...indies will take the reigns of the PC, they just needed the right tools.

I'm an indie developer who works with this level of tech (or close to). I can tell you it's not quite that simple. What tools are available to an indie is only part of the development puzzle.

It's not cast in stone yet, but at this point no, I don't think I'll buy the game.

Nice one.

Thanks elaborator. No pausing then? What do you do if the phone rings, or your house catches on fire, and you miss something? Can you re-watch things?

A quick question for anyone who knows- can you pause the cutscenes in the game? Or, do you need to sit through everything?

There is an editor review and some unusually fanboy-ish glowing reviews on the game here:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dragonage/index.html

I'm sure it's a decent game, but... goodness I have a hard time taking that review seriously.

I don't think you're catching what I mean by unfinished (your term actually, I said parts missing). Don't worry, it hardly matters.

22. Re: Mass Effect 2 DLC Plans Nov 3, 2009, 10:13 Reactor

When was that? I remember having the Diablo 2 patch in hand before I had the game in hand and I got it release day.

Some of us remember gaming before Diablo 2. Besides that, a patch to fix bugs is one thing. Part of the game missing, yet purchasable later is another.

Ahhhhh, what a wonderful time we live in.

Indeed. I remember a time long ago, when you could buy a finished game all at the same time! Those were the days.

Just Cause is what you play when you don't feel like taking anything seriously. Graphics = initially ugly. Game = fun.

News Comments > PC Gamer UK: Dragon Age "RPG of the Decade"
57. Re: PC Gamer: Dragon Age Oct 27, 2009, 11:04 Reactor

It'll feel like a Bioware game. I don't really know what to call it, but Bioware games all just have this reek of similarity.

I don't know either, but just once, I'd like to see an rpg where the main character takes hits from three brown bears at the same time, and flinches just a little bit.

but i wish these supposed "writers" would take some time to make a case for that kind of thing instead of vomiting up something that would get a "D-" in elementary school english class

Yup.

22. Re: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed PC Specs Oct 23, 2009, 03:16 Reactor

What the heck are these developers doing to need a 24gig install? Are there thousands of 4k textures extracting to 64bit tiffs, or a Blueray movie included in all of that?

Crazy.

6. Re: On Sale Oct 23, 2009, 00:17 Reactor

Guerrilla's pricing in Australia is a repeat of COD4. It $99 AUD, and so with 50% off it comes to the same price as I could buy it in store.

Dumb.

18. Re: First Borderlands DLC Announced Oct 16, 2009, 00:19 Reactor

This is an awesome precedent. Creating some DLC is a lot easier than making full game, so I'm going to release some DLC now and worry about a game later.

Thanks 2K Games! You've just saved me a lot of time.

Just Cause 1 wasn't that bad. I had a huge amount of fun with it, despite the rough edges.

Even if it works, it still feels like a bad move for gaming in general.

True, that's a valid point about business. That said, there's not much out there which can't be made to run well under Vista.
