| Tim Sweeney pulled ahead of Carmack a long time ago when it came to making engines people actually wanted to license and play. It really doesn't matter though. Make the game fun and people will buy it. All the engine talk anymore is frankly rather boring. |

While we can speculate that the Wii craze will die, it isn't showing any signs. I thought it would. You thought it would. Depends on what metric you use. For number of consoles sold, I agree, Wii is still dominating. When it comes to software sold, however, I believe the Wii is way behind. I read somewhere (can't find it now), that the average Wii user has only 1.2 software units per console sold. That's abysmal. After Wii Sports and maybe some of the few other titles you mentioned, there's just no incentive to buy anything else. |

| OpenGl has been behind the times for quite some time now. I started 3d development on OGL, but the vendor-specific extensions were a pain. I knew it was just a matter of time before they fell too far behind to be seriously considered anymore. I converted to D3D about a year ago and haven't looked back. |

That first article is terrible.
Nintendo did NOT get it right. Not for the long term. Sure they sold lots of consoles, but nobody wants to play a serious game on their crappy graphics.
Their console is good for Wii Sports, and that's about it. Long term I think the Wii is in trouble unless they do something much better graphics and controller wise. |

So the gay community is upset that the online community has co-opted the word "gay" for "stupid", when they themselves co-opted the word that used to mean "happy".
That's some funny irony right there. |

id really seems to have lost it.
They used to be the Gods of PC gaming.
Now they're not even average. |

| I'll wait for the reviews. I hear the campaign is porked at the moment. Problems like that should never see the light of day. |

I played the demo, which wasn't bad. Then I did what a lot of people do, which is - wait for it - read a few reviews before I rushed out and bought it.
Well, the reviews weren't favorable, so guess what? I didn't buy it.
You should try it sometime. |

Yep, came in here to post the same thing but y'all beat me to it.
These need to be removed from the "reviews" section. |

Apparently you never picked up and played the PS2 port. I understand it was originally a PC game (I shudder to think how that plays) but this was one of those games that just wasn't that fun for the Playstation.
Uh, why would anyone assume you're talking about the PS2 port? The PC version of Mafia was brilliant. Can't wait for the sequel. |

| With the amount of content coming out, and the little extra play each one provides, it seems like this will end up all coming in one DVD eventually. That I will probably buy. |

Wow, what got up your ass? Did the OnLive folks kill your dog or something?
Flash is totally incapable of what OnLive is describing here - a technology that they've spent 7+ years building, and have successfully demonstrated in a pretty legitimate test environment at GDC.
Look, there's every reason to be skeptical, especially when real internet latency starts becoming an issue. But why the hell are you so seethingly HATEFUL about this idea? Because I'm tired of conmen and their technically ignorant minions like yourself who nod their heads and say "give it a chance" when it doesn't have a chance in hell to succeed. Anybody with even a rudimentary knowledge of internet infrastructure would know that this idea isn't even CLOSE to practical. Yet here we are wasting time trying to explain internet basics to stupid fanboys who are easily manipulated by a few smoke and mirror demos.
So yes, I'm seething at the continued ignorance I constantly see around me. Thank you for contributing to the idiocy. |

Anyone disparaging FF on here has their head up their bunghole.
FF was free, and fast, with no registration required. It was always my goto site when I needed to download anything game related.
Thanks for the free service over the years FileFront. You'll be sorely missed. |

Amazing how stupid some of these so-called "innovators" are.
Sure you may be able to play a stupidly-simple game that doesn't require real-time performance, but who would ever buy a console to do that? You can already do that with a flash player in your browser.
Idiots. |

Well, if it wasn't harder to develop for, it would mean it's the exact same as any 2005 pc like the xbox, and not really offering more hardware wise. I appreciate Sony taking a huge loss to try and give me the best piece of hardware it could as a console at the point in time it did. I also think it's a form of anti piracy which may or may not work. Better does not mean harder to develop for. Duh.
I guess you know better than Gabe Newell and all the other developers who say it's a waste of time.
Oh wait, you don't... |
