I saw the HP touchpad news on a deal site last night right before going to bed, and everywhere that offered them was already sold out. What I want to know is can you run a different OS on these since HP is ditching WebOS. If not, it's not worth $100.

The DLC needed GFWL from what I remember. Yeah you could do a "workaround" by copying the files, but if you went the proper way, it needed it.

You only needed GFWL to buy the DLC (until it was released on disk and the GOTY edition). There was no DRM in the DLC, so you could backup and re-install the files without using GFWL ever again.

I have too many unfinished/unplayed games because I have too damn many of them. Steam isn't helping with their $5-$10 sales. Then I went in with a friend and bought Minecraft over the weekend with the 2-for-1 sale, and have played nothing but Minecraft since then. Who'd have though such a simple game could be so damn addicting. It's worse than Civilization's "one more turn" syndrome, now it's "as soon as I finish this I'll qui... oooh what's that!"

Mozilla's products have gone to shit since they're new version number scheme. What really pushed my button was Thunderbird going from 3.6.x to 5.0 and the shitty Aero theme the put on it. There were so many threads on their support forum about not being able to see shit because it made the menus and buttons transparent. Finally someone put out a new theme that disabled the Aero transparency and made it look like 3.6.

Now Firefox and Thunderbird 6.0 come out today, Thunderbird's default theme still looks like transparent ass, and after upgrading to Firefox 6 I have several addons that don't work (just like when they went from 4.0 to 5.0). If I'm going to have to go through this shit every update, I'm going to start looking for a new browser and email client.

Both Fallouts were EXCELLENT games, but my hand tips towards New Vegas, overall it was just a better game. I'm playing a new character right now...4th time through..lol.
New Vegas is a better game, but I still think Fallout 3 has a better environment. I wish we could import Fallout 3 into the NV engine and play it in hardcore mode. I've got mods that give a hardcore like experience, but I like the way NV did it (with some tweaks).

I haven't lost a game to the AI in an offline skirmish even when I was a noob. I have lost some on the campaign. I finally got the balls to play a MP game. It started Thursday, and I managed to win without losing a guy. It's game 90569 on the Texas server.

NewEgg has Skyrim pre-order for all platforms for $47.99 until Aug. 15 [link]. I've already pre-ordered from Amazon with release day delivery. Just in case Amazon doesn't match the price, I may pre-order from both and cancel the most expensive one before it releases. It sucks that NewEgg doesn't offer release day delivery.

People think the AI cheat? I find it too easy to beat. I've tried turning up the AI, but it causes the game to crash. I wish they would fix that.

I've had my eye on this since I first heard about it. It seems like new MP games haven't been doing well, so I'm a bit worried it will bomb. I hope they put out a demo before launch.

I haven't tried a MP game yet myself. Is everyone running the Steam version or the stand alone version? I bought it from the Frozen Synapse site, so I'm using the stand alone version, but I did activate my key on Steam too. Are there any differences other than the achievements? Does it allow challenging through the Steam friends?

My Frozen Synapse name is the same as here if anyone wants to play. I haven't played in a while, and only played the SP campaign. I'm on the Dallas server btw.

While they don't give you a gift card or anything, Best Buy will take old computer and electronics for recycling. I've ditched a few old computers and a broken CRT there.

THe website is in an non English language, is thepatch in ENglish?

Weird, the URL in Jerykk's post goes to the English page, but when I replied, the URL got mangled so it goes to the non English page.

I don't know why they don't post the patch on the NVNexus. Most of the mods used in the compilation patch come from the NVNexus. There is another community bugfix patch compilation there, but it hasn't been updated in 5 months.

The last patch has fixed most of the quest and location bugs, but there are still pretty major bugs like Boone still not working, the Gomorrah casino not giving companion weapons back. I played another game of Fallout 3 GOTY while waiting, but I haven't gone back to my New Vegas game because I'm currently playing other things.

If you haven't been using the unofficial patch, you really should: http://www.ravenmodding.terminal47.net/?p=768>lang=en

On a side note, the Old World Blues DLC for FNV has been getting surprisingly good reviews and is only $5 today on Steam.
I know about the unofficial patch, I made a fix for the Gomorrah weapon stealing script which is included in that patch.

I was tempted to buy the DLC during the last sale (weren't they 66% off then?), but I'm holding off for now. I want to finish the base game first before I slap on the DLC, and maybe by then they'll all be sold as a bundle for cheaper.

I can't believe Fallout New Vegas' regular price is now $19.99 ($9.99 on sale today), less than a year after release. I pre-ordered it and played it from day one until the 1.2.0.3 patch broke it. I have put in over 200 hours and still haven't finished a game. A lot of that is time was spent catching up after I was doing a quest that took me into a place known (to everyone but me) to cause corrupt saves and other quest bugs that caused me to have to go back to a save from before I started them. Some of it is due to playing out quests in different ways just to see the outcome (but I force myself to stick with my original decision).

This has me thinking of canceling my pre-order (at Amazon) of Skyrim and waiting for it to hit $20 in 6-10 months and/or after they release all of the horse armor DLC. It seems like a win-win situation since by then it will be patched and mods will be matured, and I can catch up on some more games I've bought on sale that I haven't played yet.

Okay, so why don't GWFL games have the same problem when they sell DLC through GFW store? I have to call bullshit on this one.
That was my though as well. Fallout 3 and GTA 4 both sold on Steam with DLC being sold through GFWL, although now you can buy the DLC for both of those games through Steam. I bet the only way to buy DLC for BF3 will be through Origin, so that's probably where the conflict with Steam is.

OK, I'll admit the end-result was the guy was probably messing with some low radiation stuff and the chances for anything catastrophic were probably low.

But unless he lived out in the sticks and was far-far away from anyone, how could he NOT think that maybe it wasn't allowed.

Considering it sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing the chance for contamination was probably pretty high. Which means the neighbors could've been exposed (directly, via the water table, etc).

Back in 1994 a 17 year old kid attempted to build a reactor in a shed in his back yard, which resulted in the NRC dismantling the shed and digging up the back yard to be shipped off for storage.

I used to go and delete the "redist" directories that contains the DX and other redistributable crap that is installed on a games first run. It cleans up a lot of HD space, but then if the game is patched or something triggers Steam to check the game files, it sees that they are missing and re-download them every time. Now I leave them alone, it's easier to lose some HD space than waste time watching Steam re-download the crap.

Just out of curiosity, I just searched my Steam directory for "redist" and there is 2.5GB of wasted space used by these installers that aren't needed.
