"We put a lot of effort into the physics and graphic effects of ‘Age 3’, but that was not done at the expense of game play and game play innovation. We believe strongly that games must be different at both the high level (new topic, new look) and game play level (innovation). You can’t successfully sell the same game twice. People want new experiences."
It's precisely because the Age of games offer nearly the same gameplay every damn incarnation that causes me to run screaming from every one of them.
And by the way, Bruce, the PC industry right now is making its living off consumers playing the same game twice, three, four times. Don't look your gift horse in the mouth.

There was no sequel for Sacrifice because the sales figures were really, really poor for some reason. In fact, it suffered a fate similar to Tribes Vengeance, where further patch support came to a screeching halt with relatively no notice.
I never understood it, really - it wasn't perfect, but it was definitely one of the top five games in the last 10 years for me.

Making the UAV visible to me was a big mistake, but we'll see how it plays out. What makes no sense whatsoever is that the thing is destructible. Can you confirm or deny whether it's possible to shoot UAV's down now?

It's sort of a bummer this extensive patch is coming out so late in the product life. I've got a solid 300 hours of gameplay in between the original game and Special Forces and now that I think I've finally gotten my fill of the game and am mostly done with it, here comes this monster patch fixing tons of stuff that drove me nuts while I was still actively playing. Disappointing, but oh well.

Is this actually working? I go there and it appears like download.com wants you to register to d/l it.
Edit: No, this isn't working. It just tells you "Thank you for downloading!" but doesn't actually begin the download. The hell's up with that?

I was actually surprised to see this announced, figuring the next Relic Warhammer effort would be a next-gen title. Seems like this would have been a great time to get the Company of Heroes engine powered up for a Warhammer project so they COULD do the Tyranids justice, but I guess it's not to be.

I'd take a tight-playing, truly strategic RTS with 10 year-old graphics in the TA vein over Rise of/Age of anything, no contest.

this is really, really impressive to me. I hope Ubisoft really thinks hard on this.

What the fuck? Shoot the UAV's down? What the hell's the sense in that? That's unbelievable. If that ends up coming to pass, I've definitely played my last BF2.

sub·jec·tiv·i·ty [sùb jek tívvətee] noun 1. personal interpretation: interpretation based on personal opinions or feelings rather than on external facts or evidence
All this pissed-off vitriol over SUBJECTIVITY is pretty fuckin' ridiculous.
Personal opinion:
I thought Tribes Vengeance was actually quite the game. I never got the opportunity to play large-scale multiplayer, but horsing around with it with a friend online was pretty fun. I also enjoyed the hell out of the single player, playing all the way through. It wasn't the best thing since sliced bread, but it didn't deserve the fall it took.
The original Freedom Force is still in my top 3 of the most enjoyable games I've played in the last 5 years. Don't think I need to say much more there.
Purely subjective, I thought Irrational was one of the few consistently high-quality indie development houses remaining, and I'm disappointed they've been sold.
