Squeenix are under the impression the Final Fantasy IP justifies overpricing their seemingly inexhaustible supply of rereleases.

Don't like roguelikes. Permadeath thing kills it for me.

I am however enjoying the hell out of Rogue Legacy. Although it features more player deaths per capita than 99.9% of other games, there's still persistent progression.

News Comments > It Came from E3 2013, Part Six

The "tropes in video games" video was misguided, noneducational, unentertaining nonsense. That's why it didn't get any supporters here. Women in video games ARE one-dimensional, helpess, and completely unrealistically portrayed... but so are men. Damsel in distress permeates every narrative outlet, why would video games be excepted?

This whole (non issue) goes back to basic marketing. The target market for most video games is 15-30 males. Elizabeth wasn't on the cover of Infinite because Ken Levine thought frat boys might buy a BioShock game if it had a gun-wielding dude on the cover. E3 is unequivocally used to sell products, and sex sells, a fact which isn't going to change without hell having frozen over, first. Ergo, boobs at E3.

I doubt they had to make any special considerations in having a game built for Win7 operational on Vista.

Or maybe the lack of women here has to do with women not being "hardcore" enough to frequent PC gaming-centered, text-heavy news web sites? Sure a lot of women game nowadays but they don't seem to care about them beyond playing them. It takes a pretty geeky geek to show up here posting diatribes about the fall of id Software or the rise of the MOBA.

If one needs to hire scantily clad women to attract people to one's booth at E3, maybe one should consider bringing a better product to E3?

Hey you should start posting Final Bosman, the guy is very honest, affable, and insightful in his (now weekly) videogaming op-eds.

If more games made money, and all games made more money, more games would be made.

And then fewer games would make money because 95% of the customer base can't afford to buy more games for $60-$70 each, and then fewer publishers would be willing to take risks, and then fewer games would be made.

Ouya had their console on display in a lot across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is the home of E3. But at 9am this morning, the ESA rented out the spaces in front of Ouya’s display and parked semi-trucks in them in what Uhrman felt was an attempt to block people from noticing Ouya’s presence.

In response, the Ouya team rented the spots in front of the ESA’s trucks and used the spaces to display various Ouya banners. After this action, Uhrman claims that the ESA called the police.

Hahaha! Sounds like Ouya should go to Chuck E Cheese and host their own convention; I'm sure tons of fans will show up. No, wait, those are just the kids from that birthday party...

More overblown political correctness gone mad wankery.

Heh, pretty much. He didn't even say "rape" and everyone is up in arms about his "rape joke". I'd hate to see how indignant some of these people would get from the vernacular found in the average CS or CoD pub.
