pull lever A and run to lever B.

They really went over board on some of this crap.

I don't know if some of you got to the lower levels where one of the puzzles you had to do it is such a way and timing to get a special sword locked away. what a fricking nightmare it was to try and maneuver around the pillars pulling levers and avoiding dropping through the floor.

It was at that point when I gave up on this game.

Its a good game and all, but far to much of that going on.
One other thing I really got tired of seeing to was killing monsters and them blowing up into sparks. they really need to get more creative then that. Felt like Doom 3 and killing demons and then dissolving away. Boring.

Motherfucker!

Did you order it on PC or PS4? I want to know your impressions of it regardless, I was just curious. I have been leaning towards PS4 (not buying it for a couple of months) just because it seems to be a game built around playing on a controller and also because I don't think there will be much of a modding scene for it.

I grabbed it on ps4, as that seemed to be what all the streams were, as well as the reviews.

Surprised nin, I never pegged you for a console junkie. Why did you not get this for the pc when its going to be the better platform?

Here's a link with some actual PC footage played with a MOUSE and KEYBOARD!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrzSBpkxbqw#t=69

The video truly puts every single video out there to shame, with their limiting controller gameplay. This looks so good!

That video does look good, but during combat, why the fricking hell does the camera need to be at a side angle and not over the shoulder? That's just fucking lame and disappointing.

I just got this card too. I pre ordered this game on GMG had 15 dollar credit and used the coupon got the game for 30 bucks.

Cant wait to play this one, glad to see the reviews are panning out.

I wouldn't sweat the requirements too much, they're often inaccurate. I've seen minimums that are absurd and high end specs that the game didn't warrant at all.

I hope your right. I guess Ill find out on Tuesday, if those textures are available.

It looks cool enough that I might be tempted to get it day one, but right near the end I saw a little "internet connection required" thingy. Not sure if that was just for the pre-order stuff, or if the game is always-on... Anyone have any idea?

Seeing how this game is also being released by WB. and seeing how Gauntlet was just released with an in game type web logging system that tracks your progress. I'm thinking that yes its going to be required.

Plus, in this video if you all didn't catch that, it has a leader board. Why? I have no idea. I personally hate leader boards of any type. I could care less about competing for first place In any game.

Just lame!! Look for the crack to bypass this crappy on line crud.

This looks pretty neat but I've got a bunch of other crap to play and I don't hear any word of mouth on it.

I own this game, I played it for about 30 mins. I just have way to many other games right now to play that I cant commit any time to this one yet.

From what I played. it was a pretty nice game and looks good. But I did not like the zoom how its setup. and I saw no other way to change this.

You have two keys for zooming In and out. The wheelmouse when I tried to zoom in barely moved the zoom. I'm not sure if that's broken or what.

So, that Is something I was going to get on the forums and ask about. because its unacceptable to not be able to use the wheelmouse for zooming In and out.

The game play seemed simple. I played a skirmish. They gave me a set amount of units to start with and a small base station and a few carries I had to protect.

There was one odd thing I saw, and that was all of the units had a colored icon over top of the unit. I did not care for that look. I can understand if you are zoomed out so you can see the unit. but not when you are fully zoomed in. the icon should remove itself at a certain zoom in point.

The battles looks good and were fun to watch.

The Space station can build turrets and other ships. The one issue I had was I clicked one of the buttons to see what I does and it destroyed my station without prompting me first. That was bad. but I'm new to the game so lesson learned.

Like I said, I only got about 30 mins in, but the game does look promising. It was a disappointment that this game has no multiplayer though. I'm not sure if the devs plan to add it later or not.

Yeah its kind of simple compared to say D:OS, but so far its fun.

The combat is okay, I've been enjoying the game a lot. Love the setting and all the places you explore.

so far, the game has been a lot of fun. Congrats the them on the game being successful. Imp sure we will see more add-ons for the game in the near future.

Anyone know if the GTX 770 is actually any better then the new GTX 970 card? I've looked over the stats, and yes the 970 does have a little better specs compared to the GTX 770. so, im wondering which card is actually better.

One other thing I did notice. does the newer cards handle power better?

The 770 has two 8 pronged plugs where the new 970 has gone back to the two 6 pronged plugs. so is this new card now more efficient with power?

The Witcher Wild Hunt isn't coming out until February 2015. But other than that, yeah, it's an embarrassment of riches this year.

The great thing about having limited time to play is that I can pick them all up in a year for way less I think I'm just going to grab The Evil Within (if reviews pan out) and Witcher 3 on release.

I've read/seen very little on Gauntlet, is it a full on modern remake?

It is a full remake, the game looks good. but there's a ongoing discussion about the games screen locking and being on a leash that's got many people upset. The discussion is, yes its a remake of the old game. but he problem is this isn't an arcade game anymore with 4 people standing over one screen.

So screen locking is a bit old fashion and very aggravating when you try to go off screen or to the side of the screen and you cant because other people are on the opposite end.

The other feature the devs for some odd reason did was make the game more about competitive mode. meaning, who gets to the gold first gets the gold first. If someone wants to be a dick and shoot the food when the warrior needs it badly. well you are now SOL.

People are worrying about griefing in the game, with the screen locking , a person could just be a dick and decide to stay on one end of the screen and not move now locking down the game because some may be pissed about something another person did In the game.

The Devs have said, they will monitor this and see how it goes. people are asking that they put an option in the game so those who want to play without the leashing can do so.

so this game is a bit of a chance if you don't care for the screen locking.

Ahh, Creston, you are always looking for something to pick about.

Yeah, sorry I'm not a mindless shill like you. I don't just eat whatever bullshit a publisher tries to feed you.

This is not an add-on. Its a full blown game. In fact the game is extensively longer then BL1 was.

Really? Based on what? Based on what Randy Pitchford has said? I'd wait until it comes out and people have played through before I'd make that statement.

Because BL1 was a pretty long game. 15 to 20 hours if you did all the main quest. longer if you did the side questing.

Exactly. Which just reinforces the idea that you probably should hold off on claims that this one is longer than BL1, because BL1 could easily go into 30-40 hours if you did all quests in your first playthrough.

But length aside, this is really no improvement over BL2. The low-grav mutator because it's on the moon thing is embarrassing enough to be touted as a feature, but it's still the same concept of four characters each with a single skill and a bunch of minor bonuses etc etc etc. It's Yet Again The Same Formula.

If people enjoy that, eh, more power to them. There must apparently have been plenty of people clamoring for "just more BL2." Selling them that for 60 bucks, though, is pretty shitty in my book.

Well, to be honest then did come out and say that this game was somewhere in-between the two games in length. So, to me that's a pretty long game.

I really enjoyed the two games, we played the hell out of them Coop. I will be playing this one Coop too with my friends.

The graphics do look like they got an upgrade. to me the colors especially do stand out more. As for game play, there are new weapons, lasers and cold type weapons. I do see where you are coming from expecting there to be more. but this is Borderlands, I'm not sure what else could be done to the game.

I'm personally looking forward to the story and how everything evolves this time around with Jack being the so called good guy turned bad guy. I really want to see how that evolves.

Maybe wait for a sale then Creston if your not that happy about the game.
