Good Customer Service move |

| Simply a good PR move and good customer service. If you pay for food and its cold it makes sense to replace and maybe give a dessert for free. Same mentality here. If you ask someone to pay for a product and it has some minor inconveniences then it is always smart to offer an incentive or a discount. |

Just a quick FYI about fees |

Hi,
I work for UPS. The reason why charges are cheaper with Canada Post is because it can cover costs for parcel delivery with the huge $$$ it pulls in from its monopoly from mail. Take away its ability to cover its losses in parcel delivery, you lose nice prices. That's why the prices are different. Not sure about other company prices but UPS has been trying (as well as other Canadian freight companies) to get the Canadian Gov't to get its nose out of the freight business. Approximately 200+ freight companies in Canada so we don't need a Gov't controlled one. Keep your eyes on the business papers and you will see what I mean. UPS beef is that its anti competitive... |

| Blizzard always has the coolest opening cinematics I have ever seen. Just downloaded it. I wish these guys would make movies. I'm serious. I would pay to see a movie made with the people who do the cinematics. |

Or maybe you just need to stop being so anal retentive
So very true.
I think BF1942 is a fantastic game. For fun factor it ranks right up there with action quake, quake 2 and Duke Nukem. Anyone else confused why we don't see more games with great guns like Duke? Who didn't like the shrink gun, freeze ray, pipe bombs, trip mines, devastator etc. No game has come close for sheer hilarity. |

In response to Gimp...
Amen brother!
Enjoy the now and worry about future games when they arrive. My frame of reference is always in weeks not months. Well, except for HL2 but that's a good exception right?
PS - Is it just me or did it seem that once the hoopla died down about Doom3 the impression I get is no one is playing it anymore. I could be wrong... |

It is just that good of a game (hopefully). They took their time to get everything right instead of a Doom 3 rush-it-out-before-Halflife2 sort of deal. You really should check it out. I have never been as excited for a game like I am for this one (well, except for the first Final Fantasy for the NES).
Yo Hurcules u must be joking right? Rush? It took forever for that game to come out. They can put probes on other planets faster then some developers to make a stupid video game... |

Love WW2 games but.... |

I have to agree with many people that this game looks pretty and fun but I think that COD just has a tighter more realistic feel to it. MOH PA feels also like the old commando video game where troops come at you in waves. I did like the planes flying overhead though. That looked pretty neat.
When I watched gameplay movies of the new COD expansion it looks like you can think a bit and have a bit of strategy. When I played the demo I just felt like I was always emptying my clip as quick as possible to stay alive. Hardly aimed at all. If you like that, then you will definately like this game. All the power to you
Last point. Not sure why people are getting annoyed with the whole WW2 genre. It was easily the biggest conflict in history and there are SOOOOO many stories that have never been told yet. Also guided weapons aren't involved so I find gameplay in vehicles is all even based on leading and aiming instead of waiting for 'tone' and letting a radar or computer do the shooting (modern weaponry). It was a real thing ofcourse so you can get into the emotion of it. It's a real hoot to think that you can fight in battles that actually happened and maybe get just a 1% taste of what it might be like. Scares the crap out of me when I think that people actually fought in conditions even remotely like these games... |

This game is fun and pretty. I'm noticing more and more that people are getting harder to please when it comes to PC games based on comments in this forum...
I've never played a strategy game that felt this immersive before from a battle standpoint. I played Shogun but this is even better IMHO. Charging with war elephants is just hilarious and worth the download alone although it did make the battle stupid easy |

| Is anyone else out there annoyed that every gaming website seems to always benchmark using the top 5% hardware although sales of budget hardware comprises a huge amount more of market share? Noticed this trend yet again with Doom3 and HL2 benchmarks. I've got a 9500 Pro and AMD Mobile 2500+ and I hardly ever see gaming websites using this technology (3 yrs old+). Does anyone know of websites that cater to the more budget minded consumer and not people that can blow 400 USD every year for a new video card? |

Let's face it, id had one great and revolutionary game and since then all they've done is make a new engine, showcase it in a mediocre game, and let the mod community do all the original stuff. Oh, and of course licence that engine out for ungodly sums of dough. Does anyone really think that they can pay all their expenses for the last 4 years (or however long this thing has been in development) on the retail sales?

I like Doom3. Beautiful game and fun to play. With that said, with everything I've seen from Half-life 2, I think HL2 is going to make Doom3 look a little small.
Don't get me wrong. These games are completely different genres when it comes to the gameplay, but I think HL2 is going to have so much of a rich story and some thrilling sequences that Doom3 is going to be remembered as a great engine and a good game but that's it. Oh and what's up with the AI in Doom3? We are talking 1991 intelligence? As good as Doom3 is I'm still let down. I mean 4 years in the making? The engine is really pretty...but 4 years?

My specs playing Doom3 |

Do not upgrage your computer without playing first... Mobile 2500+ running 210 FSB at 2000mhz ...usually run at 2500 but the summertime is too damn hot. 9500 Pro
I'm running the game with full eye candy at 1024 with 2x antialiasing. It's not blazing but I'm seeing about 20 frames. I know what your thinking must lag like crap but actually it is very playable and it looks soooooo pretty I don't want to turn it down. Every once in a while it will hiccup but very forgiving based on the gameplay overall.
My point is DONT UPGRADE until you've played this game because if my system runs it fine then all you 9700 pro and better vid owners should be all *shits and giggles* when you see this

I only got a 2.1 setup. Sorry can't answer that. The sound is really cool though.
I just got past the part with the dog-like monster. It comes ramming into the door for awhile, can't get through so it goes through the window. I thought I was going to soil myself...
When creatures hit you everything goes sideways and its hard to fight back. Also hitboxes are really precise. I get the feeling that when you play this multi player you can literally clip someones earlob.

Loving it. I screamed like a little girl about 5 times on the first level.
Graphics look great. Games feels really polished. Best comparison or comment I can make is that it feels like a cross between Half Life and AvP but with WAY better graphics...
