I think the real question is what the hell are they doing with 30 gigs of data, not whether we can spare it.
My WoW directory has been as large as 9 gigs (with a bunch of addons/screenshots/testrealm crap). Oblivion is also 8 gigs, Crysis is 6 gigs. What does AoC have that takes four times as much room as these games? |

7900GTX < X1950XT <.....(huge gap here)...8800GTS 328 megs < 8800GT 512 megs < 8800GTS 512 megs
I'm guessing if you want to run the game at 1650 x 1080 or above at max settings you will still need something considerably more powerful than their recommended specs.
And 30 gigs of hard drive space? WTF? |

| I liked Prey 1 as well and am glad it's getting sequel. They really used the gravity mechanic wonderfully and I hope that returns. The first game was way too short though, so let's hope this one is quite a bit longer. |

Those of you mentioning Oblivion and Planescape/Fallout in the same posts, I hope you die. I think you are going to kill yourself when Fallout 3 comes out Oblivion wasn't as bad as some old-schoolers have made it out to be, the quests for some of the guilds were well-done and when the world exploration was working properly it was a fun game (although the scaling difficulty ruined most of it).
Both of exploration and a well told story are the Holy Grail of a good CRPG. Ultima VII was the last one that I can remember that pulled that off really well. Given the choice though, I'd rather have a well told story. Seriously, Baldur's Gate 2. |

BTW- Is the exploration moer along the lines of Oblivion, where you can go anywhere anytime (as long as you can find it), or are the locales "locked out" until quests/storylines reveal them? The later. It's about as unlike Oblivion's model as you can get. |

For fans of the genre however, this is simply the best CRPG released since Ultima VII .... which was released 15 years ago. Uh, no. The Witcher is good, probably better than Oblivion for hardcore CRPG fans who like good stories, but not even in the same league as Torment, Baldur's Gate 1/2, Morrowind, Fallout 1/2, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Gothic 1/2, KotoR, or Vampire: Bloodlines. |

I really liked The Witcher, it had it's flaws on release, but with all these changes (honestly the most important change, reduced load times, is already out in the patches) it will be a really outstanding game.
The censorship in the U.S. version is minimal, all they did was replace some of the sex cards (note, not the sex scenes, just the cards that you get recording your conquests) that had full-frontal nudity with ones that only have topless women/vampires/dryads/etc on them.
The combat system is as deep (or as shallow) as Oblivion's, the writing is much better, the graphics are nearly as good, the non-linearity of the story is actually better (fewer side quests but you can actually change the main plot very significantly), the game-world feels much more "real" than most fantasy, and the characters are miles more interesting than Oblivion's.
I would have preferred an expansion pack or a sequel over this enhanced edition (I'm not going to play through the game again, its fucking long!) but for those people who liked PS:T or BG you should try this one. |

It's hard to believe that Xenocide and Children of the Mind were written by the same author. TERRIBLE books. He's written a lot of bad books. Especially lately. Card is a very talented writer but he also puts out a lot of crap to pay the bills.
And yes, making a video game out of Ender's Game is just plain wierd. |

| Does anyone really think that Activision wants to kill the greatest golden goose in the history of computer gaming? Vivendi let Blizzard do it's own thing and made untold millions from it, I wouldn't expect Activision to screw with Blizzard either. Everyone in the industry knows that Blizzard needs to do its own thing, it's not like they are going to be bullied into releasing early or making products they aren't interested in. Conversely, no one expected Blizzard to do anything radical while they are pumping out SC2 and WoW expansions. |

Re: How do you grab people by the throat |

You just have to walk up close to the enemy and press "f" It doesn't matter what kind of power you have activated on your suit. You can even be cloaked and walk up to the guy while cloaked, and grab the fucker by the throat then switch to strength and throw him across the map lol If you don't have strength activated, you just knock the enemy out and the little throw that you do can't be used to take out other enemies.
If strength is active, not only will your throw kill the enemy, but it will also kill any enemies that you hit with the body. A very effective tactic is to stealth into melee range of one bad guy, pick him up (destealthing you), switch to strength, then throw him into his buddies. You can complete the entire demo level doing this over and over.
Honestly the stealth power is extremely imbalanced, I can only assume that later enemies will have the ability to see through it because otherwise the game is going to be very easy (even on elite difficulty).
And for those people complaining the game is too much like Farcry, why is that a bad thing? Farcry was wonderful until those stupid mutants ruined it. |

XP Athlon 64 X2 5200 (@2.86 Ghz) 2 gig ram 7900GT 256 Meg
The game ran at 1200 x 960 with medium details with the frame rate jumping all over the place (from 50 FPS with nothing going on down to 15 FPS during heavy fire-fights or cinemas). Any scenes with significant post-processing seem to slow things down considerably. It looks VERY good considering how slow my video card is compared to say an 8800 GTS.
The suit is really fun to play with, I liked combining stealth to get close (you can stay stealthed a lot longer when moving slowly btw) and then switching to strength, running up to a bad guy and throwing him into his buddies
One thing that bugged me was that, like Far Cry, enemies can take a riducluous number of assault rifle shots to the chest. There is no point firing unless you're gonna get a headshot.
The story elements seem well done so far, although I don't like how you lose control of your character during cinemas (haven't we all learned from Half-Life yet?) |

Bionic Commando on the NES was one of my favorites. Needed an emulator to actually beat the damn thing but I think it's great that it's getting a remake (although this looks more like a sequel or a spin-off).
I just hope the developers are going for something that feels true to the first game rather than just using the beloved title to sell some crap (I'm looking at you Fallout 3 team...) |

Just finished Portal, was a fun little romp, but I would have preferred the tutorial levels been about 1/2 as much of the game and the reliance on walls you can't portal on for puzzles was annoying too(Narbuncular Drop was better at that).
Episode 2 better be at least three times as long as Portal though or there will be a lot of unhappy people!

IS THIS WORTH DOWNLOADING? Yes. It's very short and console-oriented, but it's also quite pretty and has some decent action.
Didn't convince me to buy the full version though. |

just tried this out, game was pretty fun. One weird thing, all my cutscenes were black and white. They seemed to be channeling the cut-scene style of Homeworld (which I liked).
It actually seemed like a good space shooter (though not quite a space-sim), but the translated dialog is impenetrable and read too quickly. It also looked like it might lack depth and get boring after a few missions. |
