Could someone breakdown chivalry for me? Is it just a multiplayer flavor of mount and blade's combat or what? No, the melee is more fluid and precise than the wild flailing offered by M&B. And it isn't trying to be a sim. |

We think we're so smart and tough, and all it takes it some wind and rain to remind us how fragile we are. No, more like how awful our housing and infrastructure are. |

| Wouldn't call a peak of 6700 concurrent the weekend of a release a raging success, especially considering the amount of work/time that has been put into NS2. I've managed 20+ hours since launch so I'm certainly doing my part. |

I don't know what you define as "properly", but I enjoyed Star Trek Online, Lord of the Rings Online, and a few others just fine ... retail games that ultimately failed and had to go F2P to survive. Different when a game is built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind. |

Where NFS: Most Wanted is a thinly veiled Burnout Paradise 2 Um.... that sounds fucking awesome. Shame about the EA thing, though. |

Dunno what you talkin about, I ran an archer with Dawnguard (crossbows do insane damage). Dawnguard also adds a few incredibly powerful standard bows.
Arching is insanely boring, though, in true elder scrolls fashion. Mages can throw fire and ice and summon shit, melee characters can block and power attack and whatnot, and archers can... zoom in. Wow. |

As an aficionado of both popcorn movies and Doom itself, I can say with absolute certainty Doom was a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible movie. Not quite Uwe Boll, but close enough as makes no matter.
If you want a good "popcorn" movie involving Dwayne Johnson, watch Faster or The Rundown. Doom ain't it.

| As I broke fast this morning I thought maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't rain for a while. Then as I readied myself to finally pick up tree debris from the yard... it began raining. |

At least according to that blurb it will actually involve a castle named Wolfenstein and Nazis. It's already 10000% more faithful than Doom was.
All that remains to be seen is if the American will be named Blazkowicz. |

There is a "training mode" but being a veteran I'd no reason to try it.
As with all things, best to dive in and pick it up as you go. Just don't command until you've figured out everything (which will take hours). Use a mic and ask questions if you don't know how something works.
If anything, being an NS vet put me at a disadvantage. While the marines play much as they did, aliens are totally different. |

Really, speak for yourself. Pretty sure I just did???
That which is unknown is scariest (see Alien the first). Amnesia was best when monsters were teased, not when they were thrown in your face, which was what the latter half of the game amounted to. The sewers (really? SEWERS IN A VIDEO GAME, HOW NOVEL) were dreadful and the cathedral was just a boring bout of running back and forth that lacked any pacing whatsoever. |

I'm really not liking aliens having a commander. I never have resources, I never have upgrades, there's never chambers around, abilities like spore and leap have to be fuckin RESEARCHED now...
Used to be you could do very well playing skulk/lerk/fade even on a bad team, but now a lousy commander absolutely hamstrings you. And marines, which are used to bad commanding, can now up and buy shotguns willy nilly! What's a poor skulk without celerity supposed to do? |

NegaDeath wrote on Oct 31, 2012, 19:44: I'll finish Amnesia...eventually. Yeah it stopped being scary (lantern oil novelty wears out fast) like 1/3 into it and was basically a slog to the end. More enjoyable than other slogs, but a slog nonetheless. |
