If those screenshots are anything of what this game looks like for the maps in those tiny spaces, then its gawd awful ugly. Nothing like what I remember from the original. What happened to the large open maps?

Looking at the changelog in the Steam forum, there's been a fair few patches to this since release. Anyone know if it's better now, ie it's not a buggy mess anymore?

I havent had a chance to try out the patch that came out the other day. But according to the changelog, you can now speed up the walking of the Marines. Thats a start!

You guys can laugh and make joke about this all you want, but itís really depressing when you read about this. This is exactly why our economy is like it is. There is no way to compete with this type of slave labor and exactly why the Chinese are taking away our jobs.

Im probably going to get Arma3 at some point. Once the content is there it looks like it has the hallmarks of a pretty good simulation shooter. Right now, erm. Wasteland mod doesnt cut it. Sorry.

There are countless mission made by users that are keeping this game going. I actually bought this game many moons ago when they offered it at 23 dollars. Great buy in then.

They really need to stop making add-ons with an old outdated engine and develop a new engine that is modern. When old crap like this comes out, it tells me that they have no new ideas or tech in place to develop a new engine and they are milking this cow to death.

The video was awesome (The new Garrett isn't THAT bad...) . What has me worried is that interview I read this morning.

can you say what you found was awesome by the vid? didn't look so great to me... at least it didn't look like the good 'ol Thief from back in the day.

Well as much as I love Thief and Thief 2 (even Thief 3 to a lesser extent) I'm okay with it not being exactly in the same vein. The huge dark city, the stealthy stealing of stuff that I find so goddammed addictive, and the overall mood look incredible. He is seen doing classic 'Thief' moves like using water arrows and such, so that was cool. It obviously doesn't guarantee a good game, but it was a very good trailer I thought.

I agree Prez, I think sometime people just get too caught up with wanting the game to be an exact copy of what the original was years ago. I personally didnít like Thief 2 as much as I liked the first one. I really loved going underground and fighting the undead and the wisp. That part of the game to me was a lot of fun.

I remember though that many people didnít like there being undead and complained about it which is why in part 2 you saw none of that. Probably another reason why I didnít like part 2 as much.

Still looking forward to part 3, hopefully itís still fun to roam around in the shadows.

As for him running out of Ideas, not hardly. Wargamer just recently bought the rights to TA so of course Chris is going to get to make a new TA since he now falls under them. Please keep your hate to yourself!

I'll try and explain my question in mature terms. The one quote I remember reading from the Wargamer CEO when he rescued GPG was, "I can't wait to see Wildman!" Or something very close to that. He seemed really interested in Wildman when he bought Chris's company--maybe when he discovered that the back-of-napkin pencil drawings Chris did in the Wild man videos were about as far as the game had gone in actual development, he changed his mind. Or Chris changed his mind, I don't know. It certainly seems odd, is the only reason I commented. It is a perfectly normal question that I think anyone would ask.

Look, I don't "hate" anybody--I wish people would grow up and stop using that ridiculous term any time they encounter someone who is uninterested in sharing their adoration of certain people and/or games and/or programs. I don't worship anyone, and I don't hate anyone, and asking about Wildman is a perfectly rational, valid question that frankly I'm surprised someone else didn't ask first. Wildman was the last game Chris publicly talked about...hence the rationality behind the query.

Walt, in all honesty you donít know Chris or anything really about the guy or whatís going on with his company now that they are owned by Wargamer.

Just because Wargamers CEO showed interest in Wildman, does not equate to him buying the company just so they can continue making Wildman. There are far large things going on in the back ground that you know nothing about. So letís just leave it at that okay?

That ended with him being bought out by Wargamer.

The thing that's starting to concern me about this is when launch day comes, is he going to have enough infrastructure in place to handle everyone trying to get on all at once. This has launch day failure written all over it.

So Windows 8.1 now comes with folks a bit more used to the new interface and it has improvements that address many of the things which really irritated a lot of users.

Not according to what I'm reading, Mr. Shill. I'm reading that 8.1 regresses more than it improves and that MS still isn't listening to the consumer, but is instead forcing a dumbed-down UI that we don't want on our PC's.

It does let you boot right to the desktop but they also have done some things that don't make any sense like removing scheduling from Windows Backup - at least that's what I read from the preview version of 8.1

If you install StartIsBack you can turn off annoying charm pop-up locations like upper right corner, but you'll still need to reassign your favorite programs to open files or you'll click on an image and end up in "Metro" for example. It doesn't take that much to turn it into Windows 7.5 and ignore all the junk Microsoft added including the start screen.

Sorry DangerDog, but why should I or anyone for that matter have to install a third party app to make Windows perform and act like windows? We shouldn't!

The simple fact is, M$ keep screwing over the PC and continues to not listen to the concerns of the consumer. This is what is getting them in to trouble and why many are so opposed to using Windows 8.

Its never going on my pc as long as its in the shitty state its in now.

That's just fine with me - I'll buy HL3 just because I want to see how the story ends.

I want to see how it ends to, but there are way too many gaps in the story that I would like to see closed. Like how did they go from fighting the first invasion to what seems like a second invasion that they are now allied with those same Aliens who first invaded. Totally baffling!

It amazes me that a company like Valve can squander their flagship title that made them into what they are today. I think their heads are clouded up with Steam.

I can't remember where I read it but apparently Valve makes more off DOTA 2 in like a month than they ever made off their other games. Much as I also want Half-Life 3, I think they know where their bread is buttered now. And this doesn't even count what they make from Steam.

Well, that may be true, but still Half Life made them what they are today. And to answer the other guys comment about the staleness of FPS shooters. To me, that statement would be like making only the first two Lords of the Rings movies then telling us to come back 10 years from now and maybe we will make the third part. Kind of lame if you ask me if thatís their take.

The Skill tree was upgraded adding new skills, there are now Quick Kills, and the mouse now wheels through the weapons. That to me was a big enchantment over having to radial wheel to change a weapon out. The game plays very smoothly. We had no bugs, crashes or any issues that prevented us from completing the game.

And Cutter youíre a fine one to talk about Trolls when in fact you do quite a bit yourself.

Iím not fighting over anything; I just stated an obvious fact. Now you guys are trying to say that longevity of a game is not worth the price tag. I find that comment amusing when Iíve read here several hundred times over from many that a lengthy game is what people determine as cost worthy.

But you are now saying the length of a game is not in terms of what you are paying for. I think sometimes many of you here are in fact cheap and feel that everything should be either free or 5 dollars. That to me pretty well puts the cheap tag over your head. I found the add-on to be much more fun and enjoyable then the original.

I beg to differ, 60 dollars is expensive in terms of buying a game that ONLY last 4 to 5 hours. When compared to this game when you can get well over 30 hours of game play. You must be cheap Verno!

Gameplay isn't worth anything when it isn't fun and stop being a little twerp.

Thats your opinion, maybe find some friends to play it with and it wont be so bad.
