Prefer to celebrate our local firemen or teachers.

What does that actually entail?

Apparently complaining about anything that doesn't.

Sadly you missed the best Grammys in years.
Seriously the performances were amazing. Imagine dragons did not disappoint. Metallica with Long the amazing pianist performing one was sick. Nin peforming at the end. Seriously was a great grammys.

And the pro-bowl.. was the closest pro-bowl in years and actually fun to watch. So yes you did miss out And you missed out big time.

I'm not trying to make either of these spectacles seem inherently bad, they're just not my cups of tea.

Football is supposed to be a competition, and having a game where the outcome is basically meaningless has never appealed to me, even if the outcome is close. And having it conducted between teams that were chosen up between two non-coaches just makes it seem that much more gimmicky and less appealing to me. At least in the past you could say the NFC or the AFC won or lost. A couple of years from now when they say Team Rice beat Team Sanders you won't even be able to remember who played for whom.

As for the GRAMMYs, its the opposite. Music is supposed to be art, not a competition, and declaring "winners" at it seems extremely self-indulgent to me, especially hearing the artists go on about how meaningful it all is.

I'll give Banshee a try, hopefully it has some cute chicks!

I typically only watch a show if there is a strong female lead. Orphan Black was really good, it surprised me. I can't believe Tatiana plays 6 or so different characters so convincingly. Extremely well written and acted thriller.

Not a chance you'll be disappointed in that regard. Banshees's very strong female lead is very attractive, but the other three female regulars make her seem plain by comparison. And they just introduced a new character who's also extremely pretty, so she may end up a regular.

Did you put the butter on the outside of the sandwich? Why? Why is that even legal?!

As harlock implied, that really is key to the process of grilling bread... a Reuben is not the most common sandwich, but anyone who makes grilled cheese will tell you it's all about the butter.

I think you meant to say Reuben. A Monte Cristo is something completely different... (essentially a ham and cheese sandwich that has been battered and fried, usually served with raspberry preserves).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reuben_Sandwich

yup, but no - there is no Corned Beef in his sammich though....my favorite one is here in town by my house, uses BEEF BRISKET instead. just had one yesterday.

Yes, but he is correct... I meant to say Reuben. I was inspired when I saw a profile on some restaurant where the Reuben is different every day, because they could use any meat and it came out great, which made me think of making one with chili.

Annual failure rates are all over the map ranging from as low as 0.9% to as high as 25.4% - and one drive hit 120%.

How do you get a 120% failure rate o_O ? Are they using some kind of multidimensional measurement where the drives are even failing in realities where they're not supposed to? If so that's a pretty crappy hard-drive, but it'd be invaluable to scientific research.

People keep bringing this up as an anomaly. I'd assume a 120% annual failure rate means they average 1.2 failures per year with that model. Seems high, but nothing about that breaks mathematics.

In this day and age how could you not find the office? Was it in some secret underground bunker where you had to do the Get Smart thing and start off in a phone booth to get to it?

Because it was in a giant sprawling strip mall that gave the same street address to dozens of stores, none of which was marked as a doctor's office that I could see in the encroaching darkness.

Before you decide to have surgery, go see one of these guys first. I've been treated by an active release specialist on and off since 2006, and he's fixed my back pain, controls my RSI, helped treat my torn achilles tendons, treated my torn thumb ligament and I'm probably forgetting a few things. He's fixed my wife's hip pain.

I actually go see him first if something aches rather than my normal doctor.

A colleague of mine had "chronic back pain", as he described it, and I kept pushing him to go see the Active Release guy. He wouldn't go, wouldn't go, saying that he'd seen a dozen chiropractors, all of whom said that his problem was "just chronic."

He finally went, probably more to get me to stop bugging him than because he believed it would help. Three months later his chronic back pain was gone.

Seriously, go see one. It might not do anything, but if he/she can save you a surgery...

I'll look into this further, but at a glance this does not seem likely to apply to my condition, as the Wiki article on this talks of being most effective at dealing with adhesions and scar tissue. When I hurt my arm, I could feel something tear and have never been able to throw overhand properly since. Some testing will tell us what's up, and there are lesser injuries that can respond to non-surgical options, but I strongly suspect I have a full-thickness rotator cuff tear, which is something that will not respond to physical therapy.

Injuries from service are a b*tch... I have bad knees and a sore back from my 7 years I had spent in the Military and deployed to Iraq.

Military service appears to age your body an extra 10 years.

Seems like you might be taking the "weekend warrior" thing the wrong way, as I never served in the military. That's an old cliche for people who spend most of their week sitting on their asses only to overdue their sports on the weekend. In my case, it was millions of softball games, which I think caused all the wear-and-tear on my shoulder, though the actual injury (which I've always presumed is a rotator cuff tear) came from throwing a wet football. I had a knee scoped years ago, and I'm betting the same will happen to the shoulder.

Anyway, that's all nothing compared to your military experience, so I feel sheepish that I even invoked that thought... I'm not sure how I could handle a seven-year vacation in that area, much less seven years of conflict.

In posting that? I assume so. It's surely a scam, as there's no Fallout 4 beta to generate keys for, but even if it wasn't a scam, that would not be something to post here.

Anyways was a great season, and an improvement from last year. We had more injuries all year then any team, so i'm really looking forward to next year. For now i'll be rooting for everybody but new england.

According to this, the Giants lost the most starts to injury this year.

In reality - nothing will happen they won't catch them. Video is crap and all they did was break a window.

Do I qualify as too cynical for thinking this may be a publicity stunt?

They're talking about blacking out the game in Green Bay for the sake of less than 3000 tickets? What a crock of doody.
Gotta protect those billionaire owners! After all they do so much for the city!

Since the Packers are a non-profit organization owned by a consortium of everyday fans, they are the one team that should probably not be cited in such a comment about billionaire owners. And when you have a national sports team in a town like Green Bay, Wisconsin (population 306K), it seems safe to say the team is probably doing a lot for the city.

Enh, too late to switch, Blue, just pick on BTI.

As I already mentioned, this was not about switching, it was for a bracket pool specific to the playoffs, so I picked on BTI too, but they are just lumping those in with the regular season results.
