Like the look of this one. I played the GK games and loved them, apart from GK2 where they changed it to live action and replaced Tim Curry with a porn star caliber actor. And GK3 had some truly absurd puzzles, as highlighted on old man murray http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/78.html
The plots were always entertaining, however. |

| Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. But I do think it's neat that you can follow every step of development, should you wish, and how the devs and community bandy ideas about. |

This makes me want to rev up Thief again, haven't played a fan mission in about a year. The last one I completed was Rose Cottage, a haunted house style mission, which was sublime.
Many of these fan created missions have a much more intricate design than the original Thief levels, and are certainly more sophisticated than most games we are used to now. It would be great if these people could get their hands on the source code and further enhance the game.
Just make sure that if you only play one FM, play Broken Triad. It's got Cthulhu in it! |

Looking forward to getting back to the wasteland. I'm currently in gaming limbo now that I've finished Amnesia, and I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms. Hopefully I'll last out these 3 weeks |

Did anyone play the fan made Broken Sword 2.5? It was released in German a couple of years ago, with an English text only translation coming out later.
Started playing it and it looked pretty decent. Didn't feel quite right with everyone speaking German, so thought I'd put off until the English voice version comes out, if it does, that is |

Looking like a great game, but there are a few things that rankle me.
For us poor souls that prefer first person driving: you can't look around you, which makes pulling out on junctions pretty hit and miss. And the bonnet pops up all the time like in gta4, but unlike in gta4 when you break, it doesn't slam shut again.
Also, the crosshair is gigantic and could do with being about half the size. |

Yeah it was a very good game. AI could be a bit dodgy, but it always is when you have to lead a team. I loved the mission where you had to scuba dive into the fort boyard-esque place and take out the artillery battery. Haven't played it in years actually. Might have to give it a whirl while I'm waiting for Mafia II |

I don't know about that. It was pretty innovative. At the time fps games were just about charging around killing monsters. In Goldeneye you were actually up against humans and could sneak around them if you wanted, going for silent kills and avoid tripping alarms. It predates even Thief for stealth mechanics. The objectives were pretty varied and could be done in a different order and weren't just key hunts like quake2 or whatever else was out at the time. Plus it had outdoor areas, which was something you didn't really see in fps games either. |

Hope it will be out on PC. I've enjoyed playing the three recent iterations, even Underworld, with it's dodgy motorbike controls.
Funny, in Underworld you have the option to pick a Tranquillizer Dartgun instead of the usual array of shotties, smgs etc. So you can theoretically just KO all the precious endangered species, letting them wake up with you long gone. Trouble is you only had about 10 darts for it and a tiger took most of these to take down. And then 10 secs later woke up again just as pissed off with you, maybe more so.
Needless to say after that little realisation I ditched the hippy approach, tooled myself up, and went to war with those furry little fuckfaces |
