Your giving him WAY too much credit, Cutter. It's not like quality and safety based laws and regulations are important for Food, Infrastructure, Medical and Teaching. The basic foundation of society. I wonder what the medical diagnosis is for someone who strives, advocates and hopes, for the dismantling and destruction of society.

I bet it's a funny word. Hahaha_no

According to Tron creator Steven Lisberger, Tron 2.0 was the official sequel to the 1982 film Tron, but was later declared non-canon by Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski.
Kosinski's the king of douchebaggery, since he basically lifted the plot and lore of Tron 2! If it wouldn't have been for Bridges and
Olivia's hot naked body, it would have been a flop! Tickling

xXBatmanXx I had the singleplayer price point at $30 US, with multiplayer it easily moves to $45 US, imo.

jdreyer, hey maybe I'm the only one who didn't feel compelled to go to every single spot in Dying Light, the way I did in Dead Island. Zombie

Does anyone else remember seeing at least a preview or an in game cutscene of how Crane got chosen/hired by GRE?

Wow, Darks 17 hours to complete Dead Island? Faint

jacobvandy, I really think the developer was intentionally trying to mislead or maybe there is a language barrier issue. He says it's 3 or 4 times the size of Dead Island Map and there's just no way. Dead Island had at least 4 good size maps, sure they were not 100% accessible, but Dying Light really isn't either.

Secondly he talks about how proud and good the main story is, which I'm not sure many people agree with, nor do I want to get into spoilers.

I could have needed more exploring or remembering wrong but there buildings in Old Town without access. I remember several in Harran where sort of puzzles, where one building could lead to access to another.

Huh, is it that short? I heard someone on a gaming podcast mention they were 20 hours in, and only half way done with the story. That sounded like a decent amount.
No in general it's not that short, but I was comparing it to Dead Island, so maybe it's subjective. I remember Dead Island single player being much longer, mostly due to exploration feels different, better in Dead Island. Being in the city/slums checking the same looking building over and over again gets boring, well imo. There geographic diversity in Dead Island was a good catalyst for wanting to see everywhere.

jacobvandy I'll look again, but I still think you are confusing having to RUN everywhere, which makes it seem smaller than being able to drive everywhere. The maps look about the same size to me, maybe that makes me crazy. However I never said, reachable area either. There are tons of places in Dying Light with cliffs which serve no purpose other than to be an obstacle.

Darks, I don't see anyone saying they just rushed through the main story. I'm not even sure it's possible to get your skills up, without doing side quests. I've done every quest, well there was one quest which didn't fire correctly.

No Spoiler, explanation below.

It had to do with 'The Brothers' quest line final quest. It requires you to go to another new map, which was previously unknown. At least to me and the others in the main forums who had the same issue. The problem was the audio fired at a bad time and the journal didn't even record it. Well it turns out you have to go to this new map, for the journal to register it's not Harem or Old Town.

beremot I agree about the writing, the main quest often makes me want to punch the writer. Biting I do still think the voice acting is SO much better in Dying Light, especially the side quests. No cars, but the Grapple is pretty awesome.

jacobvandy Dying Lights first map is big but it's not any bigger than the first map of Dead Island. So I'm not sure how you see the comparison as unfair, it's apples to apples comparison. Additionally I said the game was about half the length of Dead Island, which is accurate as well.

Btw, did I miss a cutscene I really don't remember seeing one which explains how Crane was chosen and hired by the GRE? I could have sworn I had seen a preview about it, though.

That's a good point Tim Collins made about driving. Even though you could only drive unfettered on the first map in DI it was a blast and probably why it's my favorite map. And Frijoles is right about the price point, too.

In comparison to other RPGs though, there's really no more running than any other game and the parkour is/can be fun.

xXBatmanXx, not sure what sort of info your looking for but here's a quick bit I posted at another site when asked.
JDR13, I can only speak to Dying Light as a single player game atm, since I'm still waiting to try multiplayer with a friend away atm. It's a much better acted story, than Dead Island. Admittedly not hard to do if you remember the horrible acting from DI.

The main story is not without it's frustrations, the main villain interactions can be extremely annoying. The game is about half the length of DI, it only covers two maps for the most part. The parkour is a very cool feature, a couple of times the height of jumps made me stop, catch my breath and dry my hands. Sweatdrop

I don't really see how anyone could go wrong, if they liked DI, excepting the price. Well the game is shorter too, but much more refined in a good way (not perfect). I'm guessing you waited concerned about the price point of $60 US. So if you imagine yourself buying DI, at what price point was it worth it to you. Personally played DI for near 300 hours (just the time registered on Steam) and paid about $45 US. GreenMan always seems to have a 20% coupon, if you don't want to wait for random sale or Steam Summer sale. Do you know about Is There Any Deal?

Techland didn't screw anything up, if that's what your wondering. All in all it's a better version of DI. WarnerB does seem to care about long term so official modding does seem to be in the works.

With so much DLC coming and modding (per press release 2 or 3 days ago) now I'm wondering if the shorter game was more an attempt to extend the life with DLC.

Zombies really are the perfect enemy and a zombie apolocalypse really is the perfect backdrop to an open-world survival game, which is why it is repeatedly used and also why people like me keep buying them.
Speaking of, is anyone trying The Forest? If their update on Tuesday tweaks COOP, I don't think I can resist buy it! It sounds much better than dayz and h1z1 with Coop being added and really nice graphics. The only thing missing seems to be an RPGish feel, no actual character development or questing.

Wow, based on reviews of H1Z1, I'm amazed it even made this list, let alone the fact that it's still Early Access and will be FREE to play eventually.(not counting their microtransaction airdrops)
Think it's the same people who have been buying Dayz. So they don't really give a crap, as long as there is ganking!

Cutter wrote on Feb 8, 2015, 12:17:
How the fuck are people not sick of zombie survival games by now? This reminds me of that WWII glut a decade ago.
I still believe it's due to zombies being the perfect enemy. They are 'Bulletproof' in gaming, since they are free from political and religious abuse/use.

Imagine the ayatollah or pat robbertson saying you will go to hell for killing zombies. Idiots can't use it for personal power gains, like leland lee or sara "got no brains for zombies to eat" palin.

Btw, that's really her online handle. Mwahaha
