It does do the job, by appearances, of giving you something new to play with every few levels. It probably does this up to cap, but since you cant see any but the next few skills or runes you'll unlock, there's no way of knowing what all skills you'll get or runes you'll have access to until you get close to unlocking them.

The UI for skill/runes could be better, but it's functional and it's clear to the user what they are supposed to do. You CAN see all Skills and all Runes at the start of the game, so no clue what you are talking about there. I believe all skills will be unlocked by level 30, all Runes unlocked by 40. After that it's earning Rune points to upgrade your abilities. Want to see what the other runes do before you get them, mouse over them and read.

Blizzards skill calculator is here. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian

Yes please. Anything to get Dev to shut the fuck up about his constant know-it-all harping over miniscule Steam downtime. Think you can do better Dev, put your money where your mouth is.

Steam has far far less than 1% downtime which is way beyond acceptable in any industry. Your home is probably without power more often per year than Steam is inaccessible.

but Beta 13 made a lot of improvements to the game that I approve of.

This^. Patch 13 changed up the skill system, adding in the Runes for customizing the skills. Huge improvement to the game. Still some balancing needed here and there, but it's a drastic improvement making the game more fun.

Let the haters hate. Most probably aren't even in the beta and haven't played for themselves.

So what is BattleTag (the blizzard site is down for me)?. Another shady try from Blizzard to implement RealID?.

You want to complain about free services and make negative comments about simple community focused features, I'll just add you to the ever growing list of douchebags on Blues.

You guys crack me up. They are FPS, coop, zombie shooters. L4D is better (for me) for one simple reason, Versus, it's what made L4D shine and stand out from every other coop shooter. Running from point A to B with no real purpose than to survive each wave and get to the vendor, gets old very fast.

I guess the question is when has DICE ever been good at communicating with the community? As far as I know, they never have been.

Exactly. I took a gamble on BF3, love the game, but it's filled with numerous technical problems that make it very difficult to enjoy playing the game. I still can't play Single Player due to the constant sound & video skipping, which is even worse in the cutscenes. The intro vid takes over 5min to play through despite being less than 2min in length.

Releasing a patch to support an unreleased video card before fixing the problems on existing video card series just pisses me off.

The last BF game I bought at full price (before BF3) was BFV. BC2 I got for $10. I gave Dice the benefit of the doubt and they proved to me again why I stopped supporting them after BFV. BF3 will be the last again at full price.

Seconded. I tried the demo the day it came out. I didnt even bother finishing it. I normally like some over the top combat (Just Cause 2, SR3) but KOAR bored me. Games in the first 15min should not be boring.

Except almost all games *are* boring in the first 15 minutes. It's called pacing and tutorials. A game as simple as Amalur in no way needs a tutorial, though.

I disagree. While most may get better as you get out of the introduction area, I wouldnt say most are boring in the first 15min of the game, tutorial or not.

If you can't make the introduction to a game interesting, then the designer has failed at his job. When you put that introduction in your demo, then it better be good enough to make me want to keep playing. As far as I'm concerned, based on what I played, this is a $10 game, and even people that have played beyond the demo are saying the same thing. So clearly playing beyond where I played not much changes.

If you are interested in Kingdoms of Amalur try the demo. I thought it looked pretty neat and said so recently on bluesnews, then was encouraged to play the demo. Now I will not buy it, at least not until bargain bin time.

Doesn't mean you won't like it, but try before you buy.

Uhhm it's called Hardcore mode. Have you never played a Diablo game before?

I guess people just want yet another human vs human shooter. Thanks but I'll pass. Personally I found MechWarrior games to be too slow paced. But I also don't like hyper-speed twitch shooters all that often anymore. This could be just the thing.

F2P, but the FAQ mentions it being a downloadable title with a low cost. Will be interesting to see more details on this in the coming months.

I REALLY liked Space Marine. One of the best 3rd Person action games I've played in a long time. Unlike others, I never got bored with the visceral and satisfying carnage.

I got it for $12 from GMG around New Years. I haven't finished it yet, but I did get kinda bored rather quickly. The environments are horrible. The vistas are above average. The voice acting and combat are the only things really holding the game together for me.

For $12 I got a good deal. If I had paid $50, I'd have wasted money. $20 for Saints Row 3 from GMG has been one of my best purchases lately.

Yeah no, you just wanted an excuse to post foolish and naive but whatever, I'm not going to e-fight with you about it.

And you just want to be an asshole and tell other people what they mean with their comments and then state you dont want to "e-fight" about it. Talk about passive aggressive. Don't start trying to tell me what I'm saying or how to say it, or this discussion will turn into something neither of us want it to. If you want to get personal because you can't handle someone criticizing your over simplification of the issue and obvious misunderstanding of my viewpoint, then we are done talking.

When you're trading in a game the main value of it is derived from the perceived value of the title itself and it's pretty much the same story in reverse for retail purchases. The industry is trying to change this with preorder DLC and stuff but multiplayer codes send the wrong message IMO.

You are arguing with me for the sake of arguing, typical Verno bullshit. I'm not debating trade-in value. I'm debating what the benefit is of paying $55 for a used game instead of $60 for a new game has for me the consumer when I know that the Pubs/Devs will not see a dime of that and I will likely not even get everything in that used box as I would the new box. Something you have yet to even touch on. To me there is ZERO benefit, and you have yet to explain how you think it's worth it.

My point was simply that the game itself is functionally identical.

And my point was that it's foolish and naive to simplify the factors involved to only whether the game works or not, because that's not the only factor involved.

It's a double edged sword, there is no black and white. Don't see how that is hard to figure out.

Well, it's not hard for me to figure out what I believe, it's trying to figure out what you believe that I'm having trouble with.

I've edited my last post. Hopefully its more clear for you. Don't see how it matters whether I'm pro one side or the other, cus really I'm not. But my actions in this case tend to side with the Pubs & Devs as that makes the most sense long term.

GameStop and every other retailer that deals in Used games could disappear today and it wouldn't upset me in the slightest. But every time a Pub shuts down a Dev, it's a sad day.
