Right, because the ONLY people who would ever buy a game with online-only play are fanboys and uninformed people. Your world view is clearly well-researched.
I said nothing about those two groups being the ONLY people to buy Diablo 3. You might want to research a little bit more before commenting

What are the chances they're looking into removing persistent DRM, given the Rock-Paper-Shotgun fallout from yesterday?
Zero. Zilch. Nada. They will only change it when Diablo 3 will be a commercial failure, the explicit reason being this DRM scheme. But Diablo 3 becoming anything else than a commercial failure due to masses of fanboys and uninformed gamers ... no chance of happening, ever!

Pretty good article but sadly, it won't convert any console gamers into PC gamers.
Why should they? Console gamers only want to have a fun game experience on their platform of choice. And more console gamers realizing that the majors consider them stupid consumer sheeple who will endure ANYTHING to get their gaming fix, the better.

You see their new front page? Totally copied Steam, lol.
Since Gamestop started to sell Steam games via Impulse ... where is the problem?

Not sure what all the complaining is about?
Because it was too effin easy. As a RPG veteran, you had to stick to leather armor on the highest difficulty setting to make this game at least a bit interesting. The story, the dialog and characters were incredibly shallow and dumb. Right out dumb! Graphics and art were nice, from a technical view this game was a solid release. But the gameplay, the story and writing ... they didnt even try. This is the perfect example of game which makes your brain shrink while playing.

NO! Diablo 3 should NOT have been first person. Because its called "Diablo 3".

That said, i dont have anything against a game like Dark Messiah, set in the Diablo universe. But only as an additional, supplemental game, like Renegade was only a shooter set in the C&C universe, but it was NOT Command & Conqer 3.

The problem is, of course, that this isn't what these studios are making. They just want to make a shooter and dump the name on top for some recognition. They will maybe throw in something that references the original IP...but that will be as far as things go.
And thats exactly what happens most of the times. A dev comes up with a prototype of a certain gameplay genre. The publisher, who will finance this project, is not very convinced that a new, unknown IP will sell enough, so they take a better known, already established name from their IP archive, slap it onto the prototype and *bang* we have X-COM, Syndicate or this stupid little Wing Commander arcade game on XBLA. Or Command & Conquer 4 which was in its early days a multiplayer-only RTS without any reference to the C&C universe until some EA guy slaps Kane onto the project and tells the dev to use the C&C setting, because that might help sell this RTS better.

I was refering to the typical "We have to do this or that" when someone only expresses his opinion about things he liked. This was not about being right or wrong with a certain topic.

People need to move on for fuck's sake.
People need to learn, that a trailer IS JUST A TRAILER AND NOT THE GAME. People need to learn to avoid such emotional hype traps, which they all create by themselves. No "The publishers marketing is evil!". Well, it is evil most of the time but not with trailers which have clearly no actual gameplay in them.

I suspect Xbox LIVE for Windows 8 will just be a renamed Games For Windows LIVE.
Jepp. From what i have seen in the demos, this will be a renamed GfWL plus a smoother integration of the XBOX marketplace. Nothing more, nothing less.

Of course, GfWL will remain a stupid, unusable shit and the marketplace will not be in the slightest a danger for Steam or other services, because there is no value for a PC gamer to use that, besides some exclusive indie games MS bought to push this service. And for buying music or videos ... really? The XBOX marketplace makes only sense for console customers to manage their accounts across two plattforms.

No, they changed everything in the final game. It comes with perks and Teabagging-Hotkeys and unlockable, fashionable uniforms in modern trend colors.

Of course, all of this stuff is a bit too deep for your standard military shooter, which firmly targets the Michael Bay demographic.
"Michael Bay's Splosions!" would be an awesome game title for a simple military script shooter with an "awesome button" gameplay. I wonder why this hasnt been done before ...

Please stop raping the strategy classics in the interest of trying to appeal to the ADHD crowd.
Dear Prez:

As long as the publishers make good money from the AHD crowd, we will make those games, because our employers say so. And if we had enough, we quit and start making little indie games, which are becoming more popular every year. So ... dont fret, just ignore the majors and their mass products.

Have you played Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 or New Vegas? If you're a hardcore PC gamer, you should at least play New Vegas, as it's easily the best RPG since Arcanum.
I tried every Bethesda RPG since Arena, i skipped only Fallout 3. And New Vegas being from Obsidian, that might be some fun, still havent played it yet. As i said, still too many games on my play list, too little time besides work and family.

I cant help it, but Bethesdas gameplay design is BOOORING as hell to me. I can play a few hours, i wander around the landscape, i can acknowledge the beautiful settings ... but then i just quit the game and have no motivation to ever come back and finish it. I'm not a fan of sandbox worlds in RPGs, i like my thick red story thread

I beg to differ. Not for PC gamers in general. Only for people who care about these games. I'm a PC gamer and i'm not interested in Bethesda RPGs since effin boring Arena. I'm not interested in military shooters. And for Rage ... someday i might play it, but Rage isn't a must-have.

I still have so many unplayed games left on my list, i dont need no more new games for the next two or three years
