post apocalyptic world aka we were too lazy to draw some nice backgrounds so we just took a close-up picture of our producer's grand-nephew's sandbox and altered it a bit with the least funky photoshop filters we could find.

i played it with a ps-dual shock gamepad with a usb converter on my pc.

the video with red in it got the quake2 pretty right. i liked it. but the mech looked plain crappy and the graphics don't look to great either ... at least compared to what we saw in the last days, especially for the ps3.
i hope it's fun to play ... need to do some strogg killing soon

this sure looks like crap. not enuff wars in the last century too make games of? there are still some nice south american wars left ... you could play a cia instructor teaching fascist goons how to torture revolutionaries ... what a nouvelle idea!

it is. read here: http://www.steampowered.com/?area=news
The changes in this release are directed at reducing the problem some users are experiencing with sound stuttering. The sound stuttering is not indicative of a sound problem, sound stuttering is only a symptom of texture thrashing on your video card or AGP memory. For information on how to reduce texture thrashing visit this link on our support site:
http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=280
This update will fix sound stuttering that users were experiencing that would last for longer than a few seconds during normal gameplay. This update will also eliminate this same behavior following a quicksave or autosave. There will still be a short pause while the autosave happens, but not the more drawn out stuttering behavior.
We are still investigating another performance problem on some hardware, which will manifest where the game is getting into a state where performance drops to less than 5 fps and does not recover or crashes.
Next week we will be releasing the Source SDK, along with a surprise for the community.

looks pretty dated |

psychotoxic looks like a mixture of kingpin - life of crime (which i just played again) and this strange game with the awkward controls where you played an angel that could possess humas blabla plus added physics. which means: it looks liks it has been made in 1999 or 2000 and is now released with some added, probably bought, physics engine.
lensflares anyone?

id like to summarize the outcome of the discussion thus far:
- firefox is the best browser - you need firewall and antivirus - windows is the best gaming os for x86 - hl2 will probably be the best single player game due to scripting and story. tho it doesnt look as mind-boggling as it used to, because far cry came out - doom3 will be frighting and miles ahead of everything else that comes out this or next year, graphic-wise - id software does the best graphics, but rather simple (very very simple) single player games. kind of 3d pong where you can shoot people too. this doesn't mean the games suck, they rock, but they are not as immersive as i.e. hl or gta3
my 2 cents

aftermath sucked donkey balls and this won't suck less. id rather play the original ufo anytime. AI was stupid beyond believe and the game missed a lot of features that made the original so much fun, like base building etc.

in fact the mouse works best when pointing (what a surprise, it's a pointing device!) is involved. so i use it in e.g. gta3 for the sniper weapons. i remember the prince of persia bashing thread a few days ago .... in fact prince of persia played great with dual analog joysticks, one for movement, one for camera, i didnt use the mouse once.

in fact i use a console controller too. the ps2 dualshock 2 controller with 4 shoulder buttons and dual analog controllers. please dont tell me you play gta3 or gta3 vice city with mouse and keyboard ... e.g.: it's impossible to fly the helicopters without an analog joystick. every kind of 3rd person game with running and jumping profits to a great extent from a decent controller. all you guys that always played on pcs and never had an 2600, a c64 or a amiga seriously miss out.
i paid like 10 euros for the ps2 to usb adaptor and 12 for the ps2 gamepad on ebay. you cannot get a decent native pc controller for that price.
