19. Monster asteroid flyby excites doomsters Sep 27, 2004, 15:17 Absolution

The NEO that whacked into what is now Mexico 65 million years ago, ending the long reign of the dinosaurs, is estimated to have been between five and 15 kms across, packing a 30 to 100 million-megatonne punch.

Ouch. That's a lot of megatonnes. So the question is, which side of the world would you like to be on or would it even matter at that size? I wonder if it's just total destruction on a planet scale or does one side just die from extreme temperatures and weather?

So Gabe, Valve, VU ...... Please keep up the delays cause its gonna get the same treatment as any other game when you do release it ill play it for a while then toss it aside like a rag doll.

And then you will marvel at how accurately the box bounces off the walls in your house and tumbles down a flight of stairs.

I'm not completely familiar with Steam as I'm on dial-up, but I don't think it will ever be much cheaper than retail. Sure, they don't have to worry about publishing and boxes, but they still have to advertise. Moreover, they have to run and maintain servers indefinitely, pay for bandwidth, pay for support, etc... I think people have this idea that servers and bandwidth are free boxes that just sit there and require no attention. :/

14. Powerpoint Breakup Sep 24, 2004, 09:13 Absolution

That's awsome. Although, judging by the contents, I'd say she probably read the first 2 slides before phoning him and ranging on him. I hope he manned up and stuck to it.

I knew a girl like that. She was ALWAYS in a relationship, but after a while would get bored and start hanging out with other guys who were her 'friends'. Of course, boyfriend gets jealous, she gets defensive, long break-up, rinse repeat...

Pretty much webdemon. I'm a legit 2K user as well. I prefer it over XP. It serves all of my purposes fully so why would I upgrade? It's not like I'm using 95. It's ridiculous if they don't support it. Mozilla here I come. I already own it, but have still used IE out of laziness. This may force me to switch permanently. I'd prefer not to have my computer taken over just by visiting a web page thanks.

39. Interstate Bakeries files for bankruptcy Sep 23, 2004, 14:25 Absolution

You know that's kind of sad. This whole low carb thing is annoying. Hop on the bandwagon people. There is no scientific proof that low carb is a safe and effective diet. Yes, eating bacon and steak all of the time is healthy. :/ In Canada they are drafting laws to stop low carb advertising on these grounds.

20. Re: Daredevil Sep 22, 2004, 10:28 Absolution

I'm not sure why the Daredevil movie gets so much flack. It had some definite weak points to be sure, but it was an entirely decent movie on the whole. I think it gets FAR more criticism than it deserves. Any superhero movie that was 'only' as good as Daredevil would be doing okay.
Shadowcat, have you ever read ANY of the Daredevil comics? Have you read the Frank Miller Daredeveil? The movie was a travesty, it was awful. Yes there was some cool action but the bastardization of all that made Daredevil cool in the comic books was utterly lost in translation. Casting Jennifer Garner as Elektra is almost as big of a mistake as casting Affleck, who IMO was and continues to be one of Hollywoods most overrated actors. The movie failed to capture any of the spirit of the book.

I wasn't familiar with the comic and I still thought it was weak. Bad actor choices and a horrible plot are the good points of this cookie cutter commercialized action flick. Other than that, it was good.

12. Re: Satellite Broadband Sep 22, 2004, 09:25 Absolution

Satellite Broadand is fine as long as you realize you are looking at pings approaching the half second range. You won't be playing games on that. Maybe look for a wireless carrier in your area. That's becoming more common as well.

still have over half(?) of Doom 3 to play. I'm just not enjoying it very much...can't seem to get into it.

If I had a dime for every time I read that sentence or one like it... Seriously, I hear that all the time, and I am the same. I got about half way through in the few sessions I played when I first got it. I haven't touched it in a month. I have been busy, but still. I was impressed by the graphics, but I wouldn't call it addicting.

What's really nice is that it will all be available for searching and data mining. For example, you are be able to do BLAST searches on unknown sequences.

Enter your own sequence here for fun and profit: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/seq/HsBlast.html

13. Tickle Ads Sep 16, 2004, 11:10 Absolution

I'm not complaining that you have ads because I fully understand, but those ads are pathetic. Carbon copied faked personals constructed from pictures that I'm sure weren't authorized. So sad if someone actually buys into that crap. Oh, and girls using online personals probably don't look like the girls in those pictures. End rant.

Unless they are rude I give 20%. If I can afford to go out to dinner I can afford to add 20%. Still, Mr. White makes good points. Our traditions say to tip some people and not others even though they all work hard serving customers and probably all get an equal percentage of 'clowns'.

Hmm, I want to rent Reservoir Dogs again now. I think I read about 20 pages.

What is MoH and all the expansions like compared to CoD, specifically the single player? Would it be worth picking up one of those all-in-one boxes if I enjoyed CoD?

Women make a lot more in tips compared to men as well.

Also, have you ever noticed that all trendy restaurants higher like 80% cute females and have a few token guys?

6. Re: Sinlge Player Lockups... Sep 14, 2004, 12:05 Absolution

Anyone else with a Radeon have the single player game lockup on them? Seems to be a video issue, but the odd thing is that multiplayer works great. I'd like to pick up this expasion, but not if I'm not going to be able to play through it.

This depends on what drivers you are using. If you aren't using the latest I suggest you update. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro and I remember having issues with the game when it first came out. ATI released a patch very promptly though and I haven't had problems since. Good luck.
