The problem with publishers saying it supports widescreen is that they don't say if it's proper support. Many of the games touting widescreen give you a chopped view.

I really like the way the game looks and plays, cept for the head bob. HL2 and Stalker are good example of what an art team can do with 7 years of dev time, even with an engine that is behind the times.

Play any 360 port then load up any top notch PC shooter and you can see that they use much larger textures. Just look at that guy who's redoing all of Oblivion textures. It's like night and day.

However, this gives me hope:

Are there any lessons from other games that the team has learned and is using when making BioShock?

Many developers making their first console games have encountered stumbling blocks. As we're quite experienced on the PC, we're focusing a huge amount of effort to make sure the 360 version of BioShock is world class. However, we are using a sub-team in house at Irrational dedicated to the specific interface and user needs that PC gamers demand.

If they're not completely full of crap like Bethsoft, we should be ok, cept for the low res textures.

You just described SS2 with your description of BioShock. Except that Bioshock is, I've read, an open underground city you can explor.

I still remember all of the glowing promises from Bethsoft about Oblivion. They talked about making sure that the PC version had a PC centric interface. Then they release that turd and the UI's are identical. Even with all of the PC useres crying foul, they didn't even bother to have someone rework it, hell the game only got one patch.

Bethesda won't be getting any more of my money.

Dexter isn't out on DVD yet. I'll also chime in as saying it's the best show going right now.

Chair update, I've heard some good things about this chair:

I'm actually in the market for a new chair mtself and may check it out.

I don't know where to shop for good chairs, but I do know that you can't get any really good ergonimic chair at those places. I'll give my folks a call later and ask them, they're big into the chairs with proper support. However, the chairs that are built to last with really good support tend to cost a lot more than regular chairs.

6. Re: Is Windows more expensive Feb 27, 2007, 16:48 Cabezone

Correct, do do a clean install you have to first install xp, then Vista. However the OEM version is cheaper anyway. The way that the liscensing works on that is that you are considered the system builder and must provide your own tech support. Since I imagine most people on here have never called M$ tech support it's not much of a loss.

As for upgrading/reinstalls you shouldn't have a problem with it even with entire system changes. You'll just have to call M$ to reactivate if too many parts change. I reinstall my OEM XP at least every year and the call is fairly painless. I just tell them my old shit fried and I had to install new stuff. The people in India don't give a crap.

I think that this is more like NWN nights mixed with Oblivion. It has a single player portion in the world that only activates in singles player mode. There is also a multiplyer mode that will allow a number of people(not clear here, earlier they were saying 4-8 but it sounds like they want it larger) to play in the gameworld with the main quest disabled. So you will be able to do all of the other quests in multiplayer mode. Sorta like those static worlds in NWN.

I've been following this game and I do not think that they are going with some kind of pay MMORPG system. I think that there's just something being lost in the actual translation.

Enahs,

You are arguing with a government drone, he long ago lost the ability to think for himself.

Havn't you seen MiB?

there is zero reason for a gamer to upgrade to vista anytime soon. Early adoption of a new OS leads to mroe headaces than it's worth. There's isn't even drivers for half my hardware.

Did you seriuosly use "tactical combat" to describe Halo?

Anyway the entire UT and Quake seriers has better combat than Halo. You just can't compare a console shooter with autoaim and a targeting reticle thats 1/4 of the screen, to a PC shooter. You just can't.
