I just might have to try this out. It's been a long time since anything scratched that OFP itch. BF2 is fun in it's own right, but it's hardly even the same genre as it's so arcadey.
And apparently even the Rainbow 6 series has gone arcade from what I hear about Lockdown.

Only buy EA games used |

Unfortunately, EA still sells games that people want to play, so they will continue to make sales. Boycotting is great, but many don't have the will power. The next best solution:
ONLY BUY EA GAMES USED.
They don't see a dime.

What kind of dolt buys an Intel-based Apple to run XP? Why don't you just buy a friggin PC and put an Apple sticker on it?
Idiots.

Thats why it's an XBox 360 game only Actually, I think they announced some time ago that it will most likely follow on PC. Although the PC date has not been announced.

And what about CD keys required for online play? How do you know the previous owner still isn't using it? A legitimate concern. My only answer would be that very few people would actually go to the trouble to apply a No-CD hack just so they could keep playing it after they sold it. Using the key on multiple machines has never been a problem (in my experience) - only using the same key SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Edit: And you can easily get used AAA games within a week of release. There's always someone out there who had to get it on day one and hated it, or played the whole way through in a marathon session and won't pick it up again.

Stop buying EA products already |

They obviously don't care about their products or customers. Remember: the ONLY way you can change this is by voting with your consumer dollars. Don't like their lack of support? Don't buy their products. Simple.
If you're torn b/c you really like some of their games, then ONLY BUY THEM USED. The company won't see a dime from the sale.
Shame on you EA. Millions of copies of that game sold, and you have the audacity to claim "We're just so very poor... we don't have any money for support. Woe is us."
Shame, shame, shame.

That's just laugh-out-loud funny. Who would want to buy a PC port of a game that wasn't even innovative when it first shipped years ago? And now we have to upgrade our OS to boot? Um... no.
Seriously, I know the Halo franchise may be great on the consoles, but it really is lacking in all departments (graphics, single, multi, level design, physics, AI, etc.) when compared to just about any AAA PC game (HL2, D3, F.E.A.R.).
Honestly - why would anyone bother?

HoSpanky: Unreal 2004 also supports widescreen. As a widescreen owner, it's absolutely maddening that 99.9% of games don't bother to support it. and with more and more widescreen LCD's (and gaming laptops) shipping every day...
Why don't more devs wake up?
And what's even worse is that if they would all just query the video card drivers for supported resolutions, none of this would be a problem.

People seem to have some really whacky ideas about what's Constitutional and what isn't. There is nothing unconstituional about telling kids that they can't buy adult videos or games. If you think different, then go ahead and try selling porno to kids. When you get arrested, tell them it's your "Constitutional right."
They aren't saying that he games can't be made, only that they cannot be sold to minors. And that is most certainly NOT censorship.
The only way they could run into problems is if it is overly vague about which games fall under the law and which do not, which it may well be. Why aren't they smart enough to simply say "Rated M and above per the ESRB?"

Wish we had a more exciting race than IG, but looking forward to it just the same. Also too bad I think it'll break most mods (I know 1.4 does).
And Relic: How about some native widescreen resolutions, huh? The 90's are over. In fact, send that out to ALL devs.
Anyone know what the new SM units are? I think I saw a Chaplain in some screenshots...

Wow. That engine is damn near unstoppable! And good for them - I think they deserve it.
I've played no less than 5 games on UE2 that I really enjoyed, and I'm looking at at least 3 more that I'd like to try. And that doesn't even count the scores of great mods.
Tom: Don't waste your breath.
MOO: Of course you're entitled to you opinion. Good luck with that. The rest of us will be having plenty of fun without you. Don't let the door hitcha.

Although I'm not an RTS guy, I absolutely fell in love with this game, and MUST have the expansion. With that said, I too am really disappointed that they didn't decide to include a new race. IG are like new units of the same old human army and, as someone else said, you already got to play them somewhat in the first version (and they weren't too exciting). With Tyranids, Necrons, and Tau obviously missing, I just can't understand why they chose new units of an old race. *shrugs*
But I'll buy it anyways. And if you're really interested, there are mods in development for all of the aforementioned races, some of which are looking like they're shaping up quite nicely. And more human units like Daemonhunters (Grey Knights), Witch Hunters/SoB, Rhino variants, Iron Legion (different slant on IG), and more. There's also a Thousand Suns mod for Chaos that looks like retail quality IIRC. I really should get off my arse and try some of them out.
And best intro movie I've seen in a long time. I hope these guys are returning for the expansion.
