News Comments > id Hasn't Forgotten RAGE
6. Re: id Hasn't Forgotten RAGE Jul 5, 2012, 19:39 Silicon Avatar

I'd forgotten about Rage to be honest. I remember when Id releases were a big deal. Now everyone has a decent 3D engine and Id is still painting the world brown and using the same gameplay from 15 years ago... Carmack should just quit like he obviously wants to and concentrate on his rockets.

I haven't used the command line in ages.

There's no particular reason to get rid of it though.

L4D2 needs a strong injection of new weapons and zombie variants.

Pyro-vision is pretty fun. I re-installed the game just to see what was added. I'll probably play a a while.

Pyro was way cooler when the fire stuck to the floor and made anyone stepping on it catch on fire too.

That was OP but it was a lot of fun.

While I'm at it, Engineer mini-sentries should be stick-able on the ceilings and walls.

Spy is great at dragging the flag out of the base and/or resetting the pick-up timer. Just go in cloaked or with dead-ringer (dead ringer is best) and touch the flag. If you move it on top of that, it's a bonus. Even if you are on fire you can often still touch the flag and reset the timer. The more you have the enemy's flag/intel out in the open the more they have to play defense.

Smart teams will have someone switch to pyro to use the compression blast to keep spies away from the intel/flag. If someone actually grabs the flag then you can use compression blast to send them flying backwards.

I think demo-man is a bigger newb class than pyro. All you have to do is set up sticky mines and wait.

On maps with capture points things are a bit different. Spy is suited to screwing with teleporters and sentry guns on those maps.

I think Firefox has a serious case of feature-itis.

All it needs to do is browse the web in the most secure way possible. That's all it has to do.

Yeah, seriously. It's ninety bucks to try it the full game with all expansions and there's no demo.

No sale.

It's too bad Stardock botched their last game so badly. They should've been making GalCiv 3 by now.

Aren't most people done with the game now? It seems a little late for this, but I guess they are trying to salvage it so they can sell DLC.

Maybe when the GOTY edition comes out on steam for $10 I'll pick it up.

I'd never even heard of Distant Worlds and now I want to try it as well.

It does need a GoTY version though. Badly.

How long could it possibly take to process a credit card?

This is something retail does in like 3 seconds.

The news headline should read: Professor freed to find university that teaches climate change skepticism. Fox's favorite toy, the free market, will surely solve his unemployment problem.

I wish they would make a real sequel to that game.

I don't really get why people are so surprised that having 700+ million gas-burning cars, hundreds of millions of heated homes, an untold number of factories, hundreds of thousands of acres of pavement, heavy deforestation, etc. might possibly upset/change things on a planetary scale.

It might be cool, but there's no way would I buy version 1. If it catches on and they make another one with all the bugs worked out then I'll give it serious consideration.

The rewording is shorter, more concise, and better worded. From a reader's point of view it gets the message across without immediately bringing to mind the competition - something you don't necessarily want readers/viewers to be thinking about while you're trying to sell things. That's all I'm really seeing.
