Best Elder Scrolls YET! And by far the most stable and bug free Bethesda release ever lol. I love every aspect about it, the crafting, the landscapes, the spell system, the combat, the uniqueness of each 'dungeon' (even though there aren't remotely as many dungeons as Oblivion, Oblivion's were hyper-generic most of the time.)
Game is fantastic, you can really play it how you like. For example I myself spent about three hours (real time) just hunting in a wide expansive area in the mountains. I came across a camp with a cooking setup and just hung around there hunting and cooking stews and exploring. I loved every second of it!
For those who are complaining about the graphics, check out the FXAA Post Process Injection mod. (Skyrimnexus.com seems to be down atm). I suggest if you get it, use the 'low' setting.. the 2nd option as the first replaces the generally gray look with a blue one. You can turn it on and off with the pause button (it makes night rather dark). But overall it just gives all the textures a depth and detail that you'd expect from a modern game.
Edit: I think there is one very good reason why the PC version of the game sold so well. Mods. Because Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls that saw mass market appeal on consoles. Over the years those players saw just how much the game was improved upon on the PC thanks to modding. Every aspect of Oblivion was made that much better with the mods, and because Oblivion had some serious balance issues (auto-leveled monsters for example) it became a pain in the ass to play at higher levels without said mods.
I mean we all remember in Oblivion being able to kill a goblin at level 2 with three sword swings but by level 30 you still had goblins only by then they were so powerful each fight lasted a full minute and hundreds of individual attacks. Thank's to the great modders on the PC that was no longer the issue.

| I've been rather over minecraft for months and months now. Funny to see a game you played for a year+ just now go gold. |

So WoW is making heavy handed balance changes that will change every class... again. What a surprise.
/sarcasm off
Their inability to balance their game 'years' after release, and their crazy fondness for the nerf stick is largely why I left WoW. I got sick and tired of them completely reworking my fav class (the druid) every six months! |

Few minutes away.. finally. This day has been one of the slowest I've experienced in years.
I have no idea what I'm gonna play, but I often end up going the stealth/bow/low magic route, so that's probably what will happen here. I really like the fact that you don't pick primary skills anymore, and that you just gain points as you use those skills to choose your focus.
I'm decripting now (WOOT!) By all that is holy the game better run right out of the gate. So few games this year have come out that I didn't have significant issues with on day 1.

New animation system must have been used nearly exclusively for the finishing moves, because the a lot of the animations are the same as Oblivion and Fallout 3.
Killing blows remind me of AoC. That was the best part of AoC and there were some really awesome ones I see mirrored here. |

Just watched the Gametrailers review. Graphics were shit and I swear most of them were taken right from Oblivion. I'm so glad PC graphics are better.. and course the modders will have even better ones available within weeks lol.
Damn I feel like a kid again watching the clock tick by so very slowly. These last 7.5 hours are taking FOREVER! |

Watching and reading some of the reviews I see the game has many of the same problems Oblivion had, and some that Morrowind had as well. The melee combat looks sluggish, the animations are identical to Oblivion, the UI is atrocious, the AI just as bad.
But thankfully with full modding support none of those things will be an issue within a few months. |

I got into the beta weekend for SWTOR I'll be able to tell if it's for me I spose, though it'll be hard to judge a game in 2 days.
Funny thing is it starts the same day Skyrim hits. But I spose Skyrim can wait a few days lol. |

| I don't know about ToR but I have a feeling that after Guild Wars 2 I'll have a hard time going back to an MMOG that has quest driven content, a gear treadmill or a holy trinity lol. |

If it happens often enough it certainly could make the game feel more alive. As others have mentioned, Daggerfall had procedurally generated content, to a point.
Of course we've all heard the 'wonders' of the Radiant AI system before Oblvion came out, and we realized it was a bunch of bullshit. So who knows. |

Well it's about time. So 2 million subscriptions lost in under a year, that's pretty bad.
I'm not out to see the game die, but I'm also not someone who defends Blizzards ridiculousness either. |

I'll believe it when I see it. There's got to be a list somewhere of games that were going to kill WoW. EQ2? Aion? Rift? TOR? The list goes on and on.
Most people I know hate Cata. And WoW will die eventually, but no single game will be the cause (other than WoW 2.0). EQ2 came out 'before' WoW, just FYI. I don't think any game will 'kill' WoW, but a solid MMOG could absolutely split their player base. As was said, they've lost millions of players since Cat hit (to the point where they've stopped announcing their subsciption numbers).
Oh and FYI, Cataclysm IS WoW 2.0 |

Of the handful of RL friends I have who still play WoW habitually, every one of them but one was like 'WTF?' when this was announced lol.
The whole 'we have a community that's really excited about what we're doing' is bullshit. Just watch the video of it's announcement. It's the most tepid response I've ever heard at a Blizzcon. Thousands of people crowd the area, and as few as a hundred were cheering, and perhaps more were making exasperated responses, or even booing.
To me this expansion is directly targeted at Asia, the only area where the games subscriber base is still growing. In the west, the game is slowly dying, to the point where Blizz all out refuses to give subscriber numbers anymore. So yea, Pokemon and Kungfu Panda's are for asia.
In the end of course they aren't going to admit this is jumping the shark, but thats exactly what it is. |

I bought the PC version like 2 months ago on Green Man Gaming for $35. Skyrim will most certainly be taking all my gaming time, but when we hit a dry season I'll have a great game waiting to be played. |
