To be honest the mouse+keyboard could use some updating. I could go for a gamepad like device to replace the keyboard. Something with a stick like a gamepads under your thumb for fine tuned movement would be awesome.

A lot like some of the crappy keyboard replacements out there, but with the good stick. Maybe even just a keyboard with the stick below the space key would work.

Dagok,

I know that Duke3d allowed you to look up and down with the mouse, but that was not necessary for aiming. You actually couldn't look up and down more than about 45 degrees from center, but you could still hit people directly above you because of the autoaiming.

Ray,

One quick thing about the Duke 3d vertical axis, the game autoaimed vertically for you. Which is why you sorry keyboard users could compete at all. No matter how high above you the person was, as long as you had the correct horizontal aim it would hit the person above you.

BTW, I'd have crushed your sorry keyboard using self in Duke, even with the lame vertical autoaiming.

It's sorta like saying that using a shotgun to blast the top off a target at 50m takes the same amount of skill as drilling a bullet between the eye at 50m with a pistol.

I assure you they are not equal.

I noticed almost immediately the low res textures on everything, it's something I tried to point out to the Gears fanboys to little effect. It the one thing that has always bothered me about consoles, the extreme lack of memory for textures. Most console games use a lot of blurring/post processing effects to shine over this problem.

If you ever compare the screenshots of the new Oblivion textures to the shit ones it shipped with, you can see how much they have to compromise for consoles. I doubt Bioshock ships with better textures for the PC.

It's not enough to seriously detract from my enjoyment of the game though.

Add to the list, truly high speed play. A lot of people say CoX is fast, but it's only quick in comparison to other MMORPGs. Granted the combat isn't as quick as a tactical shooter, but you can dispose of enemy groups very quickly, especially if you're a grenadier.

Crysis will be a good game because Far Cry was a good game. I don't think anybody thinks it's going to be revolutionary in any sense except maybe graphics.

Tabula Rasa is heading towards being released unfinished. The only thing unique about it is it's fast paced combat and eventually they will have capturable enemy bases working. Other than that it's pretty basic. That being said, I rather enjoy it and will be preordering it. I wish more MMORPGs would have the speed of combat this game has.

I also think that the game Garriott wanted to make didn't work out and they retooled to this just to get something out the door.

BTW crouching behind cover can reduce the damage you take by up to 75%..or 50% I can't remember the max. Just crouching in the open increases damage output.

I've always wanted to see one also. I'd actually like to plan a trip around one, but they get delayed a lot so it'd be a crapshoot.

Blue, that newstarget site is garbage hippy alternative medicine pap. It's loaded with fake science and I'm hoping your readers realize it. That sunscreen article is amazingly off base. Just read the "about me" on the site. Here's some key quotes:

"the vast majority of all diseases can be easily prevented and even cured without drugs or surgery."

"Real cures exist right now for diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, osteoporosis, and many other so-called "diseases.""

He's doing it because the studio had it in his contract that he was not allowed to do the final editing and they drastically changed the tone and ending of the movie. A lot of first time directors do not have full control over their early works. Once they become famous the studios can make more money off a director's cut version and allow them to make the version they wanted. If I was a director I'd do the same thing.

Do you think Picasso would be happy if he turned in his work to the gallery and they painted over some shit to make his work more pleasing to the audience?

What's he's actually saying is that they push the perception that you NEED one of those cards to enjoy PC gaming. What he wants is for people to realize that they can have a good experience with one of their cheaper cards.

Right cause all of the other devs are so honest about their games.

I can see the press release now: A pretty good mishmash of a FPS with some AI problems.

Dude, there is no earlier work for it to be a prequel of. If in the Painkiller time line it is after the original Painkiller it is a sequel by definition. If another ones comes out after it that'll make it a sequel to this one.

Does the PC version include the countless mods that actually make it the PC version?

Hey I remember that, great game. Although I didn't know it was remade, I played it back in 88 or so. Man that was a long time ago, I was only 11!

That's the version I played.
