I havent played Portal 2 since the first week it was out. I've loaded it a couple times, reminded of the puzzle I was stuck on and then quit out.
Was after the escape, big lake or just bottomless pit...and I can't see a single wall that will help me get anywhere.
One of these days I'll look up the solution and continue on. I too found several of the puzzles to be very vague, with only one solution...unlike Portal, I did beginning to end without having to look anything up. |

People hate the Metro design on Xbox Live too, and it's built for that.
I'm willing to try Windows 8 when it's officially released. But I'm not pre-ordering it like I did with Windows 7. Windows 7 is easily the best OS they have made, now they are going to go fuck it all up with this bullshit dumbed down touch screen interface that nobody even wants. |

I've debated a lot whether to take the 15th off work, and decided to do it anyways for shits and giggles. If nothing else, I'll catch up on Legend of Grimlock and a couple other games if B.net happens to be down. Or should I say "when it's down" as Im sure it will be a few times in the first day or two while they fix things.

And Gabe has access to all of that data. He isn't saying every game does that, but it's obviously often enough for him to talk about it. Other developers have talked about it. Other Publishers have talked about it. It's not like it's some super secret and there isn't enough information for those that need it.
Other companies follow a different philosophy with some of their products. Namely Acti-Blizz.

If by Moderator, you mean the Community Manager...that position tends to know more about an overall game than most of the devs. And info about the Beta not being a Demo has been in more than a few places on the official website and forums.
StingingVelvet wrote on Apr 23, 2012, 14:28: God I hate how Steam sales have ruined the value of games. OMG it's a year old it isn't worth shit! How silly... Penny Arcade article regarding Valve pricing.
Valve’s Gabe Newell once spoke about a series of pricing experiments on Steam, and stated that a price reduction of 75 percent should mean gross revenue remains constant, based on their prior experience. “Instead what we saw was our gross revenue increased by a factor of 40,” he said. “Not 40 percent, but a factor of 40. Which is completely not predicted by our previous experience with silent price variation.” |

I've purchased every game Blizzard has released on the PC since Warcraft 2. I don't have some kind of agenda against Blizzard. I want Diablo 3 to be great. That's why I've been questioning every lousy design decision they've made. It's also not like I grew jaded from the gameplay either. I just played the crap out of D1 and D2 a few months ago. I'm ready for the next Diablo!
It's a horrible feeling because Blizzard games used to feel like an event. Now, I won't be buying D3 or MoP this year. That sucks. I'm not paying $60 this limp dick - even after waiting for so long. So a fanboy is anyone that doesn't agree with you? Pull your head out of your ass.

Well, a lot of that falls under salary doesn't it? I think it's a no-brainer that these funds go to salaries and thus living expenses. People that have a problem with Kickstater devs getting paid are idiots. What makes games? Manpower. Development money is mostly spent on man hours. People don't work for free. If you do work for free, you are stupid. Those that are actually in the financial position to work and take it off the backend later, that's their choice.
Just don't expect because it's through Kickstarter that devs should just donate their time to a project. Anyone that thinks this, should goto their boss tomorrow and tell them they don't want to be paid for 6 months, for the good of the company.

What happened to all the retards that said this could be beaten in less than an hour first time through?
I only see people saying it took about 3 hrs.
It's a stress test. People complain that Beta's are just demo's now. Blizzard has repeatedly stated that their Beta is an actual Beta, not a demo. If you are one of these people, you're a hypocrite. They've been tweeting constantly the last 48 hrs about how they are continually working to improve the performance during the stress test. I knew better than to even try playing this weekend.
So many trolls posting too. Horrible voice acting? Bad sound? We clearly aren't playing the same game.

And that they are not only voiced, but they say more than 1 generic thing, and what they say changes as you progress through the story.

listen & read all quest and flavour text Everything isn't voiced? Can you go into more detail on what you have to read? I despise that fluff text that they throw up on simple quests as if we're here to read a novel.
So many MMO's do this and I don't get it. Keep it short and sweet. 3-4 lines to explain what is needed and voice the rest. All quest text is voiced, including side quests. Townsperson babble is not, however. Also wrong. Random NPCs have things to say (that IS voice acted), and what they say changes as you progress through the game. They just don't always have a skippable text window come up.
Quests and major characters have both voice and text. Some are from characters that have a list of topics to talk to them about. You won't see this unless you try talking to them beyond the Main Storyline stuff. This is the same as previous games. Sometimes they will have Blue Stars above their heads indicating they want to talk to you further about a sub plot.
There are lots of Journals and Notes hidden around that greatly increases the depth of the world. Their exact location is random to a certain area. They can sometimes be tricky to spot, but once you know the areas to check... These are also voiced/text and can be played back from your Journal.
But the speed racers wouldn't have a clue about most of this.

I've beat the beta in 4 player coop in 45min. We raced from beginning to end, killing as little as possible, looted only what was in front of me and Blue, talked to nobody, skipped all quest text/info, didn't train the Blacksmith, etc.
It's a great way to have zero fun at all.

Let me say though that the Tide-o-Hype got me swimming along. That doesn't mean I understand it. To me, Diablo kinda games aren't that interesting. The start is, but later on in the game you're being nothing but zerged the entire time. I hardly ever finished a Diablo (clone) because it got so goddamn tedious at some point.
In those games, plot at some point gives way to mindless enemy waves. I still love it while it lasts, don't get me wrong, but the hype...? It's a mystery to me. I quit Torchlight after a few days for this reason. I barely got anywhere in Diablo 2. Boggles my mind that people still play it.
But whatever floats your boat. I have a friend who is so obsessed with loot that these types of games trump anything else for him. *shrug* While the loot does add to the fun, I have never obsessed over it in these types of games. For me the Diablo universe and the presentation of that universe attracts me to it. The gameplay is fun for me. Does it require a lot of thought or skill? No not really. Which is fine as far as I'm concerned. I play everything from basic shooters or platformers to strategy games, each have their rewards. I get that some people aren't going to enjoy it, to each their own.

Paths of Exile just felt like a grind. Tradeskill components being the currency isn't a bad thing necessarily, but also making that assorted currency take up a lot of inventory slots just contributed to the game feeling like a grind.
Was playing coop with a friend and we only lasted an hour or so before we were both done. PoE just felt like a grind with not a lot of fun.
Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 will be the ones I play. And went in on the $35 Kickstarter for Grim Dawn for next year. |

Lots of secrets and several different classes and class specialization to play with.
Mod tools are coming apparently.
