And BTW, no offline play, you have to be connected all the time to the net, since the game stores items and xp and data server-side.
This is one the games people will soon forget, because nobody can play this game offline, when EA shuts down the servers in two or three years. Cloud gaming, The Dark Ages of The Video Game History!

There is a reason, why these kind of games never become classics, even if the gameplay itself might be good enough. Companies are not interested in cultural and/or social advances, only in short term profit. And with the need to be online all the time, companies are shutting down older games, so that the masses will move on and buy new games.

Next time Valve, try ponying up something worth the time investment. Getting kiddies living in basements to invest dozens of hours of their meaningless lives into your ludicrous ARG isn't an accomplishment, it's just a cynical abuse of the chronically stupid.
Why? Easy prey and full wallets ...

And Microsoft is never going to put forth the kind of effort needed to really compete with Valve in the PC arena.
Which is not a good thing, because only a solid competition will prevent Valve from becoming a pain in the ass. Which will most likely happen, because too much success does that to people and companies. The unnecessary consolification of Portal 2 is one of the first signs.

I don't get why it's still enabled on this title ...
Perhaps because the game and its DLC still sells good enough. When sales drop low enough, they probably might remove the DRM to get all those people, who want the game but not the DRM.

I've heard that if everyone buy's 3 copies of all the Starcraft 2 games and Diablo 3 that the release will be earlier!
Paying for three WoW accounts for a whole year will also help.

Diablo 2 was not that good.
It was. It was that good, that it took years and several dozen attempts from other devs to finally beat the king of the genre. Which seems strange, because Diablo 2 is a very simple game, the whole ARPG genre isn't very complex. Best example of "Easy to learn, hard to master"!

But where's the harm?
It's misleading advertisment. People are tricked into buying games without having any valid influence on the release date. No, people wont die from buying those games, but people, who think they can actually determine the release date were tricked into buying these games.

And thats the "harm". A moral harm. A shady marketing deal, where lying to people seems to be somewhat ok. No, it's not.

This is just another opportunity to whinge and moan about anything.
No. It's just an opportunity to call a marketing campaign a marketing campaign, because that's what it is. Marketing to hype up people, who want to be hyped up about a video game release. And the "moaning" refers to people, who are naive enough to fell for this campaign, who think they can actually achieve something.

Honestly, GoG still irritates me a bit - ...

I am going to be buying TW2, ut this whole "We won't have DRM, but we'll absolutley ensure every other version has it" rubs me the wrong way as well. If you're anti-DRM, be anti-DRM.
They are anti-DRM. The GOG.com version has no DRM. Only Steam and other retail versions have DRM because CD Project has no control over Valve and the publishers for the retail versions. They sold distributions rights to them and now these distributors can decide in what way they will distribute the game.

No rocket science here ...

Good point, although everytime there's an update one would have to find someone/someplace with the updated GoG version and get the file again
If a game is popular enough, there will be an updated crack available only hours, seldom longer than a few days after a patch release.

Yup, everyone who buys this not from GoG is..well, not smart.
Some may want to buy the Special Collectors Edition with tons of, erm, extremly usefull stuff. Only available at retail. And the DRM can be removed, if you simple replace the dongled files with the files from the GOG.com version, so you dont have deal with Securom at all.

Funny, cos it's people who are using software for free when there is a fee required that are destructive to the industry.
How is this destructive? Have you any proof, that software piracy is damaging revenue and profits? Have you any examples of software companies going bacrupt because of piracy?

Too many people still WANT to see a problem in piracy without having a proof that piracy IS a problem. Every fuckin game, movie, music album or whatever digital media out there is pirated from day one in millions and millions and millions of copies and Hollywood made last year a new revenue record, video game companies like ActiBlizz make big cash with popular franchises, smaller video game companies or indies make a good living ... where is the problem? Why do people still buy MORE stuff every year, when they just can download this content or ask a friend to bring over his external USB hard drive for a copy session.

Where is the problem with piracy? Show me. Please.

But, hey, I don't use my brain and I just go on morals - whatever.
Yes, you don't. You just repeat some urban legend because its convinient.
