AC: Black Flag is a great game. Once you get past the intro sequence (an hour) you can spend as much time as you want raiding at sea. Eventually though you'll want to come to shore and work on missions as you come across larger targets like Frigates, Convoys, Man-o-Wars and Legendary Ships which will rip you to shreds without some serious upgrades. Thankfully the upgrades require money and resources (and blueprints) you often find by exploring the sea, underwater, various islands for treasure maps, and raiding ships for resources and men. There are ship cosmetic upgrades to customize it in a lot of ways too.

I'd say Black Flag is my 2nd favorite AC game, after AC2 which I loved because Enzio is the best AC char and it was very fun exploring Renaissance Italy in all it's glory and crushing foes with all those medieval weapons. Brotherhood has the same setting and is a strait follow-up to AC2 so that's up there on the list as well.

Batman Origins is solid. It's not as tight as the original two but it's in the same vein and playable. I have no experience with Black List.

Edit: Oh hey with Black Flag I've found one really annoying problem. When you start taking down naval forts - which isn't that hard - they'll open up a Naval Contract that leads to a ship battle. Check online before you accept them because they can be very difficult and if you pick one up you cannot complete you cant do anything else accept load into a city which removes the mission. A 'lot' of people (myself included) accepted Naval Contract 07 without a moderately upgraded ship and were ripped to shreds by the 4 lvl 27 Frigates you have to fight.

The problem with X Rebirth isn't bugs.. it's the game itself. This 'review' is very accurate. It's a shell of a game, a shell of a game. I feel bad for anyone who actually bought it. It's Battleship 3000ad all over again. I half expect steam to open the game up for refunds any day now. Compared to some of the amazing X games of the past, it is a travesty of a game.

I gotta say the game is shaping up. I love that it's a sandbox that you can actively affect and change. As awesome as Skyrim is, it's also a very static experience without mods.

It appears that Bioware is putting enough time, money and talent into this this game to help recover their failing reputation. At least thats what I hope. DA1 is perhaps my favorite RPG of all time. Yea it's generic but the combat was tactical and brutal, the lore was bar none the deepest of any original IP from Bioware (even the ME series doesn't match it). DA2 had a slightly more original story but we all know how bad it was as a game otherwise.

Winter 2014? I can wait and I have my fingers crossed there's as much love and talent behind this as DA1.

Can't you also build an armada of followers? I don't mind flying just one ship if it's highly upgradable and I can send minions out to trade, mine, fight, etc.

Using a modern engine in a point & click adventure game isn't really that new. Essentially every Telltale Game works this way. Though mind they are 3rd person.

I'm fairly intrigued. I enjoyed my fair share of point and click adventures over the years. This could be quite interesting.

The first article isn't about # sold or $ made, it's about retailers dressing up and making interesting displays with the game.

As to sales, I'd expect them to be similar here as the UK. But then again #1 on Steam last weak might say otherwise. I hope those plebs enjoy their shitty console port.

You realize Taskeen, that such a project would take 4, 7 and 12 years to complete. We are talking about Blizzard here.

I don't want that personally because the people who made those great games are largely long gone from Blizz. I wouldn't trust the current group of them to recreate the magic of the original 3 Warcraft games.

I guess we have very different ideas about what constitutes "frequent", particularly as it applies to when one pays a monthly fee for a service.

This right here is one of the largest factors in my decision to quit the game about a year after Northrend came out. Paying a monthly fee in addition to expansion packs for what amounted to one or two content releases a year was not enough. That I also spent 75% of my time sitting around in a city waiting to be slotted in a dungeon group or waiting for a raid to start and the other 25% doing the same 50 quests day in, day out I just didn't feel I was getting my money's worth. Well, that and the constant class balance changes that never seemed to settle.

Now that I've been playing GW2 for a bit over a year and enjoy content releases multiple times a month and still pay no subscription fee and don't get 90% of content via expansions I have to pay for.. I couldn't be happier. Especially since said content has been increasing in quality every new content cycle and thankfully most of it is permanent or at the least around for solid month so I can complete it lol.

29. Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts Matchmaking Workaround Nov 6, 2013, 14:26 Fion
You know last time a Battlefield and Call of Duty game came out around the same time, I chose Battlefield 3 and regretted it pretty quickly. This time around i still went with the Battlefield game with BF4 and can I just say... I don't think I've ever chosen more correctly. BF4 is a beautiful game with amazing level design, superb graphics and tactical play. I've only watched someone else play Ghosts, (and watched TB's review), but I am very happy I avoided it.

I agree as well, FEAR 1 was the pinnacle of shooter AI. Sad that even that game sequels didn't have AI that good lol.

Got some laughs out of that clip. Professor Chaos ftw! Still have the game on my wishlist, I can wait if that means a better game in the end.

Her story only just begun. In story telling, the point where Clem is as a character right now would be the beginning of the main arc. Everything before that was prologue and character building.

Character building is what The Walking Dead completely forgot in the newest season by the way. Introducing characters is apparently not "in" anymore. I have no idea who half the people are that walk(ed) around there.

Wait, Walking Dead has character building? I wonder why I've never noticed it. All I ever see when I watch it is a mix of decent to bad acting, soap-opera level writing, boring plots with obvious endings and the worst translation of characters from page to screen I think I've ever seen.

To be frank, the comics are just so much better in nearly every way that, while everyone in the house (old enough to watch) loves the show, I see nothing but how much worse it is than the comic series.

Edit: On topic, cant wait to play Clem! I totally agree the first season is mostly an introduction. Clem is obviously the center of the story and I'd have been amazed if she wasn't the central character of at least the upcoming season. If/when she dies I'm going to be so busted up.

Didn't you know? In America a 'free market' is one were we don't get to say what they can and cant do, and that includes forming monopolistic agreements within their industry. It's why you only have one choice for cable, internet (if you want broadband anyway), electricity, fuel and... well pretty much anything you can think of. Any time a local, state or federal government says 'hey you cant do that, it's unfair', it's socialism. Not that anyone ever says that because they've long since been bought off.

Edit: The 'high' numbers they list is cheap were I'm at. I'd love to pay only $90 for good broadband, hdtv and phone. I used to pay $180 a month for that stuff though Time Warner Cable. I suspect the listed numbers are the '6 month special offers'.

I personally shut down my home phone, get my tv online but I still pay $80 a month for 30/1 broadband.

The combat in Wolf Among Us is a bit more updated and thus a bit more fun but really Walking Dead S1 is less about the combat and more about the story and in that it is amazing. So enjoy.

I did recently grabbed D3 on the consoles, and it's a whole helluva lot better than PC, though. I've played it considerably more than GTA 5, even.

I'd be interested to know how the game improved in it's conversion. Not that I plan on buying the console version, but it may hint to changes that come with the expansion.

Creston wrote on Oct 21, 2013, 11:03:
Playing Arkham Asylum now, and I'm kind of surprised it scored as highly on metacritic, and has so many fans as it does. It's a good game, but the combat is WAYYY too floaty, the animation is off, the large majority of the game you're running past puzzles and areas because you basically can't enter them yet, forcing you to go through all those areas again once you get the gizmo that can open them, I've just gone through the exact same gameplay gimmick (follow alcohol breath, follow tobacco breath) twice in a row, and detective mode is ridiculously overpowered, yet without it you wind up getting ganked pretty quickly by armed guards.

I'm probably just going to finish the story and never even bother going back for all those doors and shit that I couldn't open.

Is Arkham City better?

While still following the same formula, Arkham City is 'tighter'. You still have plenty of trails to follow, ducts to crawl through and seemingly pointless puzzles that are only there to give you a reason to use x gadget. Now I'm starting to sound like I disliked the two games, but I really enjoyed them because while the series is extremely formulaic, the boss fights are lots of fun, the level design is often fantastic and they have the best voice actors to ever voice these iconic characters.

I agree with you on the stuff you cant complete until further in the story. It's even worse in Arkham City because you have other characters to play who have their own puzzles and unlocked items. This is a form of content I've seen more and more in the last few years across a broad spectrum of genres and I gotta say I cannot stand it. Thankfully, it's almost always pointless filler content that is in no way required to complete the story.

I've already pre-purchased Origins thanks to a nice GMG price. I enjoyed Asylum and found City really quite good, and while all 3 appear to feature the same formula, that formula is solid and fun so I don't mind. That said, I'd love if the studio would switch to another super after Origins.

I've only played them demo but that was hilarious. One of the best demos in ages because it showed absolutely none of the actual game but did a completely thorough job of introducing you to the game.

I've been watching some gameplay on Twitch and laughing just as hard. It looks really awesome. If my gaming funds hadn't already been used this month I'd pick it up in a heart beat. Guess I'll have to wait a bit and try and resist spoiling the game via Twitch.

Nice to see Wolf Amongst Us in the top ten. First episode ends with a bang that leaves you spinning and it's really quite faithful to Fables. I very much enjoyed it.

Yea it's 2 with the fucked up ending. Was highly enjoyable until the last hour or so when it became a slog through waves of the same 5 enemies over and over ending with a boring and easy boss and then nothing. Clear sign they ran out of time.

I gotta say I'm impressed. I still don't see it replacing a keyboard and mouse for more complex games that require lots of hotkeys to play efficiently but for what was in the demo really impressed me. The controller looks comfortable and highly customizable. The trackpad actually seems to do first person movement dramatically better than an analog stick. Funny that it took a PC gaming company to bring the first true controller innovation since the invention of said analog stick nearly 20 years ago.

I personally want the system more so I can easily stream movies & TV from my computer to my TV, but also the potential future purchase of an Occulus Rift. After watching this however, I can see myself playing Civ 5 on my big screen for fun.
