This is the way most PS3 auctions are ending on ebay:

Too many people bought them to sell on ebay. They created an artificial demand. It has most definitely stabilized, in fact it looks like they are going to have an over supply after the holidays are over.

6. Re: SP3 will do 1080i Dec 3, 2006, 14:54 BIGtrouble77
I've been running games at 1920x1200 on my laptop for a year now.... In linux no less. Even strategy games like CivIV look like nextgen xbox360/ps3 titles.

8 years of gaming at that res is not true, but it has definitely been possible for the past 2 years.

I'll also note that the graphics are very fun for a game of this type. Kinda has that living board game feel, and it looks absolutely gorgeous at 1920x1200. It's one of those games that really won't age over time.

I don't think the screenshot looks so bad, but has there ever been a female Jaffa?

I don't understand why the developers of the stargate mmo are blogging so much being that the project just started several months ago.

Now SCI-FI can replace that time slot with another wrestling show.
I'm so pissed scifi is abandoning their loyal fan base for the inbreds that watch pro wrestling.

A stargate mmorpg could be a great success, but I doubt most developers could do it justice.

News Comments > AMD to Buy ATI
22. Re: FoxConn Jul 24, 2006, 11:52 BIGtrouble77
I can't believe the assumptions some fo you are coming to. I really don't see this as being a big deal. AMD would be so foolish to alienate intel and nvidia users. Those individuals probably make up a huge portion of amd's customer base.

My reasoning is that AMD is desperate to get more laptop marketshare. If they have a centrino-like solution then it could be a very attractive platform. AMD is doing this for long term security. As some have eluded to, AMD simply wants to be a solutions provider. To automatically assume that they'd alienate intel and nvidia users is without merit.

That episode of Deadwood definately ranks as one of the greatist hours of television i've ever seen. It feels like the show has been running for 10 seasons. That's because the character development has been phenominal.

1. Wii article dumb. Jun 23, 2006, 11:24 BIGtrouble77
So the article's author, Anca Rusu, is essentially reporting that Nintendo is using NEC DRAM. Should be a pretty boring article except for the fact that he decides to do some commentary at the end:
As you know, no technical details were given regarding the upcoming Wii. But, if we are to take into consideration the price, which was announced to be less expensive than PlayStation 3ís and Xbox 360ís, we can affirm that the consoleís capabilities will not be so striking.

That's honestly one of the stupidest comments i've ever read from a "technical editor".

Everyone here with more than 500 posts should just be banned. I can't read the friggin comments anymore cause you a-hole regular posters could turn a care bears game thread into a flame war. You guys aren't the only ones here, cut the crap.

Don't forget kids have every right to come here too.

If you've bothered to read any of the articles posted here regarding this, Rome has absolutely nothing to do with it.
If you bothered to read any other sources you'd see that people working within the show have speculated that Rome's damage control has lead to Deadwood's cancelation.

Makes perfect sense, cancel the second most popular show on HBO because Rome is bleeding the network dry.

3. Re: re:Windows Vista Beta 2 Sucks. May 25, 2006, 09:14 BIGtrouble77
Linux has the same problem. If someone has a problem with the installation the OS immediately sucks and is impractical. If all goes well it's better than sliced bread.

Problem is, hardware/install issues are usually a result of poor 3rd party drivers. People also seem to loose sight of the purpose of a beta test.

1. Horrid GalCiv Review... Apr 20, 2006, 11:08 BIGtrouble77
The GalCiv review is absolutely pathetic. I'm quite certain the the reviewer didn't even play a game to completion. How can you rate a game with the scope of galciv in one page?

I hate being one of these stardock fanboys, but if your're gonna give a game a 60/100 at least have the balls to play it through and give some constructive criticism other than I'm too stupid to understand the interface and tech tree.

16. Re: forced ad viewing Apr 19, 2006, 13:58 BIGtrouble77
There are consumers out there that want content control like this. I was reading a thread on slashdot last week that reviewed rockbox (opensource firmware) for the ipod. Turns out the VAST majority of posters were mac fanatics...

They venomously defended apple's drm initiatives and requirement to use itunes to interface with the ipod. When I suggested that rockbox is simply a solution for users like me that want to use ogg's, flac's and a umd device I got flamed to hell. Basically I was labeled a pirate and an OSS zealot.

My point is that there is a HUGE block of consumers that embrace content control and rights management. People find too much choice too confusing so they go the simplicity route. As a result content providers make it very inconvenient to not use their drm technologies which creates a lot of backlash towards open solutions.

As ridiculous as these abusive broadcast flags sound, they are coming and they are probably going to be accepted by the vast majority of the public. Who would have though DRM would be considered a great feature?

6. Re: Yes Mar 30, 2006, 15:23 BIGtrouble77

I hear the end game bogs down a lot, to the point where I've heard a few people say that they beat 4 or 5 games and then didn't feel the urge to pick it up again. Since bogged-down endgames are kind of the norm for 4X games, I get the impression that the endgame portion is just too long. Any comments?
It's really not bad at all. I played a game all the way through on intellient difficulty with all the races in the gigantic universe.

The only pain in the ass is upgrading fleets to new ship designs, which is critical. I won the game with an influence victory, but I could have won MUCH earlier with a tech victory. IMO, the tech victory is way too easy to accomplish. The fact that the AI appears to only surrender to other races and not the conquering race is soooooo frustrating and unrealistic.

If you don't want to deal with too much micro management then make a smaller, clustered galaxy. If you use all of the tools presented to you, like waypoints, ship design and
governors the micromanagement is minimal. You do need to keep your empire tidy or it'll be hell late in the game. But that's not the game's fault.
