Hmmm.... nowhere in their statement do they say they're doing well financially. Instead they only deny the rumors that they're bankrupt.
And no rumor said, that they are

Every rumor only reported financial troubles, missing paychecks and struggling projects. But soon they will be bancrupt, if there is no miracle around.

Crytek was lying to all customers about DX10 requirement since they were paid by Microsoft to push Vista on those who were still using Windows XP. I say let Crytek burn, reap what you sow.
Remember that 64bit version of Far Cry 1? Exclusive only (!) for owners of the AMD64 chipset? With big marketing bruhaha from Herr Yerli? Guess what ... all additional effects were later recreated by modders for 32bit systems.

So basically this is sort of like what happened with id Software ...
No. Concentrating on the console market wasnt the problem. 800 employees with too few game releases. And those releases were not very successful. Hence ... not enough money to pay those 800 people. THAT is the problem with Crytek.

That said, it seems more like everyone is either going Unity (Especially indies), or Unreal. iD has no Tech 5 sales to speak of, and Cry Engine has a handful compared Unreal and Unity.
As far as i know, Unity and the UE are very easy to learn and to master in comparison to the CryEngine, which is the most powerful engine available at the moment, but requires a LOT of work.

I ran this game only to discover there's no mouse inversion option.

Thus, a waste of $2.50.

Dont do it, dont buy it. I heard ... Gossip ... that Chris "The Sellout" Roberts was involved!!!!!!! Probably. Somehow. He bought himself in with all the monies from SC, only that he can sell himself out.

I'm not sure what crossplay means exactly... I'm assuming it means the multiplayer will be set up in such a way that when you buy a game from the humble store it will still be able to connect.
I understand it that way too. There is no need to have the COG client to play with others, the client doesnt lock you in for multiplayer.

Another company killed by EA, next up Bioware!
Just wait until the release of Dragon Age 3. If this game will not sell at least several million units, preferably more than 5 mio., Bioware will be a thing of the past. Anything less than mega-blockbuster sales are not enough for the dire needs of EA.

cant remember any other game going there in such a historical context
There was an old game "Seven Cities of Gold", released in 1985(?), using the same scenario. After that? Not one i can remember.

And i LOVE EC. I like the writing, the dialogue, the characters. The moral choices and their consequences and the solid, turn based combat.

Best game of 2013 no one played

A possible HL3 hint and only 30 comments so far? Valve would be smart to NOT make HL3. There is no interest in it anymore

The game is $20, not $30.
$30 includes the soundtrack, $20 only the game without the soundtrack.

Hopefully we won't see it with DOOM 4 using the idTech 6 engine.
I doubt that we will see Doom 4 at all. I doubt that we will see idTech 6 after Carmack left. There is no one left an id, who is able to do that.

And yes, idtech 5 is horrible. Only good for rendering highly detailled, vast landscapes and nothing more.

Why do people accept this practice? If EA or Ubi did it, we would have their heads on a stick, so why do indies get a free pass?
Because they clearly say that the game is Early Access, that it is NOT a finished product, that the official commercial release is still in the future.

Why do YOU do not get that?

I think the trailer is intentionally bad, in a way of calling back to not only 90s trailer but also the short 'DNF is not dead' trailer 3DRealms did in (I believe) 2009.
Looking at the Rise of the Triads-Remake ... do you think they made this remake intenionally bad too? Because its more cool that way?

boycott BFG Edition... buy vanilla Doom 3 instead. original's a lot better and supports mods.
Last week i installed vanilla D3 + addon, installed highres textures, installed Sikkmod to spice up all other visuals, including some form of duct tape mod and some gameplay enhancements. Having such a blast!

BFG edition? Wahahaha ... no, thank you.

The German government obviously thinks that It is bad to shoot nazis.
No. There are laws against showing swastikas and other symbols of the Third Reich in games and other media NOT being a movie. If there ever will be a Wolfenstein movie, there is no law against showing these symbols in the movie.

Yes, it's a crappy stupid law, but it's about showing certain symbols. Shooting virtual people in games is NOT prohibited.
