When you get the "offer" of WoW pets...skip to the bottom and click the small red print.
No thanks, just give me a refund
It's a fucking joke they make you snail mail in a letter to request the refund. I subscribed online. I paid online. Why the hell can I not get my refund done electronically too?
Assholes.

And they aren't talking merely about PC sales. Many of the problems on the PC version did not exist in the console versions. Not to mention, a large chunk of game players do not follow every little drip feed of information about every game.
Word of mouth on the PC version has also been that of "the game is really fun, just buggy". People also know that the major issues, wrong version and disabled coop have been fixed for a week now.

A friend gave me his Radeon HD 4890 1gig. Every other game I own runs better, and with higher settings. Deus Ex...seems to actually stutter more. Hard to say for sure as I moved on to China not long after I got the new card.
I have the side off my comp, and I can hear Deus Ex putting the video card through the ringer. Whenever the stuttering starts the card fan tries to ramp up, and stutters and clicks along with the stuttering in the game. No other game does this. I've tried Crysis 2, Metro 2033, Witcher 2...all at max settings, and no problems.

Jerykk wrote on Sep 15, 2011, 19:36: Your complaints seem to center primarily on superficial issues like presentation. No, that's just all you are focusing on. I said I was having a hard time getting into the story because of the distractions from the graphics issues, bad models and bad animations. This is a very legitimate concern, and some of which cannot be fixed.
If the stuttering is not fixed in the patch today, I will try those DX drivers. But if those still do not work, then the game is likely shelved for me. The stuttering was sort of tolerable in the first hub, but in China, it's unbearable.
The gameplay is at it's best if played entirely Stealth, otherwise it doesn't really hold much challenge. This is where playing it your own way falls apart. The game is best played as Stealth. Playing any other way, the game just is not as good. I'm playing mostly as a shooter, but there are very few Augs that actually have any meaningful benefit to a shooter style player. Not to mention, there are areas that I'm forced into playing stealth, which is not how I've been trying to play the game.
Everytime I load it up to try and get into it again, I'm bored by the time I've finished a quest or two. Being bored, has nothing to do with the graphics or performance. I just haven't found the game all that engaging. I've found a lot of it to be much like work. ie: the dialogue scenes in DX, they bore me. Most of the time I could care less what they have to say (Tong [at the bar] in The Hive was an exception, he was a great character), as most are uninteresting characters and in many cases, their voice does not suit the character. Last night I decided to load up some SC2 and replay some missions on Hard, etc. The dialogue scenes...the characters are interesting and deliver their dialogue very well and I listen to them, even though I've heard it before.
I've even gone back and replayed Uncharted 2 twice, once on Hard and again on Crushing since DXHR came out. U2, now that's an engaging story and very fun gameplay.
For me, this is not the 9 or 9.5 out of 10 game that many people say it is. Despite the bugs and bad launch of Dead Island, it has turned out to be a far more fun game to play than Deus Ex. But I'd only rate it slightly higher than DX at 7.5, due to all the other problems DI has.
Ideally a game with the total package, story, sound, art, design and most importantly gameplay, comes together to make a great game. Deus Ex just doesn't live up to much of that, the biggest being gameplay. It just boils down to there being games that are more fun to play.

But lets fast forward 12 years, suggesting that it's ok for DXHR to have the same issues (along with some of it's own) as similar games from 12+ years ago is ridiculous. DXHR as far as I'm concerned only succeeds at a handful of things, and fails at another handful of things. It's a 7/10 game for me, and one I'm not even sure I'm going to bother finishing.
Edit: I'll give the drivers a try. The games performance is probably the biggest thing preventing me from enjoying it.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm finding it hard to get into Deus Ex. The game doesn't run well on my system, turning down settings doesn't help. A friend even gave me a better video card, still doesnt run well. The animations are pretty bad and the character movement is clunky. Nevermind the yellow color palette across the entire game.
The story seems alright, but I have a hard time getting into it due to the distraction of the bad character models and animations. I've played some stealthy and some as a shooter, putting points primarily into Hacking. The gameplay is at it's best if played entirely Stealth, otherwise it doesn't really hold much challenge. This is where playing it your own way falls apart.
Everytime I load it up to try and get into it again, I'm bored by the time I've finished a quest or two. Finding it difficult to even bother trying to finish it.
Rage, Arkham City and Uncharted 3 can't come soon enough.

I think a TPS action RPG game solely based on being a random Nights Watch peon would be great! Doesn't need to directly involve the main characters or political plotline, but the lore could be trickled about in the game.

Considering every in-game browser Dice has ever done has sucked, has been slow and unresponsive, not to mention the slow loading times...why would it matter if they moved it to a browser, while succeeding both in providing a better server browser and faster load times?
How long will it be until ads start cropping up in Battlelog, a few months after release? How about during Alpha test? If you are going to attempt to rip on something at least know what the fuck you are talking about. It's an EA game, In-game ads have been the norm for about 5 years now.
but I shouldn't have to have shitty Firefox or IE open to play a game. Then use a different browser if you feel they are both shitty. My browser is open pretty much 100% of the time anyways, whether I'm playing or not even at my comp. If you have a gaming PC, it can handle 150mb in memory and what little cpu usage it might use while idle. This isn't 1995 anymore.
Also how frequently are DICE going to keep up with Firefox, etc updates? What about surprise Microsoft updates that break its compatibility? What? Someone needs a smack upside the head. Again, if you are gonna bitch about something, know what the fuck you are talking about.
To me DICE yanking out the server browser benefits them a hell of alot more than it benefits us, the user/paying customer. I'm surprised that so many people are just drinking the cool-aid and not thinking about the long term ramifications of this. Really? What long term ramifications? Go on, tell us.

I said this the other day. "I caved and pre-ordered. I feel dirty now. EA, all I ask is lube me up thoroughly first."
I'll respond here to a couple comments.
The sum of all parts is, I don't like the business end bullshit that is being pulled. I hate origin as it is now, and every time I use it I go to do something I can in Steam and I cant. BUT, the game itself from what I hear and have seen is pretty damn good. I know more friends that are going to get it, than people that aren't. I want to play the game, I want to play the game with friends.
If I find out that there is no proper joystick support (ie: be like BF2 not BC2), I'll be considering canceling that pre-order.

I love the melee gameplay. It is very satisfying slicing and bludgeoning.
Finally got to play a little coop after the game's coop being broken for the first 3 days.
The game sucks as a coop game. a) you have to start together and keep playing together or b) get lucky and randomly have friends at the same point as you. c) There is basically zero reason for players to have to stick together, unlike Left 4 Dead. d) Random coop players just take your loot. Money & items don't appear to be shared. So if random coop person loots $3000, I didnt get a piece of it. I havent checked to make sure on this, but I never saw shared money messages when the other person was looting. Random players just seem to run ahead and loot everything, meanwhile I'm doing quests and exploring...only he is finishing other quests without me. It's a retarded system. The respawns are to help curb this, but doesn't really help a whole lot.
I don't have a problem with the durability depreciation, but it costs way too much to repair your nice weapons. This wasn't evident at the beginning of the game. But as I got into the level 15 (end of Act 1 and into Act II) ballpark, it began to eat up more money than I was bringing in...especially when there was someone else in the game with me taking a good portion of the loot.
Basically, I'll finish playing my main character solo, making the games private/friends only from now on. And I'll probably get a coop game going with someone from beginning to end. But very much like Borderlands...this sucks as a coop game with random players.

I love how people jump to the conclusion this equals people being banned for editing config files.
The person with all the config edits is just covering his ass with the warning.
I've never, ever, heard of someone being banned for editing config files.

Akuinnen wrote on Sep 9, 2011, 18:59: I think Krovven saying the US doesn't use the metric system is a stretch. There are plenty of fields that primarily use the metric system. Of course some do, we still use Imperial in Canada for some things. Just like those below, stating Roman Numerals aren't used would be incorrect as well. But officially, the US is still on imperial. Hell most of the print industry uses Imperial standards for paper, because of the US. 8.5x11 inches is a standard Letter sheet of paper in the US and Canada, in Europe it's A4 210 x 297 mm. But we don't use the metric format in Canada, we use the imperial format.
I'll say this yet again, using the metric measurement system applied to money is just plain stupid. And those that want to claim that's how it's done (K, M, B) because of the metric system, their argument falls apart when it comes to B for Billion, as the metric system would be G for Giga.
K, M & B are used because they are socially accepted, not because they are official or proper abbreviations.
'I dont care what the print industry does', is pretty fucking ignorant and immature. Would you care to use "does not, does too" as your argument next time? Who do you think prints all those fancy law books, advertising and financial documents for your industries? And why the fuck should I care about you and your input on how things are done in your industry when you are going to talk like a child instead of having a discussion?

By your own arguments B for Billion would be wrong as well. It should be G.
As for "the rest of the world", last I checked the US still uses Customary Units (Imperial), not the Metric system.
But as I have already pointed out, applying weight and measurement abbreviations to money is stupid (personal opinion).
We can argue about it all day. It wasnt meant to be a big debate, rather a little tease at Blue. Some of you are way to overly dramatic about it.
