Hey, I'm not a particularly angry person in the real world. I gotta get out my pent rage somehow. Screaming at trolls helps.

In other news, the Manchurian Candidate was quite good. A great paranoia piece. Nice camera work and great acting, too. A little long. I'm afraid though that with all the other releases this week it will be buried at the box office.

EDIT:

Another thought (secret text):
I thought the ending would have been MUCH more resounding and powerful if they had ended on a down note. Silly Hollywood endings.

I fucking hate you guys. Josh and Halsy shut your fucking faces. Goddamn, you people suck. I'm all for political debates but I'm most certainly against the rancid, unproductive flaming you fucktards spew from vitriol laden lips. Neither one of you have convinced me absolutely ANYTHING. You both sound like you were kicked off your high school debate teams because you started a fist fight with the other team.

I want my fucking moratorium back until you people can learn to be civil.

Fuckin' a.

I thought Kerry's speech was pretty good actually. Some of the best speaking I've seen him do. As Zathrus mentioned, he hit issues head on, which he needs to do more. He needs to be the man with the plan. It wasn't the greatest speech ever but it held my interest and generally was quite good. What people need to realize is that Kerry is a different kind of politician than most. He's steady and thoughtful and will investigate a lot. He's still capable of making split second decisions, as he showed in Vietnam. The more I read about him, the more I like him. He may seem cold or aloof, but he just doesn't have the charisma of a Bill Clinton. He's the strong silent type. I think he'd make a good President.

It's gonna be interesting to see the dynamics after this convention. In every campaign Kerry's run, he's shaky at the beginning but builds steam and takes off in the home stretch. He's showing signs of life, some improvement, so it will be interesting to see if he can widen the gap.

92. Video Card Question Jul 29, 2004, 19:35 Bunko

With all this talk of upgrading, I'm looking at the plain Geforce 6800. I'm curious about a few things though. Is it gonna be able to pull some of the shader effects HL2 has like High Dynamic Range? I know that the 5xxx series of cards couldn't but how do things compare now?

Lose it? I didn't lose it. It's not like, "Whoops! Where'd my job go?" I QUIT.

Batman Begins: Not only that, complicity, but the whole project is directed by Christopher Nolan, the man behind Memento and Insomnia, both of which are great movies. Memento is actually one of my favorites. This one can't miss.

Doom III:

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+
1GB DDR 400 RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
Audigy

I am happy to see that my system performs passably on that Doom III hardware guide. I'm definately not gonna upgrade until I see how things run with nvidia on HL2 and even then it'll be questionable. A nvidia card would be nice to have again. I like my 9800 but it's caused a lot more trouble than my old Geforce 3. I'm looking at getting a vanilla Geforce 6800 but we'll see.

Hopefully STALKER will come out too. Don't know if that's a realistic goal or not, though.

News Comments > No Win98 DOOM 3
11. Re: No subject Jul 27, 2004, 21:43 Bunko

For quite some time, I used only Windows 98 on all my computers. I didn't feel like paying for the upgrades, especially if I had to pay for each disk, in the Win XP model. Plus, I figured, there would be very little benefits.

But when I built my latest computer (a little less than a year ago) I finally upgraded to Windows 2000. And, man, was it good. It's sooo much more stable than 98, I get a little bit more eye candy, some more features and an easier setup. And it's not as bloated as Win XP. So don't be hesitant. Go snap up W2k. It's worth it.

Linux is another option. I have been using Debian as of late but I've kept a Windows partition with 2000 on it for all my games. Of course, with Doom III, you don't even need that Windows partition

I don't care what people say but I genuinely, really like Bill Clinton.

He always manages to captivate me. He's definately not perfect but he's smart, wants to help and is probably the best public speaker I have ever seen. Great speech tonight by him.

It will be interesting to see where we go in this election campaign after the conventions.
