I played the original B&W and enjoyed it despite the bugginess and sloppiness of the gameplay, but did anyone actually play the second one? Enough to encourage an expansion?

If it's anywhere near the original, it should be pretty great. I've heard the same reviews, but it won't dissuade me from picking it up.

It's going to be in the mid 80s all week here in Dallas. Good riding weather. Spring has been bypassed and we've headed straight into summer. Which is logical, because we had our 10 days of cold weather (sub 40s).

we don't really need another MMO, but i don't doubt that Ensemble could make something really great.

i would just keep an eye on that then. my processor is a prescott model and it gets HOT, so i've got 5 fans. but you may not need that many. i also just noticed on newegg, when you choose a product, right below the item picture is a link labeled 'compatible products', so you may be able to get some ideas from that.

I was told that the HD would run faster that the non stata drive I have now that still uses parallel

sata will run faster than parallel. it's just iffy setting up 2 satas as a "single" drive.

does your case have a thermometer?

i don't think the 6800 has the ability to be set up in SLI, does it? i've got a 6800GT and i don't recall it having the connection strip to set it up in SLI.

Let me ask you about your choices. Specifically, the processor and the HD. Why'd you choose 64 as opposed to 32? and are you planning on setting the HD up in a raid0 config?

here's the reason i ask, and this is based on my research last summer when i built my box and personal experience. I discovered that 64bit processors may do a great job, but there's really not a lot that will run with them. Eventually, software will run at that speed, but the list of 64bit specific apps are still fairly small and any 32bit apps that are patched to run on 64 tend to get hinky. also, i didn't see an amount # next to the HD, but did you order just one or two? that's why i asked about the raid config. i have two sata's that i set up in raid0. it was great until i ended up with a corrupted file and had to wipe 400gig worth of harddrive space. i've since set them up as master and slave drives instead of raid0 as a virtual single drive. and i was warned of this before i bought, but i'm stubborn. i'm not telling you to avoid everything you've chosen, i'm just giving you my personal experiences with them.

i'd also look at a couple more fans to cool that baby down. it's gonna get hot.

I've really enjoyed reading page after page of Creston and his museum of gear and weapons. Very nice collection there. BTW, are you guys not married or employed? When are you finding the time to play? Or are you just foregoing sleep?

I've just recently gotten started and am only at a level 3 and am finding it to take longer to level than most RPGs i've played in the past. I'm not trying to rush it (on the contrary, i'm savoring it), but is there anything specifically that i should look to be doing? I'm picking up random quests, but not finding as many as i thought i would. Also, are you guys staying in one town commpleting quests or just traveling everywhere? I've hit about 5 towns and i seem to be doing a lot of traveling. I hit the second phase of the main quest last night and when i awoke from my nap in the nearly burned down church, i was surprised to find that i'd been turned into a creature of the night. I'm both disturbed and excited about it, but i think i'm to young to be a bloodsucker.

Can you guys offer any suggestions for overall play?

K.rist,
If you head over to newegg.com, they'll list parts and each part has specs for what type of other parts are compatible. If you draw a blank about a part type, say ram, find out what type of ram that mobo uses and then do a search on newegg for that type of ram. and go by reviews for brand type. i've never been steered wrong by reviews and you won't find cheaper parts anywhere else (and quicker delivery). I put together the box i am using now all from parts bought at newegg and i paid a third of what i'd have spent if i went with a prebuilt one from Alienware or Dell. You don't get the customer support by doing it yourself, but i'm just dumb enough to put together my own and keep it running even with problems that may arise.

thanks MeatForce, i'll check out the thread.

And yeah, Fartacus, i'd considered doing that. Immediately following my unfortunate -> poisoning, i ran into the Oblivion gate that was right out front of the church and battled for a bit, but ended up biting the dust long before i could have closed the gate.

The sheer magnitude of the world just amazes me. I'm so used to gathering quests from NPCs with a bright yellow question mark above their head, it's going to take some getting used to finding quests on my own.

Ok, for those of you that are loving this game as much as I, how far into it are you?

I've been watching the big posts over at the official site and Shack and after reading some of the stuff ppl are doing, i don't feel like i've brushed the surface. I've been talking to almost everyone in the towns and am only finding a small handful of quests and am wondering if i'm just missing something. And for those that are working on the main quest:

start secret text here: i found Martin (the heir to the king), took a nap in the church and woke up a vampire. Is anyone aware of a cure for this? it kind of pisses me off.
end secret text

i'm really digging sneaking around ppl's houses and breaking into locked cabinets and selling their stuff to my fence. Has anyone found anything else really cool?

Yeah but your wheels say "Hey Baby call me on ..." so think of all the girls you'll get... oh... right. That sort of stuff is for rappers and other tasteless morons.

i'm waiting for the inevitable lawsuits to arise against the company cause someone was flashing a monster black cock or some chick's tits on the wheels and caused a wreck.

Who is Mike Martinez? I know he supplies Blue with a lot of his information every day, but who is the guy? I did a random search thinking his name would come up, even linking here to BN, but i can't find the guy. Just wondering how he finds all of his info.

edit: oh, and i scored a 16, so i guess i'm normal.
