It's 10PM on a worknight, and now I'm throwing my Aliens BRD into the player. "Maybe it's like an ant hive..." "Bees man, bees have hives." "You know what I mean. It's like one female that runs the whole show." "Yes, the queen." "Yeah the mamma. She is bad*ss, man. I mean big." "These things ain't ants estupido." "I know that." --Aliens movie Ok we've got 7 canisters of CN-20, I say we roll them in there and nerve-gas the whole fucking nest. Ugh, now I want to rewatch the movie and play a good ALIENS game. I have a ton of female gamers who visit my store. I'm in a small town. I'm going to leave you to draw your own conclusions, though they'll likely be hilariously ignorant as well. Which town and store? |

Jerykk wrote on Sep 3, 2012, 20:21: An Alien RPG would be great if they took a System Shock-like approach to it. Instead of playing as a generic Space Marine, you'd play as a regular colonist. Your skills would be comprised of things that would be useful to colonists, such as engineering, science, medicine, security, etc. The objective would be to survive the xenomorph infestation until rescue ships arrive. How you survive would be up to you. You could try and work with other survivors or you could be a lone wolf. You'd have to manage things like food, water, medicine and even oxygen, forcing you to make tough choices when dealing with other survivors. A crafting system would help you build tools and improvised weapons and traps from miscellaneous things you've gathered in the colony.
That's the Aliens game that I want to play. Xenomorphs as an enemy are stale. You already know everything about them. Therefore, making a game that revolves around shooting them will also be boring. However, if you change the focus of the game and the tools the player has at his disposal, you can do something interesting with the IP. For example, players already know how xenomorphs are made. A good designer could use this knowledge to make an interesting moral choice for the player. Like what you'd do if a survivor got facehuggered. Knowing what happens next, you could try and convince the other survivors that the victim needs to be killed but then you'll piss off anyone that is close to the victim, such as his/her spouse, friend or family members. In turn, your relationships with other survivors would have long-term consequences. If you kill the facehugger victim, her husband might decide to lock you in a room with a facehugger later in the game. Yeah, that would work. Wasn't there a RPG version that was in development? I think it got axed. |

Julio wrote on Sep 3, 2012, 18:27: It was good for the first 25 levels, then it lost what was fun. Kind of like Diablo 3 come to think of it. I really wanted to like it, but it was really unfinished when I played it on release. Yup. The starter area was brilliant, very polished. Then it fell apart. Clearly released way ahead of time. With F2P as a newbie, is it good enough to see the first 25 levels? |

Ditto especially if they are attractive. |

Sigh... will never be made.. eh I want something like Natural Selection mod. Hmm, would a MMORPG work? |

I still haven't opened and installed AoC game. I almost played its beta, but never had the time. I guess I should not bother if I ever get a chance. |

D-Rock wrote on Sep 2, 2012, 13:40: Wow. I was thrilled to see this news and upon reading further it turns out to be an even bigger disappointment than the long development time. Taking the time to finish it won't bother me at all -- it's been so long already that I wouldn't even notice. 'Releasing' it unfinished is an insult to us fans that have been waiting patiently. So, don't play it when it comes out. Wait for it to be finally finished. That's what I am doing. I don't want to replay for the previous unfinished parts. And we know it will have bugs on first release. |

TFD has all the best games on it, and it's only $20. I would NOT pay $30 for Red Alert 3 + C&C 3 (and I won't even mention that other terrible piece of shit they tacked on). I hope you're referring to C&C4, because Generals: Zero Hour is the best C&C game yet. 0 Hour was rad and was more than an expansion IMO. I still have it too. C&C4 was awful. RA3 was meh too.
I wonder if the old C&C and RA games will be updated with this release like its multiplayer. I doubt it like The First Decade set. |

It would be nice if NBA Live could at least be marginally competitive so 2K fixes some of the persistent bugs that are there every year in their product. Too bad NBA 2K series suck on PC/Windows like its multiplayer. |

Thanks.
Have you tried the Sleeping Dogs demo yet?
Oh wait, you can't...
I don't play games anymore. I still have yet to finish C&C3:KW, Crysis 1, World in Conflict, etc. Also, a bunch of old demos. I don't even have time for quick random Flash games these days. As you can see, I am out of gaming. |
