Great, that movie was a real winner! |

Good to see the studio is sparing no expense getting the best and brightest directors. I mean, Cradle 2 the Grave was just a seminal piece of filmmaking.

You'll pardon me if I don't take a right-wing news website at face value, particularly one that has a picture of Charlton Heston off to the left (ironic, no?).
If videogames made people violent, we would logically expect to see an increase in violent crime over the past, say, 10 years, right? Hate to break it to you, and I invite you to hit www.fbi.gov to see for yourself, but violent crime has actually DIMINISHED. So much for the murder training programs.

It's misleading |

The statement that games make people more violent is inaccurate; in studies, playing games has proven to make people more overtly agressive, not violent. Incidentally, it isn't necessarily a bad thing, since aggressiveness can also mean assertiveness. Either way, it's flawed logic. Playing games in a hyper-real environment doesn't make me a better killer or a more accurate marksman in real life.

Well, he could be leaving because LucasArts has turned into a sad shell of it's former self, whoring it's Star Wars license out for a series of fairly mediocre games, with a few notable exceptions. Or the fact that instead of innovating, it's trying to milk every ounce out of the much loved titles it published under the guidance of true gaming visionaries.
No big loss, I say.

That was the most poignant observation ever. Way to contribute.
Seriously, though, besides the minor memory hit of Steam running in the background, what's the problem with it? You sign on to it with your old HL CD Key, and boom, you can get access to all the latest (theoretically cheat-proofed) mods, new patches, previous games from Valve that you can download and install right on to your computer...I just don't see the problem.
Granted, those on 56k connections are screwed...but hey, it's time to upgrade, people.

Oh good, a minor price cut on a new title. Yet again, the legions of lawyers go to bat for us little people and hit a home run. Hooray. Huzzah. 5%.
I mean, alrighty, I guess if everyone takes advantage of it we might do some damage, but 5% off another game from them? Yeeha. "We've been naughty, so here's a coupon so you can spend MORE MONEY AT OUR STORE". I swear to God, where's Matlock or Perry Mason when you need them.

Once I get home from work I'm doing a search for his name on the servers just so I can beat him into the ground. In fact, I'd go so far as to hope he's on a TK enabled server so I can kill him no matter what.

Speaking of Hitler and the Assault Rifle |

In fact, one of the technological innovations that 3rd Reich scientists developed was the modern day assault rifle. In fact, the Nazi design was so effective it is still around today; the AK-47. Oh it's been tweaked and modified a bit, especially the newer models, but for all intents and purposes it's the same weapon the Nazi's had. If they'd been able to develop and mass produce an assault rifle like that, the impressive firepower advantage the Nazi's enjoyed for the bulk of the conflict would have been even more overpowering. It might not have been a deciding factor in the war, but then one can never tell.
As for the rocket packs, I'm stuck thinking of that little Nazi propaganda flick from "The Rocketeer", with the thousands of 3rd Reich RocketTroopers soaring over the Capitol and whatnot. Of course, in BF1942 it's going to be a lot cooler since you can plink them out of the sky. Wonder if you'll be able to have a jetpack instead of a parachute?

Well, I don't know much about the video card, but I do know I've been thinking about having to buy a 9800 to play Half-Life 2 on, so this could wind up being pretty cool.
I'm a little disbelieving that they'd be moving UP the release date, but it's not like I'd complain if they did!

Player not taking any damage |

SciFi |

#16 mentioned that the player didn't take any damage, and that that must've meant they were in Godmode playing the game. On closer inspection, it turns out that's not true, since at least in Traptown the player takes damage to both the HEV suit armor and the player health. Granted, this damage isn't terribly significant, and could indicate that the damage was tweaked down a bit for the playthrough, but it could just as well indicate that they were playing on "I don't want to die!" level of difficulty

Seriously, I've always wondered why you don't just ban fredrickson (or his IP, if it's static). I mean, whee, he used to be funny, I guess, but now he's just an irritating boil on the Blue's News forums.
