Bats, try Ripit4Me then dvdshrink. I've used DVD Shrink in Vista 32 without a problem, not 64 tho.

Edit: The 3.0 version of Clone DVD does compress 9 to 5.

I am under the impression that you cannot even RIP CD's with Vista.

Then you're much too easy to impress. I've ripped just about everything out there. I even toyed around with HD DVDs without a problem.

For $1500 these TVs should include every cable imaginable.

Much like top end motherboards. Hell even the cheap motherboards toss some cables.

Hump...the firing reticle in Halo is ginormous...as are the hitboxes, anything inside that huge ass reticle is a hit. Whereas in games like Quake and CS it's pinpoint. Hell in Quake games a lot of people just use a dot.

Shadowrune ended up with all inaccurate spray and pray style weapons. Obviously with that styl of game it's going to be a lot closer.

Have any of you played Metroid prime? I'm guessing not, it's controls are far superior to any other console shooter. I would prefer to do without the other motion controls, but I hope all consoles in the future include a pointer option.

2. Re: Keyboard+mouse Vs Gamepad Dec 28, 2007, 14:08 Cabezone

It depends entirely on the game. In a slower tactical game the gamepad would be closer, especially if fast movements cause the cone of fire to spread. In a Quake style game where I can do a 180 and headshot someone with the railgun, the gamepad is woefully outmatched.

People can get really good at using a gamepad, but people can also get awesome at driving Mack Trucks. That doesn't mean they can take that truck and compete in Nascar.

They're facing 48 years of prison, dude.. that's a death sentence. I'm surprised there's such a high penalty, since the teens admitted to their guilt and clearly show remorse over it. I wouldn't have expected more than 25 years.

They deserve hanging, this wasn't an accident. They beat a little girl to death.

"broken wrist, bleeding in the neck, swelling of the brain and more than 20 bruises"

Being drunk is just bullshit. I don't care if they show remorse. They're only upset because now they're in trouble. Had they just beat the little girl and no one knew, they wouldn't feel bad.

I really hope he doesn't direct. If he does he will take what should be a light fantasy romp and try to turn it into a ponderous epic. Hopefully he's learned his lesson with that overlong turn King Kong...there was a good 2 hour movie buried under all those bugs.

the res of the new monitor is essentially identical to your current one, you're just gong to have more on the sides. Picture your current screen with 2 more inches in each direction. If your current screen is 19" then the 22", I think, should be roughly the same size vertically.

You can usually get them to display non native resolutions, which usually look like ass. The higher the native res, the better a non native one will looke. They're got more pixels to "fake" the non native res with.

Yeah that's what I want to do, spend 30 minutes gathering firewood and watching my character sit by a fire to warm up....that sounds awesome.

What would be even more awesome is to take the simulation even further. No healing, as soon as you get shot, the game is over! That would be great fun....with no saving!

20. Re: STALKER is an RPG anyway Dec 17, 2007, 19:58 Cabezone

STALKER isn't really an FPS anyway. It has an annoying encumbrance system, has a complicated and annoying inventory system, makes you take on quests so you can earn money to buy better equipment, and you have to eat food periodically or your character will die. What fun! STALKER should have been advertised as an RPG in the first place, not an FPS.

You're a moron, I'm suprised you can remember to breath. Unless you bought the game only looking at the front of the box, you knew it was a FPS/RPGish kind of game. There isn't a preview/review out there that didn't mention that stuff. Fuck it's even listed as a RPG/shooter at shitstop.

Yeah but co-op doesn't give them enough $$$$$$ to flee Russia and live like fat cats. Of course, neither would a bug ridden MMORPG.

I think that they mean the current version of the game would be too much work to patch in co-op. The MMORPG version I assume would be completely rewritten.

You know as much as I think a MMORPG STALKER would be very cool. I don't think these guys could pull it off. I'm just now getting around to finishing it off with the latest patch. It's a kickass game, but they sure took their time ironing the kinks out.....then again, at least they did iron them out.

31. Re: Samsung 4061 Dec 17, 2007, 15:09 Cabezone

I just took a look at your user manual...looks like you may be SOL. The only 16:9 res it accepts from a PC, DVI or VGA, is 1920x1080. The rest of the resolutions it lists are all 4:3.

Still, I recommend picking up a DVI to HDMI cable and giving it a shot. I don't know why it would accept a 720p signal from a cable box and not a PC.

23. Re: Samsung 4061 Dec 17, 2007, 13:47 Cabezone

It "should" be able to take lower resolutions. At the very least it says it supports: 720p/960p. Now 720p is actually a few different resolutions, so you should be able to lower it. The problem may not be with the set but with the way your computer is recognizing the screen.

What happens when you set a lower res? Can you set a lower res for the desktop? Are you using VGA or DVI/HDMI? It's likely a driver issue of some kind. It's possible that you may have to build some custom resolutions.

I successfully set up my pop with a 1080p 32" LCD TV, easier to see for his weakening vision. I've been able to set lower resolutions for it when necessary. Which isn't too often since he has me keep his computer up to date.
