1 Games. 2 Expansions.
The only difference is the expansions are fully planned before the actual game is released ... as opposed to most other RTS' that test the waters with the games release before they get too heavily involved with the expansions. I guess Blizzard know the game is going to be a winner anyway so why bother testing the waters? Go figure?
So it's really not different from COH, Warcraft, or any number of other games out there.

| lol! $80 is nothing for a game. Over here were paying over $100 for an average new game. The Aussie dollar is just about parity with the US ... and you think $80 is a lot? Pfft? |

I played FE for a little just over a month ago. I really liked it, but more happy living in my subscription free world with Lifetime CO, LotRO and playing DDO with mates.
Come to think of it, Turbine must be making a fortune from DDO. The convenience factor of just throwing money at a problem is very seductive. |

Wow talk about taking too long to make. They should be doing this with NWN2 or DAO toolset. I got rid of dungeon siege years ago. Considering how long it's taken them to do it using DS, do you honestly think their going to do it all again using a different engine? I think these people should be applauded for persisting with what it obviously a labor of love.
So if you want to play, trawl a bargain bin somewhere. I'm sure there must be an store somewhere near you that has DS for sale. |

... but I was told that combat was relatively slow-paced like old ships of the line slugging it out and that you could do things like order your crew to repair damage, or reroute power to the shields from elsewhere ... They are. |

| This is finally our chance to be heard. Atkinson can stand firm against a torrent of well thought out and positive responses to this debate, however while he does, he will increasingly be marginalised as his credibility is worn away. And he loves his position in the government too much to make this his political death bed. |

Star Trek was about diplomacy and exploration Did you even WATCH the original series of Star Trek? The original series was just about always about combat. STO is thankfully a throwback to TOS where we can indulge our Kirk-like fantasies of having a bit of biff in space ... with just a minor reference to that Next Gen "how do you feel Mr Slathering Alien Beastie. I sense you just need a HUG!" travesty. |

They did this same thing with Champions Online, and it was idiotic when they did it for that game, too. It's the same thing that 90% of MMORPG publishers do nowadays. |

I wish they'd open the beta up now. I could really use an MMOG to waste some time since work has slowed to a crawl. Considering they only really just started closed beta only a month ago, you really don't want it go to Open Beta. |

Out of curiosity, how have you guys already played it if it's not in stores for another month? It came out in Oz last week. It's not bad, but it's not a patch on DA:O which is what is currently absorbing my time. I think it compares favorably to Risen, which I enjoyed ... except for the Mario/Zelda ending. (ARGH!!) |

Blue's News has more whiners than any other site I read. As much as I'm inclined to agree with you, the Blues News crowd are rank amatuers in the whining stakes compared to No Mutants Allowed. Those guys have exceeded all expectations for whining and I firmly believe if it was made an Olymipic sport, they could easily take the Gold and set almost unbreakable world records. Even my grandfather can't beat them, and that's saying something.
That wasn't a whine, by the way ... just an observation. |
