You can indefinitely activate your copy of the game on the same PC. You start with three activations (so, three different PC hardware configurations) to begin with. After one month, one activation will be re-credited (up to a maximum of three available activations at any given time). If you change your hardware out a lot or roam around on a bunch of different PC's then this could be a problem for you.
What seems to be the biggest issue of contention about the sim is that it uses Steamworks and is tethered to Steam. Many polls on the official forum asking if Steam should be removed from the game etc ;P If it uses Steamworks, then why the fuck do they need to slap on another DRM scheme to limit activations? This just went on my "wait and see" list. I could go live with one or the other, but both? Besides, IL2-1946 still has plenty of life left in it. |

Haven't seen it mentioned, but Steam has Crazy Machines Everything Pack for $23.99 USD. Don't be confused by the Crazy Machines 2 Complete on sale, which is $29.99 USD, but only includes Crazy Machines 2 and its DLC.
I don't know how long the sale is on, but you might want to wait as something is wrong with the transaction. I bought the Everything Pack, but did not receive CM 1.5. Others on the forum say they bought the Everything Pack and did not get CM 1 or 1.5. My receipt is titled "Crazy Machines Complete" but has the price of the Everything Pack. |

Revisiting 'Firefly' |

I didn't see it when it originally aired because we didn't get the channel it was on. Years later it was aired on SciFi (before they changed to SyFy), so I did get to see it.
I bought it on Blu-ray a while back, but haven't gotten around to watching it. So I had to start watching it last night. The episodes on the Blu-ray are arranged in the originally intended order. As it turns out, they aired it in the originally intended order on SciFi too. I looked up the order they were originally broadcast, and I don't understand why they chose to air them out of order like that. The episode that aired as the pilot wouldn't have made much since to me. I just hope they fired the fucktards that made the decision to re-order the episodes and cancel the series. |

| I have a WD green 2TB in my HTPC. It's no slouch in performance either. It's only a few MB/sec slower than my WD 1TB Black. |

Rockn-Roll wrote on Mar 6, 2011, 12:19: Wow...Steam is going to have better security than online banking. One of my banks already does something like this. When you log in, it asks if you want to add "enhanced security" to the PC you're using. If you chose yes, from then on when you log into the site, you only need your username ad password. If you try log in from another computer, you will need to either have it send an email code to you, call you with an automated voice that gives you the code or have it text your cell phone. You need that code and your username and password to log in. After entering it and successfully logging in you have the option to add the "enhanced security" to that system or just use it as a one time log in pass.
I believe it's just a browser cookie or a profile stored in their system though. The cookie expires or it forgets my system from time to time and I have to go through the process to log in. |

| Why don't they implement adding a phone or cell phone as an added password recovery like Gmail does? You can either receive a text message or an automated phone call with a code to reset your account if it's compromised. |

PHJF wrote on Feb 25, 2011, 13:59: So yesterday morning I get an email saying an account was registered at newegg to something resembling my email address (I have periods in my address, the newegg one registered without periods), and somebody from Washington ordered something. So I tell a Newegg rep that some douche made an account linked to my email (and I already HAVE a newegg account which uses my email). They say don't worry about it.
Last night before I went to bed, gmail told me my password was wrong. I put it in again... wrong password. At this point I'm pretty fucking livid. I only use my primary gmail account for reputable websites, I've never checked my mail anywhere except at MY computer, and nobody has access to my computer but me. And gmail won't let me reset the password because I don't have access to the email account from which I registered the gmail account like three years back.
What the FUCK. Damn, that sucks. I have a similar problem with my gmail account. I use myfirstname.mylastname@gmail.com, and some idiot keeps registering at sites with myfirstnamemylastname@gmail.com (no dot). Then one time while out of town I checked my gmail address using the hotel's wifi. The next day I couldn't log in because it said the password was incorrect. Luckily I still had access to the recovery email address which I quit using years ago, so I was able to reset it. After that I put my cell phone number as the password recovery. |

A51Abductee wrote on Feb 18, 2011, 14:32: On a related note, Civ V is on sale this weekend on Steam for 40% off ($30 US), for the 20th anniversary of the Civ franchise. I was waiting for a sale and am happy to see this.
Guess there goes the weekend. I saw the sale this morning, but I can't decide if I should pick it up at this price or wait for the game to be "finished." One thing holding me back is the number of games I've bought on sale and haven't gotten to. The other are the mixed "reviews" I read about.
I still see a lot of complaints on forums about Civ V, but I don't know if I should take them all serious. I know a lot of things have changed, and some people bitch about that. Some people still rant about Civ IV being better. I have Civ IV, and honestly I didn't like it as much as I liked Civ III. The AI in IV seemed too pacifist. In the many games I played in Civ IV, I still have more fond memories of games I played in Civ III, and I've played Civ since the first Civ. |

Watson lifts 'Jeopardy' to four-year high. |

I'm surprised Jeopardy is still around. Like most game shows, they become stale and boring after a while. The only other game shows I can name that have been running a long time besides Jeopardy are The Price's Right and Family Feud. Considering the average TV viewer, I wouldn't think Jeopardy would have survived this long.
I just don't like the gimmicky the answer is the question thing. I don't watch it, but the few times I have in the past, I've seen contestants give the right "answer" but not get it "right" because they didn't phrase it as a question. Take the "question" Watson got wrong in the "IBM's Watson fails third-grade geography test" article for example. The "answer" was: "Its largest airport was named for a World War II hero; its second largest, for a World War II battle." The correct "answer" is Chicago, but contestants have to say "What is Chicago?" Reverse the situation, if you ask anybody "What is Chicago?" They'll probably answer you with something like "a city in Illinois." I bet if you could ask every person on the planet "What is Chicago" no one would answer with some trivia like "Its largest airport was named for a World War II hero; its second largest, for a World War II battle."
Why not ditch the gimmick of phrasing your answer as a question bull shit? |

Ruffiana wrote on Feb 15, 2011, 16:57: I'd like to be able to sell my movie tickets when I'm done with them as well...but those fuckers always rip them in half. The only sensible movie analogy you could make is buying a DVD at full price that you can never resell, lend, or give away. Which would rightly piss off any customer.
If you want to compare it to a movie ticket, I guess tokens at an arcade are the closest analogy. Game sales are their first point of sale. Movie theaters and the box office are a movie's first point of sale. If you really want to compare DVD sales to the sales of games, then you would need to be in a world where movie theaters, pay-per-view, premium movie channels, package deals with networks, and the many other ways of monetizing a film before it is every packaged up on a shiny plastic disc and offered directly to customers did not exist...just as they do not exist for games.
Don't confuse the distribution method and physical media being similiar for being the exact same kind of product and needing the same kind of revenue from sales. Comparing a movie in a theater to a game is not comparing apples to apples. When you go to a theater you're not buying a product, you're not even paying for the movie. You're paying the theater to use their services (watching the movie on their screen). The theater pays a fee to show the film, which they make up for by selling tickets.
Comparing a game to a DVD is a better comparison. When you buy a DVD, you're buying the physical media and a license to watch it privately in your home. When you buy a game in a store, you're paying for the physical media (box, disk, manuals etc.) and a license to play the game. Why is it OK for people to sell used DVDs, but not video games? |
