Anyone a fan of this show? I'm trying to decide if it's worth picking up. The wife and i have recently gotten into a habit of only renting TV shows on DVD since there's only reruns playing and cable is teh suck. We just discovered the new Battlestar Gallactica and have the first two seasons on their way, but i've been reading some good reviews about The Wire.

It is probably your flux capacitor, its firmware needs updating.

my flux capacitor...i hadn't even thought about that.
problem is, it takes so long to generate the 1.21 jiggawatts to get it running. upgrades are a bitch.

GreaseMonkey renders changes after the page has completely loaded. There are quite a few ad’s on the main page that are well….shit. Not content wise but authoring wise. A lot of them while appear fully loaded are not actually, this keeps GM from rendering changes in scripts. After the page appears loaded but nothing is happening if you hit stop you will see GM magically apply the changes. If you keep the status bar up you can see when the page is not officially fully loaded but is, etc etc
you mentioned this last week when i posted about it a week ago last friday, but even when stopping, the script doesn't run. and most of the time, the stop option is grayed out and doesn't let me stop the load. Do you think that because i've got ad block and flashblock here at work is why i can see it here and not at home? totally uneducated guess, but what the hey...

It is fairly hard for a program to reboot or shutdown XP.
My first guess would be over heating…except you say it can happen in a minute.
It is possible the system just thinks it is over heating even if it is not, could be a heat sensor or it could be the fan speed sensor coming and going. I would check all the fans and heat sinks and make sure they are clean and spinning good. Also check the motherboard manufactures site for BIOS updates and see if any of it addresses and type of power or heating or fan problems.
Another good possibility is the power supply is going bad…not totally bad just under heavy load (make sure its fan is spinning and clear it of dust as well).
On the software side also try reinstalling DirectX again.
It is possible it is software/driver related…but through my personal experience hard reboots and shutdowns is hardware with XP.

we keep one of the covers off most of the time, so it's getting good airflow, but i don't have issues adding a fan or replacing the one on the processor. the power supply is less than a year old, so i can't imagine that this is the problem. we will check the mobo updates.
Does anyone have a good suggestion for updating drivers on dvd drives? i was trying to do that last night and the pc is seeing both of her dvd writers as generic and doesn't give manufacturers.

Let me ask you guys if you have any suggestions with a problem.
My wife and i have been playing Titan Quest since its release and she is suffering the brunt of TQ's technical issues. Constant reboots and shutdowns kick her out of the game, sometimes after less than a minutes to upwards of 45 minutes. There doesn't seem to be any constant in why it's doing this. We've posted on the TQ boards and are awaiting an answer, but I'm looking thru event viewer and trying to update drivers for all software and hardware. Does anyone have any other suggestions for places to look or maybe some piece of software that will analyze her pc and find issues? We'd like to avoid reinstall of the OS (XP) and all software seeing as how we don't know if the issue is hardware or software related.
Any suggestions?

why do you post up here Woody? no one seems to like you and no one cares what you say when you post. attempting to prove Blue wrong about politics on a game site doesn't gain you any friends from Blue or the rest of us. so why do it?
