That said, Blue asked and I did and have now done the few sites I frequent a lot, I've unblocked them. I get it and if I use it a lot, ok. Now if you break my trust with ridiculous stuff, then I'll just re-block.

I'd rather donate and keep my ad blocker on. Unfortunately, Blue's site ads are annoying animated things (I do see them when I come here with other PC's that I don't own).

As long as I have been coming here... I wouldn't mind throwing some cash his way if he had a paypal donation link... and I definitely would do that.

The tracking pisses me off more than the non-intrusive ads. Even with Incognito, Do not track enabled in the browser, and Ghostery running...they still track you.

So, I don't allow non-intrusive ads either, because of that... and I want to make it as tough as possible for these assholes to track me. Ad networks are just as bad as the NSA.

Fuck them.

Or you could, you know, uncheck the box that says "allow non-intrusive ads". I dunno if they still do this, but AdBlock Plus went out of its way to point this out on initial setup last couple times I installed it.

Yeah, I've been doing that by default every time I install ABP, since they added that "feature".

At minimum it's GTA with hacking. It sounds more like GTA crossed with Far Cry 3 with hacking though.

Either way... setting expectations for what I listed above should be reasonable. Anything else that's cool, will be just icing on the cake.

And Sony's 4K player is loaded with DRM including online activation for playing movies. No thanks.

That, and I ain't buying a new TV and my whole movie and TV collection yet again. 1080p is good enough. For the average consumer, this will probably fail as much as the recent 3D rage has.

They haven't run out of money!!! They could still choose to scale it back. They believe in their game so much that they are putting all their other profits into the game. How is that an issue to you?

They still have to RAISE money, which is why they are trying to sell 1/2 of it early to non-backers. Why would a Non-Backer buy half a game that they weren't all that interested in, in the first place? This plan will fail.

So, lets say they didn't have any other projects profits to dump into this? What then? It comes right back to the original point that they shouldn't have built this big of a game with the budget they got.

Some restraint and accountability would go a long way in providing trust for future projects. It's called fiscal responsibility. One doesn't spend money that they don't have.

I'm 31 minutes into the latest episode... they just started discussing the scope problem.

I'm not happy about the delay either... but it all meshes with Tim designing way too much game for the budget he got. And really... I didn't sign up for what I'd consider to be a AAA scoped adventure game. Like I said... I can understand them wanting to enhance it since they got 3M vs. 400K... but it's like Tim was in a candy store and went totally overboard. So, yeah... I'm very disappointed in him. I think they would have done better with something more reasonably scoped, in order to get a better name for themselves, and more of their other projects sold. They blew it, for the most part, IMO.

You were mistaken then. The game was significantly ramped up during the very successful Kickstarter and this was communicated in the updates. You should've got out then if you were only interested in a short Adventure game.

IMO, "ramped-up" != Running out of money and not even having half a game, yet.

They got over 8x more than what they asked for. That doesn't mean make 16x more game.

I'm more pissed about them running out of money than another delay. Sorry, to me that is majorly irresponsible.

They haven't been hiding their intentions here but you go on and pick that nit. There are several other examples. Face it, the Xbox One is being built as an advertising platform as much as it is for any other function. It's literally built into every major feature front in the system.

That video is disgusting. And who on early would want "friends" who spam you with ads? It's like marketings wet dream, but has no basis in reality. There's no way in hell I'd pass along an ad to my friends, as I value them a million times more than some stupid assed advertising. And I know they wouldn't appreciate it (hell, I wouldn't), so I would never do it.

That video made me want to throw up. Puke

I asked this in the other thread... Is there anyone upset about how Broken Age is going that actually backed the project?

Yep.

I'm one.

I didn't catch your post in the other thread. I think I sufficiently explained why I'm upset in the other thread, so there is no need to re-hash it.

And yes... if I could get a refund, I would take it.

Hmm, they're out of the infamous second son bundle, it seems. I'd rather buy Watch Dogs on the PC.

Choices choices... Anyways, thanks nin.

Creston

I got the Watch Dogs Bundle... and I still plan on getting for the PC.
Might do some multiplayer with the person in the living room, while I'm on the PC... and they will get utterly PWND!

Besides... I figure it's a good game to learn how to use a controller on.... since I haven't gamed on a console (more than a couple of minutes) since the first Nintendo.

Their Fart Cloud that datamines you even more.

They're not just selling ads... they're selling your info... and you are paying them to do it.

Seriously, anybody that buys one of these things is an utter fucking retard.
The NSA would cum in their pants if this thing was in every household.

As far as I know, Kickstarter doesn't let you set a release date based on the amount of money you receive, or set any sort of flexible release date. That is more of a problem with Kickstarter than this project.

I'm not talking about a firm release date. I'm talking about what was "pitched" in order to get you to back the project.

It was pitched as an old school point and click adventure that would only need 400k because it wasn't going to be AAA. Therefore October of 2012 was a fair estimate. They got extra money and wanted to enhance it... fine... Spring 2013 was a fair estimate. (THEY set these estimates, not me). Now we learn that they designed it so overblown (Like a AAA title) that they ran out of money.

NOBODY asked for a AAA title, nor expected one. (Let alone a AAA schedule and budget). This is NOT what was pitched.

Having no plan doesn't excuse the scopecreep.

If they put out a nice little adventure game like they originally intended.... and had it out within a reasonable amount of time within their estimates.. I'd be backing almost any Double Fine project. Now, I won;'t back any more. The trust was broken, IMO.

Even though I like Tim, and I'm sure that the game will have his famous humor... I find this extremely disappointing, and probably won't ever back a Double Fine project again.

The original game was supposed to be out fall of last year, then got delayed to spring of this year. That was the scope that was pitched. Designing something so huge, running out of money, and delivering half a game 6 months from now is completely and utterly irresponsible.

Oh well. Lesson learned.

I could be wrong, it's not official. It certainly is seems more official than this "buy a 360" slughead.

I was only saying that EA was looking at him as a possibility... not that they were trying to hire him for sure.

Perhaps just as interesting was the revelation that “interestingly, Mattrick has also been on the short list of the top execs being considered to run Electronic Arts.” EA has been without a permanent CEO since John Riccitiello stepped down, leaving longtime Xbox, Sega and industry executive (and current EA Chief Operating Officer) Peter Moore temporarily in charge.

Goes from one sinking ship to another. About as stupid ass a move as I can think of. Of course he is not that bright to start with and Zynga people are not much better.

He didn't have much choice in the matter, he was on the chopping block anyway.

Well according some articles... he was in negotiation for this move before Ballmer's "restructure", and Zynga favors him for a track record of turning companies around. Also, I guess even EA was considering him.

I tend to hope things were accelerated since his "get a 360" comment.

Xbox One exec: Hardware specs are "meaningless."

Uh... no... they aren't. (Of course it takes PC gamers to see through this bullshit)

Anyone that knows squat about graphics cards knows that the more memory bandwidth the better. If you take a budget video card with DDR3 vs. the exact same gpu and clocks with GDDR5.... the latter video card is about twice as fast.

For the just the GPU... 68 GB/s vs. 176 GB/s (+30% more gpu cores) is a fucking spanking.

Graphics performance, alone, for the PS4 should be about 2.5x over the Xbox one.

Then... lets get into the fact XBox one is running 3 OS's and sucking up 3GB of RAM for those OS's... on just as weak AMD APU-CPU's as the PS4.

Oh... but there's the cloud that gives you 4 Xbones in one!!!
...Not if I fucking play offline 90% of the time.

Bottom line... PS4 has way more potential for better visuals... unfortunately we'll probably only see them in the exclusives, since the multi-platform titles will go for the lowest common denominator.
