The game's single-player campaign also didn't quite pan out to expectations, said Morris. As with character customization, Epic felt its campaign was coarse in comparison, with Morris saying, "It was good, but it wasn't BioShock."
where they aiming for a bioshock like experience when they started developing that crap single player campaign?

I sat in on a small private demo at last year's GDC. It was very impressive. I don't see it replacing standard controllers anytime soon, but it could definitely enhance our gaming experience.

surely you would have more to say about this Quaternion. how did it feel like?

3. The 15 Most Annoying Video Game Char... Feb 20, 2008, 04:17 rocketpcguy

Baby Mario from Yoshi's Island
Why he annoyed us:
Did you know that human beings are biologically programmed to find a baby's crying unpleasant? If you answered 'yes', congratulations, you're smarter than Nintendo.

Every time Baby Mario is separated from Yoshi, he bawls his lungs out, releasing one of the most ear-piercing sound effects in video game history. While the relentless crying does prompt the player to urgently recover Baby Mario, it comes at a great price: their sanity.

which makes eating baby mario more satisfying:

1. So where's the open source project? Open source hacks generally don't have the talent to pull of this kind of project.
http://www.tokamakphysics.com/intro.htm
http://www.ode.org/
(example of ODE: http://www.youtube.com/v/QSgR0s7zqFo )
sure, not nearly as great as PhysX, but the above projects do not have access to a dedicated physics card.

3d aside, theyve even made an open source flash physics engine, check out the beta demo here:

What a terrible comparison. Far Cry came out for the PC in 2004. Far Cry Instincts came out for the 360 in 2006.

yes, i know. i just wanted to highlight the quality of the rendering of an xbox 360 by itself. as a comparison, its stupid, but i couldn't find a high quality video of the xbox game easily.

So, if you want to upgrade to a mid level system, you can buy a Core 2 Duo Processor, ECS motherboard that supports it, and 2 gigs of memory, all for $300.

do you really think an average person on the street will bother to build his own system from parts? if you can show me a gaming PC system with xbox 360 quality graphics, without a monitor, for $350 dollars, then i'll change my opinion.
look at the quality of rendering of an xbox:
http://xboxmovies.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/2898/Far-Cry-Instincts-PREDATOR-Xbox-360-vs-PC-Water-Comparison/
and bioshock for the pc (dx9 at high)and xbox 360 look just the same.

16. gfx card prices Feb 13, 2008, 01:10 rocketpcguy

if they just made a 8800GT class graphics card $100, PC gaming would get saved.

the issue is, who, other than hardcore gamers in this forum, would want to spend $1000 on a PC when you can spend less than half of that to get a decent console? once all console games support keyboards and mice that connect to the USB ports on those consoles, there will be little hope left for the PC.

So what did people do? They did what he said, they made characters with names like LIILILILILILI, so you fought 50 people with almost an identical name, making it impossible to target anyone to focus fire.
won't it be better if they called themselves LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL?

The game looks great, especially on higher resolutions where everything shines just like in the races on TV. You can watch the pre-race preparations; quality texturing is used for the pilots and scenery

how did they improve the performance and compatibility without access to the source code?
if they reverse engineered it, why don't they share their findings with nvidia, who maybe even can hire them to make their drivers faster?

because they are launched at the same time, it means that the pc version is a port of the nintendo DS version.

Or if you know, if you were looking at the game using a PC monitor instead of through a DIGITAL CAMERA. What kind of two-bit gaming website takes screenshots that way?

agreed.

from the article:
Nancy Ascher persuaded an employee to search the Radisson's guest records by first name and country of residence ... Nancy Ascher charmed the hotel employee into sharing the guest's e-mail address.

one way of getting e-mail addresses for spam, sleeping with hotel employees.

seriously, isn't Radisson's image damaged because of this article?

now that i think of it, if having a blurry eyesight makes AA unnecessary, then why bother getting glasses plus an expensive gfx card? or just take them off before you game.

i think the benchmarks showed that the 8600GT is only slightly faster than the 7600GT.
