| I saw a couple of small bugs, but nothing disasterous. I have heard of people hitting some big issues, but in general the game has been a lot more solid than... say, Fallout 3. |

| I picked 1946 up from GoG instead of Steam. I guess you win some, and you lose some. But, it's nice having certain games seperate from Steam. |

That is truly fucking horrible. If the CryEngine 3 really looks like that, I'd quietly shove that fact under the carpet if I was Crytek. Sheesh man, grow up. |

The common term would be 'photoshopped'. Someone has stuffed with the brightness and contrast levels waaay too much, obviously to try and make it look more dramatic, or something. Or, it's because someone took a photo from off a plasma TV, or something similar.
That's more likely the explanation of why things like basic transparency look off. |

Not necessarily, CommunistHamster. There could be some large optimisations/effects added for the PC version. It's hard to know, but there's obviously been development of the engine's scalability, so they may as well tack on a number to the end of what they already have.

| It looks like someone went a little post edit crazy with Exibit A there, and then jpeg'd it to hell. What's it supposed to be running on? |

I liked the first one but disliked the second one where most people seemed to have liked both. shrugs. Yep, same. The first was a great game with a truly well-crafted story. Max Payne 2 lacked a lot of the subtleties the first game had. It was like someone decided the game had to have more angst, and more pain, and more sadness. And, pain and angst and sadness = swearing, so they added that in too. Now with Rockstar behind the third, I'm certainly not going to hang out to play it. I have no doubt Rockstar will completely miss what made the first game good. |

| No, I mean it the other way around. I didn't like Pitch Black, but loved the sequel. A lot of the reason why was because of how I first saw the movie. I watched on my computer, in Power DVD, with Vivid colour mode on. It really made a huge difference to the atmosphere of the movie. |

| Flatline, quit whining. It's an imperfect game, but it's a fun one. If you missed somewhere that games can be repetitive and not perfectly representative of the real world, and yet somehow still be enjoyable, that's something to give yourself a slap for. |

ERe4s3r, you sound like a rendering n00b. You're referring to an AO shader and calling that 'proper'. I can't even begin to describe how out of whack that is.
I agree though that yes, this is a paper tiger. Time will tell what it is, and how well it works. All I hope is that people would stop throwing around terms like photorealistic. Even with a current production renderer achieving photorealism (which isn't that real, when you think about it) is something only the best in the business can do. |

In Australia, it really does depend on the time of day. If you get the right time there are people everywhere. If you don't... well, there are lots of bots playing |
