I cannot get the worms and maps to show up (http://i.imgur.com/1vfN1Qc.jpg as an example). I think it is my video driver (can't use the latest either). Bummer. I loved old 2D Worms games. |

High tomorrow is supposed to be 47 (no, that isn't a typo). The lawn will soon be in the "really needs to be cut" stage... Blue owns a house now? |

| E.T. game reminded me of Atari 2600's Indiana Jones game. I watched AVGN's video of it. Sheesh! So complicated. |

There are even rumors that MS isn't working on a DX upgrade at this point, so there's not even that. I am still happy with XP Pro. SP3 until April 2014. |

Beamer wrote on Apr 15, 2013, 09:30: Yup. 50% darker. No it's not. The projector brightness is increased to compensate for the loss of light. Unless you're going to some crappy theater that was already running dim.
And, regardless of who you are, after about 10-15 minutes you stop realizing things are in 3D Yes, if done right. That's called immersion, and I consider it a good thing. It means the 3D isn't being used as a gimmick, but to enhance the experience.
3D movies have been around for 70 years. They predate color movies. They aren't going anywhere. When I saw Avatar in Arclight Dome in 3D, the glasses made the movie darker.
There's something they have to change on the projector (I read about a year or two ago, want to say it was the bulb, but I'm not positive), going from 2d/3d. If they forget to do that (and you're dealing with a bunch of 16 y/os that are doing good to get the image lined up with the screen), you get a dark image.
IIRC, that Dome theater was only showing Avatar 3D movie for a few weeks. Nothing else. See http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1267333972533 for the behind the scenes. Is this the same projector you're thinking of? |

Cyanotetyphas wrote on Apr 15, 2013, 00:55: I remember that Terminator ride haha. When the T-10^5 sticks its blade out towards the audience it was amazing.
Some movies looks good in 3D. Life of Pi looked great, but it was bright and colorful and filled with scenic vistas.
Mostly though, like others here, I just forget its in 3D after awhile and stop noticing it. Maybe when they combine high frame rate and 3-d we'll get something special. The tech can always improve. I never got to see that Terminator ride, and I love Terminator series. I did see recorded cammed videos. It looked neat. I doubt I would be able to see 3D effects. |

eRe4s3r wrote on Apr 14, 2013, 19:26: I fully agree, the current "3D" is nothing but a scam, dark as fuck picture, blurry backgrounds and god damn annoying motion blur everywhere.
I watched exactly 2 movies in 3D, and 1 was Avatar (where the WOW affect was the only thing good about 3D) and I rewatched avatar in 2D in a proper cinema and was blown away, bright, colorful, and sharp as hell.
2D is still vastly superior to 3D imo, and now that the gimmick effect has worn off it's going down down...... Digital 2D too. 2D film is meh, BUT still better than 3D. |

I can't see 3D effects with my old compound eyes even with Avatar movie in Arclight Dome, CA Adventure's 3D rides, etc.
