Never played it... I just enjoy poking fun at it, since there were so many poor design choices.

I totally agree with the first, and mostly agree with the second. As long as they don't throw stealth out the window...

Well... it wouldn't be "Teef" at all, if there were no stealth options.
So, I'm not to worried about that.

I think they did a great job with Deus Ex:HR, and I really didn't give a shit about the boss fights... to me, it was more about the journey.

Same goes for Thief... if they make it a great journey... I won't care if there are more "action-type" options compared to the original series.

Obviously I won't pre-order... nor will it be a day 1 purchase... but if the buzz about it is good after release... I'd be likely to pick it up within the first couple of weeks.

All I want is a shoulder-cam to ass-cam mod... and there still isn't one for Dead Space 1.

To be fair, the whole A:CM may have not been their fault. It sounds like they got a worthless shamble of assets and an impossible deadline.

They had like 2 years out of the 6, didn't they? I don't think that was an impossible deadline. The last 8 months or so was allegedly Gearbox trying to clean up the mess.

Either way... I do agree that Gearbox is just as much to blame, if not more, considering that they chose who to outsource the project to in the first place, and wasn't paying attention.

saying this was because a publishing deal fell through.

Gee, ya think?

After the Colonial Marines mess, who would hire this studio?
(Not that Gearbox doesn't significantly share the blame)

You mean Adam West?

No no... he means that James Bond cowboy that runs around with Artemus Gordon.

Well... it's nice they actually made some effort for the PC... but since I was disappointed in Bioshock 1... I'll wait for the post launch reviews and opinions.

28. Re: Lord British's Countdown Mar 3, 2013, 15:07 wtf_man

Well.. that was sort of my point... as an indie (and possibly a kickstarter) he could really make a game that would fit his Ultima Style without publisher interference.

Then again... as log as Tabula Rasa took to develop, and as big of flop as it was... I have to question whether Garriot has "lost it" or whether NCSoft really interfered that much over time. Given GW2and the freedom ArenaNet was given, I find it hard to believe NCSoft was at fault for Tabula Rasa.

So, we'll see.
I hope he isn't washed up... but I won't be surprised if he is. Not many old-school game devs have transitioned very well into post millennium gaming. Even original FPS devs like iD struggle.

Personally, I think he's washed up after Ultima IX and Tabula Rasa... but maybe he can do something better as an indie... we'll just have to see.

lol, so much hate?

You bitches are moaning about the graphics? Is it a triple A title from a Triple A developer? pull your head out.

I'll just say this... I can't stand the cel-shading style, which is why I never bought Borderlands games... and if the dark outline can't be turned off, I won't even bother looking at it.

Aliens: Colonial Marines on Zero Punctuation.

Yahtzee does his usual banter... but for some reason I was kind of expecting it to be a bit more over the top than usual. It is still entertaining, though.

Well, they created it from their failed Warhammer game... why would they think a smaller chunk of a failed game would be successful, even as free to play?

I guess their logic was: "Smaller Fail = Passable" ?

Well... of that list... I never install the 3D Vision drivers, so I wonder if that is how I avoided issues. That, and since my gaming rig is 100% for gaming... and doesn't go on the internet other than for game purchases from Steam or GOG, and MS / Steam patching... there's no other garbage software running in the background, including AV / Security software.

One more reason to keep away from P.O.S. Orgin.
I have to say even for a habitual gamer like me it's good going so far. So many alternatives, indie and kickstarters , good riddance EA I'm not going to miss you.

Pretty much this.

I haven't bought an EA game since Origin became a requirement.

6. Re: PC Lead Platform for Watch_Dogs Feb 27, 2013, 09:33 wtf_man

Well... I don't know about PC being the lead platform... but I have to imagine both next gen consoles being x86, dx11-era video, and a good chunk of RAM, has to help the "porting to another platform" situation quite a lot.

Developers generally not supporting the mouse and keyboard may still be an issue, though.
