16. Re: GTA4 PC Patch Issues Dec 13, 2008, 17:22 Marvin T. Martian

That was maybe funny the first 2 times considering that same clip has been used for about 20 different games.

Many haven't seen it and who cares--the Rant is true no matter how many times the vid has been used.

I wanted this game so much, but after the 1st reports on just how F'd up it was, I figured I'd wait until a patch came out--well, the game is still FUBAR-I've written this one off-another lost sale Rockstar!!!!
As others have already said--TRAINWRECK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weird. I loved GRAW (except for the annoying save point system used), and am having a blast with RB Six: Vegas 1 & 2.

To each their own I guess.

You obviously never played the original games and have no clue as to just how dumbed down and consoled the games are now.

8. Re: Retail PoP DRM-Free Dec 11, 2008, 20:26 Marvin T. Martian

It really doesn't matter about the DRM, the real problem is as some other posts have mentioned--UBI ruins the franchise--I was a dedicated Ghost Recon player--Ubi released Graw 1&2--POS--riuned the franchise!
Ditto with Raven Shield--great game--Ubi got it released Lockdown and the Vegas series--POS console ports that completely ruined the genre.
Heck even a new series like- Blasing Angels 1&2--the Crimson Skies Community were dieing for a a replacement game--another consololitus POS from UBI that shouldn't have seen the light of day on the PC. No UBI it isn't your intrusive DRM--it's the quality of the game and the support--virtually nonexistant. So POP will succeed if it is a good quality game--but it appears the PC community won't get the content available for consoles (one nail) and if the game sucks (most likely based on UBI's PC track record)--2 nails, no PC demo-3 nails but the blame will be placed soley on the pirates when the problem is their games.

" I don't see anything but a line across the screen on that site. Anyone else? I'm using FF"

Yep--same problem until I disabled adblock on the site.
I was going to check this game out because of the use of a resonable DRM scheme, but having to disable adblock on their site has turned my Danger Will Robinson radar back on.

Butcher Bay--One of the better SP games ever! I will watching for this one!

BTW Shataan, each to there own, but you are part of a very very very small minority with regards to your opinion of the game

Yep, I will have to skip this one. I wanted to BUY IT and try it on the PC, but not now. What is this Rockstar club and why do I need it to play? ditto for games for windows. I should be able to activate then put the disk away. I will likely look into other means of trying this game out.

" I just started a new job so I am staying away from good titles until I get into the stage where I can afford to slack off."

Well this won't be on your list then, besides the DRM and account restictions, it just isn't a good game!!

The DRM is the "root" cause of the problems with the patch.
A game best to be avoided.

Just another suit shovelling BS.
EA couldn't give a rat's ass about quality, their programmers and ,least of all, the comsumer.

EA, Ubi or whoever--the suits say, it meets the deadline regardless of the quality and bugs, release it!

Simple, like some other demos--add a time limit.

1hr, 2hrs--whatever--of play then it ends.

Heck a 12 hr demo would be longer than most of the recent crop of sp games like COD4, Vegas etc.

@Dagot

"You're a moron" Nice!!!

obviously you forgot your daily dose of the old Rit.

I never mentioned GTA--but when your thoughts hop all over the place because of your ADH it's kind of hard to make any sense of your rant.
The game was a welcome change-regardless of it's flaws, because it was different.
I played it through many times from release date and after all it's patches. There are many more games with many more flaws and they still sold well--just look at that unfinished spam fest called BF2. My point was simple --the console crowd just couldn't play it because of their limited attention span and they just couldn't jump into the game online, run and gun then move on. The same mindset/group wouldn't care for Oblivion either ( oh wait, it had flaws too--so I guess I shouldn't mention because of your critical eye.)

Bring on Clear sky--can't wait.

The Ritalin generation just can't grasp and appreciate an well thought out, slow paced, thinking SP game. It you can't bunny hop and 'nade spam-in MP--they just aren't interested.
