I've used a similar system for passwords that I need to remember and type regularly, for everything else I use Password Safe and generate a different random password for every site. |

| NewEgg just shipped my pre-order from Memphis, TN, which means it will be here tomorrow, but I won't be home until Sunday night. I didn't think it would arrive until Monday. I think I'm going to stay off the internet until I get home. |

theyarecomingforyou wrote on Nov 9, 2011, 03:47: But it is strange that the US is one of the only countries to use MM/DD/YYYY, when DD/MM/YYYY is much more logical. YYYY/MM/DD is also effective but de-emphasises the day and prioritises the year. I know it's something that developed over time but it still seems pretty retarded on the surface. Year-Month-Day still makes more logical sense. Think of it like a way of sorting time. When you sort things, you put smaller things into bigger things, and when you recall where you put something you remember the largest thing first and work smaller. When you file something, you put it into folder in a drawer of a file cabinet. The file cabinet would be the year, the drawer the month and the folder the day. When you recall in your head where you filed something, you first remember the file cabinet it's in, then the drawer then the file.
When I'm looking for a picture, I can almost always remember the year it was taken and usually the month, so I want to see that first. I've never remembered the day I took a photo and not the month or year, so showing the day first doesn't make any sense. |

| Who the fuck is in charge of Thunderbird's appearance? It has gotten uglier every release since this new release schedule. I use an add-on to disable the ugly ass Aero transparency, but now they've re-arranged the buttons on the message window, pushing them to the left and throwing the subject, to and from headers out of whack. |

Argh shite I used logic again! xD I prefer Year-Month-Day myself. It makes more logical since than the other two, especially with computers. I use YYYY-MM-DD on file names and folders so that they are sorted correctly and make stuff easier to find when sorted by name. |

Donkey_Punch wrote on Nov 7, 2011, 12:00: Anyone remember how in the early days of the beta the Minecraft website said that when the game was finished they would release the source code for free to the community? Once they saw how much this game was a license to print money that promise quietly disappeared from the website.
Considering they were already selling the game at the time isn't that illegal? Umm, it's still there:I plan on developing Minecraft until it's a finished complete game, with a downloadable client (with fullscreen mode), custom key re mappings and possibly modding support.
For as long as people enjoy and purchase the game, I will develop extensions after the game is done.
Once sales start dying and a minimum time has passed, I will release the game source code as some kind of open source. I'm not very happy with the draconian nature of (L)GPL, nor do I believe the other licenses have much merit other than to boost the egos of the original authors, so I might just possibly release it all as public domain. |

| I thought the final version was still a way off. So I guess there won't be a beta 1.9. I've had a lot of fun with it in MP with a couple of friends. We started over when 1.8 came out because of the changes, then sort of fell out of it. We didn't want to get too far along and have to start over again when a new version came out. |

They were definitely hacked. They used the forums to send spam too. I received this at the email address I registered on the forums with, which is different from my Steam account address. Here's the email, with headers (with email addresses and links removed):

| I will be out of town next week until Sunday night and I ordered from NewEgg for $47, so it probably won't be here until Monday if it ships from Memphis or Tuesday if it ships from CA. I'll have my netbook with me to check news and shit, so please use spoiler tags. |

That reminds me, I need to cancel one of my pre-orders. I pre-ordered it from Amazon a long time ago, with pre-order price guarantee, but as far as I know the price has not dropped below the $59.54 it was when I placed the order. I also pre-ordered it from NewEgg for $47 when their deal came up, and sent an email to Amazon to see if they would price match. I never received a reply.
I don't know if there is a way to tell what the final price will be with Amazon's pre-order price guarantee before it ships. It says on the page about the price guarantee that your order summary will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of a price change, but in the past I was never notified of a price drop until my order shipped when I got an email telling me I saved $XX with pre-order price guarantee. As of now, it still shows $59.54 on my order summary.
I do get free release day delivery with Amazon vs. 3-day UPS with NewEgg, but it won't matter to me. I'll be out of town next week and not returning home until late next Sunday, so I won't be home to get the package on the 11th anyway. |

I really wish I had waited on this. I bought FNV on release, the collectors edition too, but I haven't even finished the game. I love the game, it has great atmosphere and depth, but I was put off by early bugs and bugs introduced in patches (some of which still haven't been fixed). I decided to "shelf" it it and play other stuff until was fixed. They have stomped out a lot of the bugs, but there are still some really bad bugs still present (Boone, casino's not returning weapons to companions). Thankfully the PC version is modable, and the community has fixed a lot of them (I have even contributed a couple of bug fixes myself).
I got too tied up playing other things and just recently picked up where I left off using the community bug fix patch. I do want the DLC, but I'm not buying the game at full price again to get it. I hope they either sell this at $20-$30 or offer the DLC as a bundle for $20. |

The last thing I bought was a $200 TV/entertainment system table on clearance for $79. A couple of years ago bought the monitor I'm still using there. It was cheaper to buy it there and pay tax than to buy it online, plus I could return it if it had dead pixels, which it didn't.
They do have a recycling drop off which I've taken old computers and stuff to. |
