Not true, most of the companys I've been at have been long term employment. They don't usually like to lose their talent.
"Dev finished game, gets fired, hires on with other dev, makes other game. That's how the industry works." |

When your company shuts down, theres not much you can do about it. Also its pretty rare to get fired from a game company, most people who work at them are very talented and work very hard, do hours that no normal sane person will do just do meet the deadlines and get the game 'out' so before you call them idiots, get a clue.

Yea, but how many of them are just idiots who deserved to lose their job compared to those who lost it due to the recession? |

Oh and its gonna get worse for NA based devs, I randomly ran across a few websites for Indian Game developer uni's which train the gamut of profession from programming, animation & modeling and I don't think they're like the bullshit training schools here. Prepare for publishers to go even more to overseas talent/outsourcing at 1/4 the price. any jobs at Target? my unemployment is about to run out..hmmm...! |

| Seriously how much better than any other FPS could it have possibly been..theres only so much you can do with the technology at the end of the day its a 'zany FPS' even if they just done the exact same game with better graphics people would have bought it. I'd be interested to eventually find out what, if any innovations they came up with over 12 years of dev time..they must have had SOME good ideas..??!?? |

I wasn't criticizing this game, but the lack-of genre for Sci Fi space action games. Most space games now look like they could be played on a low grade cell phone and we're supposed to be happy while ever other genre is gettin eye poppin next gen graphics.
Maybe with Star Trek, Avatar and other movies sci-fi is making a come back and will interest publishers |
