Amazon's downloadable games service is pretty straightforward, and it has the benefit of being hosted on Amazon's servers, which are insanely fast. Unless you are compulsive about having all your content in one place, there's no reason not to use Amazon.

I'm an RPG junkie but found Dark Eye impenetrably dull. Is Blackguards any different?

It's really getting ridiculous. I dropped $$$ on PC upgrades a few months ago and shortly after that got Rayman Legends... for my PS3. Ubi keep putting shit out I'd love to get (Anno, Rayman, Creed, Far Cry, and now MMX) but I'm simply. Not. Going. To. Use. Uplay.

They had one shot, Blacklist, which I got for free... and they blew it.

Do I really NEED to see the same couple of 3 second cutscenes EVERY TIME I capture/loot/scuttle an enemy ship? Something I might do several times in a single naval engagement?

Consider it motivation to stop cheating boarding ships during combat.

Anyway, sorry to hijack, but Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen is easily one of the greatest video games ever made in my opinion, not joking. I mean how can you not love a game that has your pawn minions shout out "YOU SHALL NOT CAST!" as they attack an enemy intoning a spell. Glorious.

My copy of Dark Arisen arrives here tomorrow. As much as I loved Dogma (I got it release week), Dark Arisen being standalone and $40 was a spit in the face to owners of the original.

If all they do is fix the horrible controls I'll be happy. I never got to enjoy RE4 properly because the port was awful.

It was awful on the GameCube, too. Played like a one-stick game. You had to stop to aim, which wasn't fun in a game clearly designed to be shooting while retreating.

Completely opposite. The game was designed around having to fire while immobile, which is why it had such a reputation as a white-knuckle affair. RE4 struck a fairly good balance between surviving and combat, with later entries having way too much emphasis on doling out damage instead of avoiding it.

PSN is having sale.

Puppeteer is $14, Tales of Xillia is $20, half again if you've got +. Puppeteer may be the best-presented game ever released.

You threw up a bunch of games which were in no way AAA, except for Dragon Age 2. X Rebirth and Star Trek? Really?

The game itself? Going to need to see a ton of 8s and 9s before I go anywhere near it.

When has a AAA game not had masses of perfect scores slung at it like feces from a horde of inebriated monkeys?

Lot of hate on GRRM. The guy has written five (long) books and I've loved every word of it. He can have all the time he wants.

It is. Very good. Thanks to people like you we get games, which we otherwise probably would not get.

Why wouldn't we get these universally low-budget indie games otherwise?

Why would you pay good money for a game that could become something completely different than what you thought it would be when you bought it?

If the devs are any good they will take player feedback into account.
You know, actually beta the product.

From their standpoint, if people are willing to pay for that, why wouldn't they take advantage?

I thought it would be interesting, like with fantasy theme or something (why the fuck is it called Banished?)

This looks boring as fucking hell, like a halfassed Anno title.

Titan Quest was made on the fact you could dual class. Loot was all right, and doing enough damage to send enemies ragdolling across the screen never got old, but experimenting with class combos kept me playing for a hell of a lot longer than I played Torchlight 1 or 2.

TL2 was especially boring where a majority of the attacks just feel like re-skinned basic attacks.

Really thought they'd pull it off. TL1 was a great start but they utterly failed to move forward in any capacity. A boring game with coop is still a boring game.

How about the space game where instead of being able to even see your target you fire warp bombs at their suspected locations from thousands of kilometers away? It's Silent Hunter, because in space, no one *REALLY* can hear you scream.
